I think the reason no choices seem to matter is we don't see any lasting impact or change. When we save a characters life instead of letting them die they don't help us out or continue to be a major character. They are given minimal dialogue and interactions until they die later on in the story. If my choices affected the ending to a game I would feel like the choices mattered but right now it seems that what should be considered major decisions merely slightly affect a relationship with a certain character and nothing more.

In season one, everyone ended up in the same place at the end, yet we all had very different stories to tell as to how we got there. Regarding season 2, I believe the most impactful choices I made were those from 400 days.

The same was going to be said for TWAU but then episode 5 came out and all of that changed. It may not look like it at first but I think are choices will really matter in the end.
