No pleasing Kenny

Like a majority of people (according to the stats) I chopped off Sarita's arm in an attempt to save her. This lead to Sarita's immediate demise and Kenny's ire and wrath. This I can expect giving the circumstances where I was at fault for causing her to scream, which led walkers to swarm her. So in the interest of seeing how the results could change I re-did the last part (I am still keeping my arm chopping choice, this is for science!) in which I decided to kill the walker instead of chopping off Sarita's arm. The results kinda surprised me.

While Kenny was not as annoyed, to begin with, with Clem, he still harbors ill will towards Clementine. I did the whole apologetic route - sorry about Sarita, I tried to save her, there was nothing else I could do - and Kenny still FLAT OUT said that Clementine is at fault for what happen to Sarita. Like, what the hell?! Damned if you do, damned if you don't? There is no pleasing Kenny. I know Kenny is a hot head, but this outright pisses me off that he KNOWS that with this choice option that Clementine had nothing to do with what happen to Sarita. He could have blamed anybody else... himself, Luke, Mike, Carlos.... Sarah (the source of the disturbance to begin with) etc, and where does he lay the blame? Clem...

Damn you, Telltale! You're making me hate a character... well done.

  • Well I kind of get where he's coming from when it comes to the whole sarita situation. He did lose someone he loved again.

  • Really? Dude, he just lost his second love...the woman he thought he could rebuild his life with. Clem wasn't the reason, but she was in the scene. Yeah, he was irrational, but that moment tore his life a part for a second time. He's only human, and even after that, he's only Kenny, who has always been an emotional, irrational guy that thinks on his toes. It was wrong of him to be pissed at Clem, sure, since she was already gone. But really, maybe he wanted some peace. I don't know if she gets away with the group when her arm isnt chopped off, but when you cut her arm off that's a quick goodbye.

And even then, his anger towards clem is a brief moment in time. He pretty quickly jumps off that track, even if it's to jump into another problem solving situation. It's pretty obvious at this point he's losing his marbles. I honestly didn't feel angry at him as Clem at this point. I understood. I felt bad for him. He's basically losing himself

  • Ya what you said.

People don't think straight when they are emotionally impacted. His reaction is completely natural and I don't blame him.

  • Kenny had i suppose a normal reaction, but its still hard to trust him.

  • He was just lashing out at everyone around him because Sarita was dying. He yells at Mike and Bonnie too before Clem arrives at the meeting place. I think he's only angry with Clem in particular if Clem chopped off Sarita's arm. Otherwise he's just venting his frustrations on everyone around him instead of actually harboring ill will.

If you think about it Kenny doesn't know the outcomes. Kill the walker and he'd never think of what would happen if you cut it off. Cut it off and he couldn't imagine if you didn't. He can't see all the possibilities, but we can.

No, Sarita doesn't get away with the group if you chop her arm off. She dies right there, after being swarmed by walkers.

*****SPOILER***** You have the option to try and convince Kenny to leave before she turns, or plunge the hatchet into her head to prevent her from turning and forcing Kenny to move on. As you can imagine the latter option infuriates Kenny.

*****Edit***** Oops I didn't read that correctly. Thought you said you didn't know if she gets away with her arm is chopped off. To that answer I can say that Sarita does get away with Kenny and is at the meeting point when you arrive.

  • Ah, I see. Then I have no regrets. Still, I find his reaction to be pretty reasonable, if you put yourself in his shoes. The frustration gets so bad, you need any outlet you can get, or you become Sarah I guess

  • Agreed. Initially, I was hoping that there would be an option to yell back at him, but then I realized it was grief talking. Improperly projecting blame happens all the time. Besides, after Kenny had some time, he was acting more like his usual self. I was expecting him to blow up when Clem checks on him the second time, but he didn't, and he even acknowledged that she was trying to console him.

  • I axed Sarita when she was turning and Kenny called me a "stupid fucking kid", man I felt terrible.
