I don't like Luke and don't really care whether he lives or dies. I think part of my problem is I really bonded with Nick in Episode Two and the fact Nick can die in Episode Two means the character's possible contributions to the plot are going to be negligible. My Clementine would love for Nick to be the hero of the group but has almost no time for Luke--who she sees as an annoyance at best.
I enjoy how you end the argument since you can't come up with compelling arguments for anything I said. And I tell you, if Luke had not gone across that bridge with Clementine, she would've been killed either by Nick or by the walkers crossing the bridge.
Did you even play S2E2? Clem is the one that saved Luke's ass on the bridge.
"He has likely off-screen saved the cabin group's asses" Are… more you fucking serious? off-screen? What kind of bullshit is this?
Luke did nothing for the group. Nothing. Just deal with it.
I'm done arguing with you.
Luke is great character? Why? What has he done ever, that we would say "WoW Luke", "Holyshit Luke". He's girlish and unintresting character. He's too nice for this game.
I agree with everything you said. One personal addition is that being on these forums has changed my opinion of him. For example, I wasn't really on the forums around the release of Season 2 Episode 1 and I liked Luke well enough, but as time has gone on and there's been such a drastic over-dramatization of him and so many Luke vs whoever arguments, as well as Cluke shipping, and TeamLuke nonsense, that I can't say I even like his character anymore. It's sad since, besides everything you listed, a big reason I've fallen out of favor with his character is because I've gotten sick of the idea of him.
Most of the haters are Kenny fanboys, that´s a fact. They just don´t have faith on Luke just as Kenny doesn´t, and got butthurt about Luke suggesting leaving him behind when Luke was simply being realist about the possible consequences of leaving at the same night, since his idea of waiting until everyone was capable was disapproved by the group. Luke has a lot more respect for Kenny than Kenny has for Luke, in case people dont know, so Kenny fanboys should calm your tits before bashing him because Kenny is being douchier here.
I don't hate Luke, i just like Kenny alot more than him. We've only known Luke for a little above 1 week, and never really got to talk to him. We met Kenny from one of the first days, got to talk to him as Lee, and knows alot about him. And then i like Kenny more, because he cares about Clem, he's a nice guy and would sacrifice himself for Clem, which i don't think Luke would. If we will get a choice which to pick, i would surely pick Kenny, wouldn't even think about it. He was so happy to see Clem again, will probably lose his girlfriend, because of the cabin group, and then he only has Clem left, and i can't look at him sad, if Clem chooses a guy she only have known for a week. I just can't.
Well like you said people interpret things differently and they have a different point of view, what you think doesn't make sense could mean absolute sense to someone else.
This! I understand people interpret things differently and have differing opinions to each other, it's one of the many things that make us human. It's just most arguments against Luke, like you said, don't really make sense.
I like both Luke and Kenny.
I just wish he doesn't suggest leaving Kenny behind again in EP4. I wish they'd get along :T
I also want m… moreore backstory on Luke. We pretty much know everything about Kenny.
About Luke we know he's childhood friends with Nick and went into business with him, was raised a farm boy, and lost his parents.
I like Kenny as a character but I understand he's an enormous screw-up.
I just flat-out don't like Luke. I find Nick a much more compelling character.
Likewise, Luke has more or less advocated every single position I disagree with in the game from leaving Kenny behind (as mentioned) to lying to Walter to lying to Nick ABOUT lying to Walter to dropping Clementine while running.
I just don't see a reason why to like him. It doesn't mean he's not an interesting character but I prefer ones like Carlos and even Alvin.
Why aren't you too fond of that random guy/girl in your class who you never really spoke to?
Honestly, everyone has that one character in a game or movie that they really liked, even though said character never did anything really stupid/mean/annoying.
I personally really like Luke as a character and find him interesting, but I can see why people wouldn't straight up love him right now. Hating him I find weird but simply disliking or feeling 100% neutral I could kind of understand.
I've also noticed a few (NOT EVERY) Kenny fans being a bit threatened by Luke's presence ever since you could kind of side with him or Kenny (like by choosing who to sit with and if you'd want to stay at the inn or leave with the cabin group).
The whole pizza VS ice cream going people think is gonna happen also have a hand in this whole "it's one or the other" thing.
There are also a few scenes that got a bit "blurry" in episode 3.
Pretty much the whole fanbase got somewhat led to believe that Luke would either have left the group behind or was coming to save the day and during his abscence we got to hang out a bit more with Kenny, making us, as Clementine, feel a even more connected and close to him than before. Once Luke, the guy who many thought would prove himself to the player, failed rescuing the group and got caught. Right after that Kenny got to play hero and take a beating. Luke then suggests leaving the guy, who pretty much saved your ass a few minutes ago, behind.
From what I've read in other threads that little runthrough of Luke's "spotlight" in ep3 is a pretty big reason a lot of people started doubting him, stick to Kenny or simply start disliking him. Alot also seems to have missed the whole "Luke followed a friggin' truck a whole day while avoiding walkers, not eating and probably not having too much water" thing which completely made me respect him and like him even more.
Then when he suggests leaving Kenny they get too upset to get what he's actually saying. He's stating that if the group really feel the need to leave right this moment they can't bring an unconcious dude. The upset fans, especially some hardcore Kenny fans, took the sentences as "Fuck Kenny, leave him." While what he meant was "We should stay, but since you're so disposed on leaving I hope you understand that it means leaving people who can't follow behind."
There, my little rant is done.
And just to clarify, I really friggin' love both Luke AND Kenny's characters and immediately turned down leaving him behind. But I could see the full picture. Also, this whole as I called it "rant" might sound like I'm "hating" on the Kenny fanbase, but I aint. So there.
When you mix Lee and Clem´s perspectives it makes sense, but Kenny barely interacted with Clem at Season 1, and i don´t blame him since it was Lee´s job to look after her, and the age difference doesn´t help either. Luke bonded with Clem more than Kenny did at entire Season 1, until they met each other at the lodge, keep that in mind so you realize that how long people know each other can be pretty irrelevant.
I don't hate Luke, i just like Kenny alot more than him. We've only known Luke for a little above 1 week, and never really got to talk to hi… morem. We met Kenny from one of the first days, got to talk to him as Lee, and knows alot about him. I don't hate Luke but not a lot of characters in Season 2 have left a strong impression on me and Luke is included. Right now I'm only invested in Rebecca and Kenny (aside from the playable character).
Also don't think the Cluke ship is appropriate at all.
You can consider me one of the Luke haters now if you want, after he thought it was a good idea to shove his cock into Jane while Rebecca was due to give birth AND he should have been looking out for walkers (causing the group to be unprepared for the attack) I have lost what little respect I had towards him.
During episodes 1 and 2 I really disliked Luke because of the game wanting to constantly create this relationship with him and Clem. I found it annoying how the game would repeatedly remind us that Luke is the good guy of the group. It was like every single instance where he was involved the game kept telling me "This is Luke, he is a good guy, you should like him!!!!! DO YOU LIKE HIM YET!!!" It was annoying, and his character was just uninteresting and very unappealing. Every hint I gave to the guy that I wanted him to leave me alone, the game wouldn't take no for an answer and for another scene it was Clem and Luke paring up again. Continuously pushing a character on a player isn't an ideal way to get the player to like that character; well not for me any way.
It was only until episode three, where I found him to be bearable. I think that had something to do with him not being around so much, but who knows. Right now I'm on the fence with Luke. His character still isn't interesting, but since episode three he lost his annoying factor.
If this is true (I haven't played yet) then screw both Luke and Jane. And I thought she was an awesome character. Seems like she's just another Luke fan girl. So much potential lost

I prefer Kenny because he is my old friend and he is a legend!! I dont like Luke but i dont hate him.
Some people just dislike characters because they do, there doesn't have to be an explanation for how people feel about virtual or living beings.
Well like you said people interpret things differently and they have a different point of view, what you think doesn't make sense could mean absolute sense to someone else.

Don't forget he also liked to jump rooftops when he was younger :P

I would tell all of the Luke and Kenny haters to go take a hike b/c I am sick of this unnecessary flame war
I don't like luke or kenny
*slips on shades*
Also don't think the Cluke ship is appropriate at all.
Well, Luke knew where the settlement was so he didn't so much follow the truck as just hoof it towards where he knew it was going.
Still impressive but it's not like he's Aragorn tracking them.

I've never like Luke tbh.

Tis true. Clementine walks in on them once they're done fucking each other.
In that case TEAM KENNY 4 LIFE!!!
It was an asshole move but I don't care because now I ship Jane and Luke!
