If it was offensive they wouldn't call it handicapp parking. My brother is handicapped and I have been on tons of sport stuff with him and they use the word all the time.
Nah, my sister works in social work, and deals with disabled people on a daily basis. Handicapped is not okay to say (i.e. not PC), as it implies that they have a rather detrimental disadvantage they cannot overcome.
Everyone can edit wikipedia. Lately people think getting offended is fun. Handicapped is not offensive. This word is used on all aragments for disabled people. Ever sonce I was born I have been on stuff like that with my handicapped brother and they use it all the time.

I don't think it is, I'm saying it because I don't want to hurt anyone.
That video is from the early 90's, and besides that, the point of what he was saying is that the words used to describe groups fighting for whatever cause they may be fighting for is changed in order to change people's perception of them. At that time people in the U.S. with m80s would still be considered criminals or just non-offenders, whereas now they are terrorists depending on where you live.
Exactly, words are words, as long as you're not making fun of them there's not use in censoring words.
"Unwilling sperm recipient" xD
… moreThis guy got it right.
EDIT: I can't believe he compared commando soldiers to terrorists, he's really ignorant on that part since Israeli soldiers do not blow up on little kids.

I really don't want to get into this and cause hard feelings or risk a ban for either of us, but let me just say two things. One, bombs sent by Israel will kill children if it's intentional or not, just as all bombs do. Two, I personally wouldn't be offended by the comparison, because to a civilian, any invading army is nothing but a terrorist group.
I'm going to extend off of this a bit, because it's a concept that a lot of people on here aren't fully understanding. Just gonna throw in my two cents.
Different people have different levels of what makes them comfortable. Though there are many disabled folks who don't mind the term "handicapped", there are also many who do, and in my experience it's best to play it safe and avoid a word all together if you can help it if you know it makes a large number of people uncomfortable. Obviously there are way more intentionally harmful words you can use against disabled people, and I know most of you guys don't mean to be malicious here, but a lot of people generally regard "handicapped" as outdated and insulting.
In it, "handicapped" is indeed listed as a word one should avoid. However, it also gives a nice list of words you can use instead--"physically disabled" being the foremost catch-all term that is advised. I would suggest we use that term to refer to this new character's condition.
As I said before, I am fully aware that none of you mean any harm. I'm not trying to berate anyone, or try to act like I'm better than you. If I didn't care, I wouldn't be making the effort to try and change your minds.
Like I say below, it's not remotely difficult to alter your language by cutting out a word or two, and it's a benefit to you personally as well because it gives you a chance to expand your vocabulary. I used to be stand-offish at the idea of not using words I didn't consider offensive, but then I just... tried it. It's not as hard as you want to convince yourself it is.
tl;dr: Let's just use the word "disabled" for the new character.
I guess he's handicapped, maybe injured his leg, doesn't matter much anyway.
Sorry, the word handicapped might be considered offensive to some people, physically disabled is more appropriate.
We avoid civilian casualties at all costs, they intentionally kill civilians, it's not the same.
Look, the conflict is something no one will get unless he lives here, I'm not surprised by what you are saying because the US media is hiding a lot of things from you, Obama has made mistakes and they cost many lives here, I'll leave it at that.

Is this real life? Fuck me, I've only seen like one person from Israel my whole time here, this is awesome.
Nah, no racism towards Jews or Israeli people, you're safe here. And if anyone does that, just call me and I'll teach him a lesson.
EDIT: Ok, scratch that, there's a couple of racist assholes that follow me and dislike me and some other user's comments, but don't even give a fuck about that.

I hope you're joking.
I'm still waiting for a mute character though that'd be kinda cool...

I really wanted to say handicapped, but I know how butthurt people can get from hearing words.
I started to read this conversation and that was the first thing that popped into my head. I couldn't not post lol.
It's political correctness for you. I still kinda doubt they'd want to read structures like "those passengers in need of special assistance".
Hehe, same. Only that I didn't post it after all.

What's 'SLM Turner'?

I still find the comparison highly offensive, you'd feel the same if you lived here
Lol, yeah.
Just tried playing it safe, you never know if someone who's handicapped would show up and start attacking you for it, but I guess it's not that bad.
I have less couth I guess, lol.
I wouldn't count on it, lol.

Here is an article (written/compiled by an actual disabled person who advocates for disability rights issues) pointing out certain offensive words and why they are hurtful to disabled people: http://www.autistichoya.com/p/ableist-words-and-terms-to-avoid.html

I appreciate all the support I get around here but I highly doubt they're going to add me into the game. =p
He's not handicapped he's handicapable! I can't even type that with a straight face.
do you guys think we might try to talk to him there if the choice is there then i'll try to with a gun in clem's hand just in case
I have handicapped people on my school they only make jokes about eachother
Some new character...but Spoooiler dont want to see it.
Haha that would be nice.:))
The jeans at 1:26 look kinda familiar...sad guess but I wanna hope it's Christa.

Tiny Tim confirmed for TWD.
