The Infamous Leak + TWAU Finale's earlier arrival = Leaked Amid The Ruins choices replaced?
Is it okay to talk about the leak? If not, I am terribly sorry for this inconvenience.
So anyway. After In Harm's Way's release, this infamous event took place, which unofficially revealed very dangerous spoilers for the critical choices of Amid The Ruins to the community. When it came time for the next episode in one series to be released, TWAU's finale was announced, despite it being TWDG's turn at the time.
Could it be that that event forced Telltale to delay the episode (or rather, release TWAU finale instead) so that they could use the extra time to tweak the episode, so as to make sure the effect of this leaked information would be nullified?
Could they have rewritten the episode? Have the choices in the leak, whatever they were (I have not seen this information myself and am not planning on examining them before playing the actual episode), been replaced?
If Telltale really managed to do such a thing on such short notice, I have to admit, I am a little impressed. Respectable dedication for surprises.
But in any case, just food for thought. Looking forward to a blind and spoilerfree experience!

Could be, and if that happened... man, to say, some choices were really good. I didn't saw it today, but I saw it in the beginning of the waiting, when the forum went in crazy.
After the 4 month delay for The Wolf Among Us EP 2, we all decided that something had to be up, and we are all almost entirely sure there was a story rewrite for the entire series, as we found proof. I am trying hard to remember, but I do believe that when something is leaked, Telltale does not change it. Models were leaked for TWAU months and months before, and it was never changed. I think the whole reason for the Amid the Ruins delay is just due to the fact that EP 3. had a mixed impact to the community, and due to that they had to take feedback into consideration more heavy than usual. Take note that the 5 choices of every TWD Episode span the entirety of the episode, mostly. That would mean basically recreating the pivotal points of the episode, thus creating a whole remake for the majority of the episode. I believe they released the TWAU finale due to the wait that fans had to go through from EP 1. to 2.
There is a chance that the leaked decisions caused Telltale to prolong the release date for TWD, but I have some doubt that they would rewrite the episode because of some leaked decisions that could very well be false. As for TWAU, Telltale may have wanted to finish that specific project so that they could focus more on upcoming projects and the sequel to their first TWDG, or it could just be that they had finished development of the fifth episode of TWAU and decided to release it before the fourth instalment of TWDS2, which would give them time to add to the episode and maybe even quicken the production of the fifth episode of the game.
Well let's just hope so or atleast they changed a couple. and if you haven't seen it then don't look, incase it's real.
The only reason TWAU was rewritten was because whoever was in charge of the writers didn't like the story iirc.
While it's possible Telltale could change parts of the story due to the leak, it's also possible the leak was fake. If Telltale did decide to rewrite Episode 4 due to the leak (revealing the leak was indeed real), it would likely need more time than what they have had to rewrite things. That would likely push the episode back to late August or September. Since it's next week, if there was a rewrite, it was a minor one to maybe change a few things.
Just another few days before the episode comes out.
it was discussed on a different TWDG Forum that ONE choice from the leaked choices of Amid The Ruins was changed. I have no idea what it is, nor do I want to know what it is.
Hopefully, all the choices were changed. I wouldn't want to play and go, "Oh here's that choice!". It should be a new experience.
I know what all the choices are, and some of them sounded like big events. If Telltale re-wrote the episode, I hope it isn't shit.
I doubt it. Hasty last-minute rewrites brought about by an online leak isn't exactly common sense. If Telltale was that panicky, they'd never be able to finish the season.
I can confirm that this is the case at least one of them was changed.
they probably would do the same storyline just change the choices around a bit like for example.
[Abort Rebecca's baby] or [Not let the baby be aborted]
Changed to
[Agree to perform C section] or [Let baby be born naturally]
These are not the actual leaked choices. So the storyline would be switched a bit but not fully.
Um I don't think so, twd always came out on a bimonthly routine.
I don't think the episode was rewritten.
The trailer for S2E4 is almost identical to the "Next Time On..." preview we got at the end of S2E3. Sarah's glasses, Kenny not looking too good, fighting the horde while Rebecca gives birth, etc. All of that obviously made it into the episode.
Look at Wolf Among Us "Smoke & Mirrors" and you'll see basically nothing from the "Next Time On..." preview in the actual episode. Combine that with the slide change for "A Crooked Mile" and the 4 month wait, it's obvious that WAU was rewritten and I can speculate that it took resources away from TWD team as a result.
More likely (hopefully) they were taking their time due to fan feedback from the first 3 episodes. Longer episodes and more branching paths due to decisions in the game. Please Telltale!
Not always, plus the point being brought up is that TWAU veered away from a bimonthly pattern for a single inning, and then released another episode before TWD Ep 4. even came out.
i don't know what you just said but i'm still sticking to my assumption. I doubt telltale rewrote the whole episode in their normal schedule. Since when the 2 choices were leaked, it was like a little after episode 3 so honestly it's too short. If they honestly did rewrite it it'd be coming out in August. All of the episodes came out in 2 months, aside from episode 1-2 wait, which took 3 months.
I ruined it for myself and saw the leaked choices, being the annoying nosy person i was. I hope they tweaked the choices, but even if they did, its not like they changed much of the episode and story. Ug, how did they get leaked anyway?
One of the choices was changed.
However, don't let that deter you from enjoying the episode. There will still be plenty that we don't know about. Who knew about the guy with the leg-brace? Or that Kenny may be suicidial? Or that Luke is intent on 'picking the right side'?
There's still going to be plenty that we don't know about.
Which choice was changed?
I'm not gonna say, because then people can keep wondering which one changed while they're playing.
Oh cause I didn't notice changes to the leak, I might've read it after it was changed.
