The Walking Dead Comics: A Basic Introduction

Spoilers, Obviously. For those who want to know what happens in the comics but don't want to read them, than this thread is for you. The comic series is set in the same universe as the games and novels. The TV show is a different canon. Anyways, let's begin:

Vol 1-21

Sheriff Rick Grimes and his parter Shane Walsh are in the middle of a shoot-out with an escaped convict. Rick is shot and goes into a coma. He wakes up in the abandoned hospital and encounters his first Walker. He escapes it and heads too his house(This is around the time of Starved For Help). He finds it abandoned and his wife and son nowhere to be found. He is hit over the head with a shovel by Duane Jones. His father, Morgan Jones runs over and brings Rick into his house. When Rick regains consciousness, Morgan explains that the world has gone to hell and that the dead are coming back to life. Rick brings them to the Police Station where he puts on his iconic police uniform and arms himself and Morgan with guns. Morgan tells him the Military told everyone to go to Atlanta and that his best chance of finding his family is going there. He gives Morgan a police car and takes one for himself. A Walker outside the fence startles Rick. Rick pulls his gun and is about to shoot when. Morgan tells him to save the ammo. Rick says goodbye to them and heads off to Atlanta. Halfway there, his car breaks down and he goes looking for gas in a nearby house. He finds the family dead inside and runs away in terror. He finds the family's horse in the back and picks up a Hatchet. He rides the horse to Atlanta. He and his trusty steed are ambushed by Walkers. The walkers kill the horse and Rick is left without transportation. Luckily, Glenn saves him and brings him back to his groups camp. As luck would have it, he finds his 7 Year Old Son, Carl, and his wife, Lori. Also there is his best friend and police partner, Shane. He introduces him to the rest of the group. Amy and her older sister Andrea, Sophia and her mom Carol, Donna, Allen, Ben, Billy, Dale, and Jim. After a good nights rest, Rick and Glenn head back into the city to look for guns. They find a gun store with the help of Jim and use the classic Walker camouflage with guts trick. Their plan is successful and the head back to camp. After walkers invade their camp, Amy is bitten and put down by Andrea. Jim is bitten and survived until the next day when he asks to become a Walker so he can rejoin his family. Things have been growing tense between Shane and Rick. Shane pulls a gun on Rick before being shot by Carl. Rick tells him that it's never the same as killing walkers and that it never should be. As snow starts to fall down, the group packs up and heads out in search of safety. It is also revealed that Lori is pregnant, possibly with Shane's Baby. They run into former NFL Player Tyreese, his daughter. Julie, and her boyfriend Chris. They join the group and stay the night at a Development called Wiltshire Estates. The next morning, Walkers invade and kill Donna. Allen is broken and the twins are motherless. They eventually find Hershel Greenes Farm after Otis accidentally shoots Carl. He leads them to the farm where Vet Hershel offers to help. Hershel's Family includes Maggie, Billy, Lacey, Rachel, Susie, and Arnold. Also with him are travelers Patricia and Otis. Carl heals and Hershel and Rick talk about Walkers. Hershel disagrees with killing them and instead keeps them in his barn. When Rick argues Hershel tells him his son is in there(We all know what happened to him). They find a Walker and try to put it in the barn but things go wrong and Lacey and Arnold die by an undead Shawn Greene. Hershel kills them all and almost kills himself before Rick stops him. He kicks them off the farm but let's Glenn stay due to him being in love with Maggie. The group leaves and finds a prison(The same prison Lee was going too). That's just the basic into to the comics. I'd write everything but that would take about a year. Hope I got you interested.
