I apologize for the delayed response. Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game after turning Steam Cloud Saving Off?

  • Hello,

I'm having the same problem. I already played the first two episodes of the Season 2. After that I formatted my computer and I didn't get any backup files. I installed TWD Season 1 and 2 again. My saves from the Season 1 (loaded on Season 2) are OK, but not my Season 2 saves, it says I only played part of the first chapter. Even my Steam account shows my achievements.

Can you help me? Here is my Support Tool: https://www.sendspace.com/file/8o4p4j

    Thx!

I apologize for the inconvenience. After looking over your support tool, it seems that you only have save files from the first episode/chapter. Can you please clarify if you had Steam Cloud Syncing enabled? If so, were you playing the game while connected to the internet to make sure your saves were being stored properly on the Steam Cloud?

  • Like so many others, i have the same issue of my saves not loading. I ran the support tool which I uploaded here. https://www.sendspace.com/file/ab61cp I played the first three episodes of season 2 and closed the game and closed steam. When I started the game up again, it thinks that I have only played the first episode. I would like to continue with my save today with the new episode just released without having to replay episodes 2 and 3.
I also messed around with turning steam cloud on and off, but nothing changed.

  • Having the same problem, the worst part is that this happened to me on season 1 twice and now its happening again on season 2 and I have no idea why. Anyways here is my file https://www.sendspace.com/file/vpxnq0 .....Yes i disabled steam cloud and restarted steam and stuff it still didnt work.

I apologize for the inconvenience, unfortunately if the game was ever exited or closed during an autosave or loading sequence, your save files may have become corrupted. If this is the case, you will need to delete your save games and/or start a New Game. My apologies for any difficulties this may cause you.

  • No. It was working fine throughout Episode 3, it wasn't until the Episode 4 update came out that this happened. Its just on The Walking Dead games it seems since it happened to me on Season 1, I have the Wolf Among Us and that game loaded all of my save files fine. I guess ill just have to start all over again.

I apologize for the inconvenience. Unfortunately after looking over your support tool file there doesn't seem to be any missing files. Unfortunately if you are unable to use your current Season Two save files, they may have become corrupted. Unfortunately if this is the case, I would have to recommend either deleting the save files, or continuing from the last point in which it did properly save. Again, my apologies for any difficulties this may cause you.

I apologize for the inconvenience. I noticed you have two prefs.prop files inside of your Telltale Games/The Walking Dead Season Two/ folder. Please try renaming the one named prefs.prop to prefs.prop.bak, and then rename the prefs.prop.bak file to prefs.prop, and restart the game, and see if your saves are then restored.

My apologies. After looking over your Support Tool information, it seems that you have two separate file directories for The Walking Dead: Season Two. One in

C:\Users\%YOURNAME%\Documents\Games\Telltale Games\The Walking Dead Season Two

    and another in

C:\Users\%YOURNAME%\Documents\telltale games\the walking dead season two

I recommend looking in those folders, and seeing which files show the correct time stamp from the last time you successfully played the game. Then go to the opposite folder with the wrong time stamp, and rename the prefs.prop file to prefs.prop.bak

If you are playing the Steam version for the game, did you have Steam Cloud Syncing enabled for the game? If so, did you make sure to enable Steam Cloud Syncing for Steam on your new computer? Unfortunately if you did not have Steam Cloud enabled for your old computer, your save files were lost with the old computer, and you will have to start a New Game.

Achievements are saved to the Steam servers, while your save games were saved locally. If you did not have Steam Cloud Syncing enabled on your old computer, then your save files were unfortunately lost with your old system. I sincerely apologize for any difficulties this may cause you. Unfortunately if you did not back up your save files, you will have to start a new game.

I apologize for the inconvenience. If you ever exited or closed the game, or shut off your computer during an autosave or loading sequence, your save files may have become corrupted. If you would like to delete your save files, and start a new game, please go to

    C:\Users\YOURNAME\Documents\Telltale Games\The Walking Dead Season Two\

and delete all of the files in that folder. Then restart the game, and you should be able to start a new game successfully.

I apologize for the inconvenience. After looking over your support tool information, your Season One file directory does not seem to have any save files inside it. Can you please clarify if you have Steam cloud saves enabled? (You can check this by right clicking on the game in your Steam library, clicking properties, and click the updates tab. Near the bottom of the page, you can see if the Steam cloud is enabled for The Walking Dead: Season 2.) Please make sure Steam Cloud Syncing is enabled on both computers, and make sure both computers are connected to the internet as well. Your old computer should then sync the files with the Steam Cloud, and then will by synced onto your new computer.
