  • You also do realize that a lot of other websites give CoD high scores right? Additionally, their CoD reviews represent EVERY SINGLE REVIEW they put out? Yeah pretty stupid to judge it on that. If you people actually read some of their reviews instead of jumping to the number at the end, you'd see that there a lot of fantastic reviews.

Greg Miller is the only one I don't like at IGN, other than that I'm fine with them. Though this is their opinions.

  • Everyone has their own score for the episode, I'm still thinking about my score.... I feel really sad after playing it.... which really just shows you how good Telltale is at making the episode play with your emotions.

I'm surprised they weren't kissing ass for this one *cause they usually do. Hmm. Wonder who stopped receiving $$$.

  • I agree with the rating.

The way the handled Nick and Sarah was absolute bullshit.

WHAT???! 6/10 ARE THEY INSANE??! I'm done. I'm so done. Like. with everything. The episode deserves a freaking 12/10 imo. But really??! 6/10? That's ridiculous. Screw IGN 50 times over, I'm never believing what they say.

Why is Luke, who apparently tracked down the group for days without sleep or food, focused and obsessing over his plans, throwing away his inhibition to get laid?

I agree that this was out of character. They could have shown other ways of him buckling under the pressure or stress that made more sense for him.

Them being written from the plot strikes me more as if the writers have grown bored of the character's arc and want to get rid of them

Sarah had a lot of potential but unfortunately I think she got the Duck, Larry, and Ben treatment. Telltale noticed how her character received a lot of hate and decided to give the decision if she lives or dies (sort of, since her death is only delayed for less than a day game-time) to the players.

Nick's death was horrible. Someone mentioned this before, but why not have made him sacrifice himself for the group? They could have made Nick be the one to get through to Sarah after relating her experience to Pete's death. He then could have been attacked when he lifted the girls up to safety. If he wasn't saved in episode two, they could have just proceeded as they did in this episode where he Clem got through to her. At least some sort of sacrifice or heroic moment for Nick would have made more sense for his arc than just appearing as a walker.

  • I usually try to stay out of negative threads and try not to fuel them, they're just gonna lead to pointless arguing anyway, but I need to agree here with you. That's exactly how I felt after playing this episode too and it makes me extremely sad. I love Telltale, I love TWD, but no matter how hard I try, I just can't make myself like this episode.

Downvote me all you want, but I think their score for Episode 4 is still way too high.

Decisions that don't matter - killing an interesting character offscreen (Nick), making Kenny a jerk who blames everyone for everything, forcing us to choose between two characters who will be both gone anyway by the end of the episode, broken storyline (Carver killed Alvin in episode 2 in my playthrough and the episode states that Alvin stood up to Carver, what the hell?!), adult characters behave like dumbasses (Luke with keeping watch; Mike and Bonnie are searching the museum for an hour and YET it's the Clementine who finds water by LIFTING THE GRATE!) establishing a new group of 'villains' for the final episode about whom we do not know anything (except they're BAD because reasons), ending the episode with the exact same cliffhanger as in two previous episodes - the group in peril (oh, how original).

The story is supposed to be tailored by how I play - and it was in Season 1. Now Telltale is not even pretending anymore. As this is a sole reason of why these games had so much impact, taking out the meaningfull choices is a disaster.

6/10 is still too generous in my opinion for a broken episode, the worst in TWD history. And I'm saying this as a fan who loves Season 1 and liked Season 2 so far. Unfortunately, Episode 4 completely ruined the experience for me.

  • While I disagree with you about the rating, you're right that they handled Sarah and Nick completely wrong

  • It isn't just the one reviewer. They all have screwed up.

Mitch Dyer is the one that gave Ep.4 a 6/10. He also gave Double Dragon Neon a 3/10. Gave Ninja Gaiden 3 a 3/10.The Silent Hill HD Collection, with is one of the worst HD re-releases ever made, he gave a 9/10, and Rock Band: Green Day a 4.5/5.

Colin Moriarty gave the Another World re-release a 4/10, stating that the game had bad controls like Telltale's TWD, and he gave Castlevania: Lords of Shadow: Mirror of fate a 3/10 simply for not being Symphony of the Night,.

Jose Otero gave Hitman: Absolution an A-, which isn't actually that good of a Hitman game compared to Contracts or Blood Money, and gave Kirby: Triple Deluxe a 6/10 for being "too easy".

I'd like to say that I do know my shit, but I don't think you can say the same about these clowns. There's a reason why people don't like IGN.

Maybe YOU don't know your shit. IGN has some fantastic editors there. "Worse?" It's FAR from being the worse. You want bad gaming websites?

  • Not to be rude, but anyone who takes IGN as anything less than garbage is naive. All that likely happened here is IGN went all mob boss on TellTale. "Nice game you got there. Sure would be a shame if somewhere were to... review it unfavorably."

  • This is the internet, and even if it was not justified to be unsatisfied with their unreliable biased reviews, people would hate them anyways. Because as I said, this is the internet, where everyone and everything will get negative feedback.

I am not saying that everybody needs to die as a hero. But take Nick - I know that his determinant status was probably a problem for TT, but many players (me included) decided to keep him alive because of his interesting background and character in general. And then, without warning, he gets killed offscreen with no proper send off. For instance, I'm NOT OKAY with him suddenly appearing as a walker, with TT thinking that will be enough as a closure. With everything that happened, I would take it a lot better if we were shown that he was bitten/killed during the herd scene (because I knew that he will die anyway - determinant characters never make it to the end of the season), but what was done in the game felt like a cheap trick.

Sarah - she FINALLY had a potential to become an interesting character. She was naive and innocent, just like Clementine in S1. I thought that with a major turning point in her life - THE DEATH OF HER GUARDIAN - she would finaly snap and learn new survival skills, for TT to show that while no one gave her any chance, she would oultive all those scheming adults. All the build up - becoming friends with Clem, teaching Sarah how to use a gun - was thrown out of the window.

Sarah is killed no matter what, but at least saving Jane over her would give us some compensation. But NO - Jane is gone in the VERY NEXT SCENE ANYWAY! What's the purpose of chosing between characters (arguably both Sarah and Jane are the characters on which the ep is focused) who will disappear no matter what? I know why - because creating too many branching storylines was the problem which TT even pointed out before the release of TWD S1 finale and they're probably trying to avoid it now.

The thing is, by doing that they have completely ruined the main - and ONLY - game mechanic in TWD. What's the point of saying that the story is tailored by how I play when it's NOT? Although S1 treaded along one scripted path, the changes and alterations made up for a unique experience for every player. The same cannot be said about S2 and episode 4 in particular. No consequence of choices = no unique experience, and that's how they're advertising this game.

  • Sarah was fucked, I knew that from episode 1, that's why I didn't promise her anything. I didn't like her, but I didn't blame her, it was Carlos's fault that she was like that, but that's not the point.

The point is you possibly couldn't change 15 year old girl mindset in few days, she had to die, if she didn't, it'd be like if she won the lottery, 1:100000000 chance.

  • The thing is, with previous episodes where you could help her and teach her to use a gun etc. Episode 4 FINALY gave me hope that Sarah WILL change with the most powerful scene of the episode which many people probably missed if she died in the trailer - trying to convince her by talking doesn't work and the Clementine finaly SLAPS her. That's when Sarah starts to understand the situation around her - a second shock that, after passing, could have resulted in her finally accepting Carlos's death and learning to survive.

But no, Telltale decided to troll everyone. "Oh, you saved her? That's funny, guess who will die in the next 40 minutes..." -.-
