Finally! He can’t be seen as perfect anymore!

You want to know how I reacted when I realized Luke and Jane had sex, instead of keeping a look out? I LAUGHED! Walkers everywhere and the group’s lives are in danger and I laughed my ass off for a good solid minute. Luke you dog, you damn dog you!

Yes I am annoyed those two got careless, I would be stupid if I didn’t think that because maybe the group might’ve gotten the warning sooner and been able to get to safety quicker [And maybe even poor Sarah might’ve lived, or maybe the balcony might’ve fallen anyway.] But you know something…I thought it was perfect!

A couple of the arguments with Luke’s character in the past have been that he’s too perfect. Well this ‘incident’ pretty much shows that he isn’t. He got weak and became bunk buddies with Jane and at the worst of times too. That was a very bad call, on both Luke and Jane’s parts.

Now I’m not sure if it implied Luke got used, given he seems really upset about Jane running off, and moped like some Aladdin without his Jasmine. Then again it might’ve just been that Jane wanted to split and not become attached to the group, or to him. Given the affect Jas-I mean Jane has had on guys like Troy, maybe she’s just good at seducing, or perhaps she did genuinely like Luke. Who knows, all I know is that even though I am shocked that Telltale did this [enough that it made me want to leap into the game and slap Luke after my minute of laughing was up] I’m happy that they made that decision, because it shows Luke is a human being and made a mistake…but also that he is not suitable Disney material for any friendly kids movie roles any time soon.

Some of us may hate Luke’s guts for this; others may still continue to worship him like crazy fans worshipping a holy goat. Me? I’m fine, shocked but fine. I get it, he got an offer like that [literally he says Jane offered] and he thought screw it after all the shit that went down. I’m just glad Jane didn’t shoot him in the dick afterwards, and that she didn’t get killed off too. Because if Jane is gone, then perhaps it means she’ll return for a third season, and Luke can someday take her on another magic carpet ride (wink wink, nudge nudge) although if they do, I hope it's not during another walker attack, we don't need another couple visiting Las Vegas in the toilets.

But what I really think is, that with what happened in this episode will definitely weigh into the Pizza & Ice Cream decision more now, because it showed that Luke hecked up bad, and that Kenny himself is struggling emotionally too with how he behaved after losing Sarita. I think it's good we see these faults and that we as players interpret how we view the situations, and also how forgiving we can be the characters. Even with how Kenny was and snapping at Clem [which scared the crap out of me,] I couldn't hate him.

So thank you Telltale, for giving both Kenny and Luke some serious flaws this episode, and for making me laugh my butt off!

Best thing I've laughed at since:

'Luke, he's becoming a danger to a group!'

Oh the irony.

  • Im actually shocked I thought for sure Luke and Bonnie had something : p

  • Laughing.....is an interesting reaction. Although it is kind of funny when you think about it. My first reaction was, "Seriously?! Rebecca is in labor and we have walkers all over us! Now is not the time!" But yeah.

As for the pizza or ice cream/Kenny or Luke decision, I'm kind of ready to say, "Fuck both of them!" after this episode.

I still love their characters though.

I adore Luke but I was super disappointed in him. I get why he would want to, and I like that we're seeing him crack a little, but I was so upset that he would be that reckless. He's not a bad guy at all so I hope he redeems himself. It's kind of like what happened with Omid - he got careless with Christa (come on, it was obvious why he was alone with Christa in the other bathroom) and someone died indirectly because of that mistake.

Honestly? I feel like they're making the Luke vs. Kenny choice too imbalanced. This episode made him look way worse than Kenny.

  • Luke was never seen with the best eyes.Sure,he was seen with good eyes by some, but everyone kisses Kenny's ass all day long and everythng he does wrong is excused by "That's just Kenny" or "That's why I like Kenny" ('cause he's reckless and stupid sometimes).I agree with you that that made the story "spicy" and it helped the episode.I am just trying to say that Kenny is considered perfect by more people than Luke. And Kenny was a douche this episode(or at least that how it seemed to me). When I played as Lee he agreed to help me look for Clementine, but he is SO overrated and it annoys me,because all the hate Luke gets is because he's against Kenny.
In the end,Kenny's flaws will go forgiven, and Luke's will be overcriticized.

  • Well at least we can say Juke now. Maybe the whole Cluke thing is over since Luke likes Jane.

  • Jane comes back at season 3.
    Jane: Im pregnant.
    Dun dun daahhh!!!

  • edited July 2014

    Damnit double post, sorry everyone.

  • That surprised me big time because Jane said that she wouldn't get pregnant in a world like that, so uh... maybe she carries condoms around or maybe they just cuddled, I dunno... But that would be out of the character in my opinion if she did have sex with him without a protection.

Anyway, back on the topic, Luke did fuck up really hard, I was really mad at him like I was mad at Kenny for yelling at Clementine and it's good. Like you said, it shows that nobody is perfect. The characters look more real like that.

I don't know, the way Kenny reacted to Clem after losing Sarita really, really scared me. I honest to god thought he was going to shoot her. And I noticed Kenny is getting really attached to that baby, I can get it might give him a reason to want to live again and I hope that it does, I just also hope he doesn't become possessive or violent.

If anything, I think the incident with Luke evened out the odds a bit, rather than made them imbalanced. If things get worse which they likely will, we've gotta be conflicted on our decision.

Luke fucked up, Kenny and Luke have flaws but I prefer kenny, (That scene when he snapped at Clementine I was like WTF?) But that was just a moment I really want to know who lives and dies in the finale....

  • I never found him to be perfect to begin with. I never found any character to be perfect because that would just be a lie, nobody is perfect. I didn't realize he fucked Jane though until I read it on the forums, I just thought that Clem caught them before they actually had sex XD I must have been blinded.

  • That's true. Kenny definitely lost it, he seemed like he was going to use the gun on somebody.

  • Luke just needed a little taste of Jane. Now that Jane's gone, Bonnie and Luke shall be together! :')

  • That's true, he definitely was teetering on losing it completely and using that gun somehow. Didn't they do a close up on the gun for that reason? To scare us into thinking of the dangers?

Oh, I hope so. I just don't want it to be too easy of a choice.

I actually think that scene was placed there out of thin air in an attempt to even Kenny and Luke's character development. And it hasn't succeeded in any way from my point of view. I actually like both of them, but I can't help to notice the situations Luke was put in. First, we have his vanishing act when Carver attacks the group, and then out of nowhere we get this "stress relief" activity that he has engaged in with Jane. If they want to downgrade his character in some players eyes, they could do it better.

About that scene, I most certainly do not hate Luke for that and I'm willing to bet that most of the people in his position would've done the same, especially considering that Jane started the whole thing. However, I can't help but feeling that was just a cheap way to try and downgrade his character.

  • Lol, I find it funny you laughed. I was just like, "WTF?! Are you serious?!" With my unamused Clem face, and then I felt kind of awkward because it was like finding your brother in a situation like that, and that's just awkward...

Needless to say I am very disappointed in Luke's character, as well as Jane's since I expected better of them. They both should've known to keep the group safe first, and that wasn't the time to do that. I think you bring up some very great points though. It's a good thing that Luke has more flaws now, but at the same time I feel like a lot of people are going to hate him for it, and I don't feel like it helped his character much. It actually did make it harder for me to choose between him and Kenny now, since when they were arguing I ended up choosing silence instead of siding with Luke since I was very disappointed in him, and Kenny made me mad at the beginning with how he treated Clem. I did agree with Luke on letting Rebecca rest though, since Rebecca looked to be in bad shape, but yeah... I still like Luke, just not as much. :/

Also, can we take this time to also appreciate that those damn Cluke shippers' dreams have been destroyed?! XD At least that's one thing that's helped Luke's character.

  • I just had a feeling it was a little bj. I mean... it ain't easy getting fully unclothed... and especially since the door was open it'd be stupid to undress completely...

But seriously, I laughed my ass off when I saw that shit. Luke was trying to cover shit up! XD

Luke just needed a little taste of Jane.

  • Guys, I'm sorry in advance, but I got to piss some people off

Remember the scene when Clementine told Luke that they robbed Arvo of his medicine? He tells her that she's exactly like Jane. And shortly after, we find out that Luke had sex with Jane. Well, if that doesn't mean that Clementine is exactly Luke's type, then I don't know.

  • I don't think he messed up too bad.

People are trying to make it look like he is responsible for everything that went wrong.

    Kenny too.

I think some people overreacted. I don't worship him, but i was shocked and annoyed. But, i dont hate him.
I've said this on other luke threads already, but am i the only one who noticed him and clem's "sibling" relationship kinda died out after episode 2.

  • I don't think it was the end of the world that some people were making it out to be (I read about it before I played), but I do think it's going to overall tip the scales further away from Luke in any pizza v. ice cream choice. Mainly because I don't think he's had enough significant, good points to counterbalance a screw-up like this in a lot of people's eyes, while Kenny, controversial though he may be, has a long history of both good and bad major moments.

Additionally, I also feel it's weird that there was kind of a disconnect between Luke and Clem and that they didn't really seem all that close. I kind of felt like he was on the path to bro-dom (for me anyway), the way some people have with Kenny, but then this episode and last, the bonding really disappeared, which is disappointing. Now I kind of feel like foreveralone!Clementine, not really having a personal bond with anyone (don't click with Kenny, Luke's falling off, really liked Jane but knew she was gonna bail, and I trust/like Mike and Bonnie but don't have a connection with them).

  • Am I the only one just staring at the gif and laughing? xD

  • Agreed all around. I think I'm more disappointed about the sibling bond trailing off than I am anything.

Just for curiosity sake, what happens if you do steal the medicine? Is he happy that you stole it or did he mean that Jane comparison as a bad thing?

  • I agree with that, Kenny and Luke were evened out this episode. Kenny yelled at Clementine and made her feel guilty as hell for a death that wasn't her fault. Luke gave into some desires and put his group at risk. I find what Kenny did more personally offensive but the poor thing has been through hell so I can forgive him. Luke was just careless and he didn't mean to hurt anyone and he's still nice to Clem so a choice between the two has been made harder.

  • Yeah, it's actually kind of disappointing now since it's one of the things I was looking forward to the most, which is why I don't think adding a romance for Luke was a good idea, it just distracted from time that could've been better spent developing their sibling bond. I was hoping they'd pick it up again this episode, when I saw the trailer and Luke was asking if Clem was okay, but that was just badly implemented this episode... because like I said the romance aspect distracted from it. There were the hit and hug options in episode 3 that fit with the sibling-like bond though, but like you said there really hasn't been much otherwise since episode 2.

    Love that gif. xD

But yeah, I agree with you. I didn't see it as that bad a thing to be honest. It's not the worst thing you can do anyway and I'm sure Luke is still a morally correct person. Having sex at a time like this especially would ease pressure and allow for people to enjoy themselves. Still though, bad as shit timing to do it. With Rebecca about to have a baby and all.

  • I know, I was in stitches when I found it. Luke looks so determined swooping on over to hug Jane's leg doesn't he, heheh XD

That GIF is the best thing ever.

  • Lol Luke looking all sad and scared. I don't think they were having sex just a good ol handy j xD
