I just don't get why they didn't let Nick's death have more of an effect on him. They've been friends for twenty years and it's clear that they both care for each other.

I get that he can't be impacted too much since he's determinant but why not tie that sadness into the games of people who didn't save Nick? Like, someone could have mentioned Nick or he just gets really depressed because he lost a friend and is finally letting himself feel all of it. It works either way and Nick would do such more more for Luke's character than hooking up with Jane ever will.

When Jane started talking about her sister Jaime and how she "didn't want to go on" I genuinely thought Luke would say something about Nick, because he's said similar stuff about Nick before. But nope.

  • There's no excuse for Luke not to mourn him at this point, he's dead regardless. It's like something happened behind the scenes where they decided they just wanted to drop him.

  • Maybe luke mourned more offscreen. He is starting to lose it from where i see it. Or at least is completely different from the Luke just two episodes ago.

  • I did too! All I thought about when Jane was talking about Jamie, was how similar it felt to Nick, so I was expecting Luke to say something about Nick, because it could've worked either way even if Nick did die in episode 2. Or at least something from Luke since a lot of people suspected he might've had a younger sister at one point too, but nope... nothing.

  • I couldn't agree more. I was expecting Luke to get really upset over Nick dying, and I felt that would've been a much better development for his character than hooking up with Jane. Like all that accomplished was everyone getting disappointed, or being pissed off at him, and he honestly didn't need a romance in the story (unless to shut Cluke shippers up). Like wtf. Seeing him mourn the death of his best friend would've given a much better opportunity to warm up to his character, especially given how popular Nick's character is, than sticking him in a romance. Yes, it's great they gave him another character flaw, but having a character just screw up a bunch of times isn't the only thing that's going to make people like a character.

  • I was so pissed off at Telltale when I found zombie Nick. Like really, they could let him say a few lines before he died or something, but noo... Sigh...

RIP Nick, you'll be missed. :-(

  • This was such a misstep. He should've gotten a fitting send-off like Alvin, being determinant (which they shouldn't have made him to begin with) didn't have to mean he basically stopped existing after episode 2. Add in Luke's weak reaction to it, and it was all a big disappointment.

Worst death ever..I didn't even get how he died. I know he was shot but why didn't he cover it up or anything, and why didn't Luke even notice or seem to even care when Nick died? Nick was such an amazing character and definitely one of the best by far introduced in season 2 in my opinion. Going to miss him. They could've done so much better with him, Sarah, and Rebecca.

  • And here I thought they couldn't make any death cheaper than Omid's....

  • sarah's death when the baby is being born tho that was so fucked up and rebecca just dropping dead at the end so many feels :(

  • Rebecca- She didn't have to die, honestly. She could have lived a little longer, and given a better death instead of the crappy one she was given.

Nick- He had no purpose, honestly. He could not have given anything else to the series, and his storyline ended.

Sarah- I think she didn't have a purpose, but the way she was killed, it was just awful. I mean if she had a better death or lived longer, ok. But the horrible way she died was just sad. No burial. And she died alone.

  • After reading the reactions to Nick's death in episode 4, I'm glad he died in episode 2 for me. I mean, it still sucks that he died but at least his death wasn't a let down and kind of felt like it meant something.

  • Yep, all determinants die.

    I know it sucks

  • Gotta say, it's like TellTale saw that the female characters were either as numerous or greater than the male characters and decided to off them left and right this episode. And still we have this boring as fuck Kenny vs. Luke thing, although at least it provided some intense moments.

R.I.P. Nick R.I.P. Sarah R.I.P. Rebecca R.I.P. Sarita We've lost so many people now. I knew it was coming, but I thought after Season 1 I would be able to handle it, but it still hurts as much as before.

  • ...So mourning his best friend of twenty years goes off-screen, but throwing a temper tantrum because his fuck-buddy split gets featured?

That was the laziest, stupidest, thrown in, biggest "Fuck you, fans" of a death that they could have given him. They could have tried to make it worse, but they wouldn't have succeeded. That was complete and utter shit.

  • Hmmm, good point. Telltale is confusing me.

  • You really can't expect every character to survive in the zombie apocalypse. You also can't expect each death to be a good one. Someone's going to get the short end of the stick. For a real example, who thought Steve Irwin would die to a sting ray barb in the chest? That was a terrible way to go and yet that's how he went. Same with Paul Walker much more recently with his car accident. Telltale can't just keep one upping each death. It's impossible. And a good death is a matter of opinion. While one person will say it's good, the next will say it's terrible. It's chocolate vs vanilla vs strawberry ice cream. We all have our opinions. It doesn't mean anyone's wrong, but you have to respect that not everyone will think like you do.

You might not like the way some of the characters died, but chances are you'll remember it later. You either remember the worst or the best, but the middle ground stuff is what you forget. Sarah had a terrible death regardless if you saved her at the beginning or left her behind, but chances are you'll remember it later. Sarita and Carlos, by contrast, went out much quieter and will likely be forgotten in a few years. Not every death can be memorable or good. Besides, how do you think a good death would be in the zombie apocalypse? Best you'll get is shooting yourself or perhaps freezing to death or drowning. Otherwise, you'll likely end up zombie food or brutally killed by bandits ... or starve to death.

In regards to Nick's death, if people aren't aware, there is a major artery that goes through the area he was shot. Otzi the Iceman was shot in the shoulder in a similar area and some people believe that's how he died. Seems like Nick probably bled out from the wound. He obviously tripped on his own feet as he was trying to get out of the fence, was too weak to continue, and just died there. Nick did go out heroically, though, even though we didn't see it. Luke says Nick went out to find the others leaving him with Sarah. Maybe Nick realized he was going to die so opted to leave to save them from putting him down. Imagine if Luke had gone instead of Nick. Clem and Jane would have found a walker Nick and a half eaten (and possibly zombified) Sarah instead.

In the end, this proves that in the world of The Walking Dead, no one is safe ... although you think that would have been obvious after Lee died ... and Duck along with everyone else.

Honestly. Here's Nick for you if you saved him.

    10 lines in Episode 3.
    Appears dead in Episode 4.

God damn it Telltale. Even Sarah had a better send-off then that.

  • I wasn't too surprised that he died in this episode. But you would think he'd at least have a line of dialogue though.

  • a lot more memorable haha

I didn't think his death was cheap, but from the viewpoint of someone who would, I have no idea how they could do that!

  • I'll miss his carlos impressions!

  • I'm so angry. I saw him get shot and honestly thought he was going to die there, but thankfully it wasn't the case. I got hopeful when he escaped, but then I see him as a fucking walker.

No lines for him. His second appearance after less than 10 seconds of screen time getting shot is him dead. Like, really? Then what's the point in saving him? Telltale, if you want to kill him off so bad, don't make him determinant, make Walter hesitate in shooting the walker regardless of what you choose. There. Don't give us the false hope that he will do anything to affect the story.

I knew it was coming, but when I heard the walker noises and saw his sleeve I had to pause and take a breath. God fucking dammit.

The one good thing about all this? Uh... We got to see him without his hat! :'D

    Ahh shit.

  • I wasn't sure if Rebecca was going to die until Clem was holding the baby and Rebecca said Clem was family. Then it became pretty clear that Clem will end up having to watch out for the baby. With Kenny and Luke arguing about it, I have a feeling that Clem will get stuck with the task. I wouldn't be surprised if episode 5 ends with Clem being the sole caretaker for the baby, either.

  • What a shitty way to go, it's a shame how they killed him off.

  • I screamed at my laptop when I saw Nick as a walker. ;(

  • Yeah that's why I thought he died in the herd
