Episode 4 was GREAT!
It's funny... previous episodes have been criticized for being too short, not enough hub areas, not enough choices, etc. Now we get an episode that deals with all these concerns; it's a long episode with multiple hubs and choices... yet people complain? Ugh...
Anyway - I thought this episode was great. Trying to be the glue that holds this group together, and carrying the others through hardship. I think it was great.
The thing about creating something for the entertainment of others is that in most cases people that enjoy the content doesn't always find it neccessary to tell the creators, but if someone has an issue with the content they're very vocal about it. I just wanted to show my appreciation for this perticular episode, and hope that others do the same.

I agree, my favourite episode of season 2.
I agree, I also enjoyed this episode a lot and can't wait to see where the finale takes us.
Only criticism of the episode was how Nicks and Sarah's deaths were handled.
I don't think it was the strongest episode, but I think that everyone coming here to discuss the episodes shows the devs that people care (whether players like the episode or not).
Otherwise people wouldn't come here. I never go to the forums of a game site to tell someone how I don't like it.
Yep best this season, Nick was my only real complaint. Not being able to save sarah was kind of accurate honestly.
As I said before. The best episode so far in my opinion.
This episode was very depressing, so many people died. Sarah, Sarita, Nick, and Rebecca.
Yep this. I loved the episode but I feel nicks death could have been handled better.
Agreed, only thing that bothered me was the lack of 400 days characters and Eddie! What the hell is he doing in episode 4 slide,he weren't in the episode? explain telltale!
I loved "Amid the Ruins", more than any episode of Season 2 so far, for these reasons;
My only criticisms, are with the deaths of Nick and Sarah. I feel that Sarah deserved to survive until the final episode, and I feel Nick deserved so much more than an off-screen death.
I'd give this episode an easy 9/10.
I got to finally play the game this evening and I loved it as much as I enjoyed watching the playthrough.
Hubs beautiful hubs and the right amount too, plenty of button smashing moments that at times had me stopping and thinking for a second, showing the difficulty is stepping up as we get closer to the end. Also got to spend more time with a lot of the characters, I actually don't mind Jane now, and I love how Mike was given plenty of screentime with Bonnie, which was cute [although he's got no remember lines so I'm going to assume he's so dead episode 5 T_T Miiiiike.] But I liked too there was a lot of development on the characters, and I love that Kenny scared the crap out of me in a protective 'don't you dare think about shooting Clem or hurting her' way because when playing or watching that feeling was still with me.
Few things here and there I'm a little sad on, but for me it's a great episode. My favorite alongside Episode 2 =D
yeah i loved this episode it was intense , full of action and it did seem longer than the previous few plus its got me excited for the finale which will be out real soon RIGHT TELLTALE
I felt very angry when Jane decided to leave! I liked her and felt she had much to teach me, but apparently the bad past with her sister left her a little distant from people. and after what happened to Sarah, she reminded her past all over again and decided to go away.. : (
But Yeah! this episode was great indeed. not as intense as the episode 03 was. still filled with difficult choices and exciting moments! xD
Great episode indeed! I doubted almost every choice I made. A lot of people are upset over Sarah's death but I thought it was incredibly effective. She and Jane seemed like representations of Clementine's past and future respectively. If Clementine was still clinging to any sense of childish naivete, seeing Sarah crushed that and Jane pretty much tells Clementine to be like her if she wants to survive.
Yeah! Mike did a good job!
I enjoyed episode 4 also quite a comeback from episode three which I thought was the worse
That's a very interesting thought. Thanks for sharing.
I agree. This was a great episode.
I liked the episode but I was expecting to see Eddie, and Clementine without her hat!
I also really liked this episode. It has been the only one so far this season in which I had to pause often to think about the dialogue options. There were so many that were tough to find the right balance on how I've wanted to play. I've been over E4 at least 5 times in the last two days; compared to previous episodes I've done 5-6 times, over a two months. Plus this has been the only episode that has outright made me laugh. When Mike, Bonnie and Clem find the racoon inside the museum, Mike's first comment, and the way he said it, "I'd eat the shit out of that racoon." still makes me giggle and laugh.
Me too.
double post.
Love seeing a thread like this for a change, GJ OP
.
I loved the other episodes too but this one is probably the best of the season for me as well.
Yup loved it as i have with every other episode in seasons 1 & 2 its never let me down well done telltale
Eddie, along with Carley and Doug was never planned to be in episode 4 and was just used as a placeholder.
Favoritte ep, it made me feel like i was playing S1 episodes, the ending was so sad, and i found amazing how PLEASE STOP READING IF YOU HAVE NOT PLAYED EP4' SPOILER HERE Rebecca didn't bite her baby even when she turned, she was hugging him, i feel really bad for her :l this ep was awesome, i can't wait for the last one x3
Pretty funny, really. There's the people who are crying out for blood because some reviewers are giving the episode a lower score. Then there are those who say the episode was terrible. This community, I swear...
I liked it too, I thought i was playing S1 again!!
I loved it. Best episode so far this season, much better than episode 3 (dont get me wrong, episode 3 was good, but, episode 4 has outdone it). It was an emotional rollercoaster.
Wait, people actually liked it? This was seriously the worst episode from both seasons.
Yeah... sure it was...
cough Best episode of season 2 cough
Thats your opinion and you have a right to express it. Doesn't mean you are right though lol
I'm aware it's my opinion but I mean come on, the puzzles the hubs and the character exploration we learned lots about Jane and learned about Mike and Bonnie's personality a lot better. It maybe not the best to some people but how in the world could it be worse than in Harms Way (not saying its terrible but it doesn't compare)
I was talking to that nadir person
Yeah I know, I just felt a little guilty as well after you said that.
Yeah I know, I just felt a little guilty as well after you said that.
Its all good, no problem. Honestly though why are a lot of people hating on this episode? It was better than episode 3 in terms of hubs and character development.
All deaths were poorly developed (and some even had emotion). I give 8 for this episode. I'm just saying ( And the 3rd episode was better ... This episode is just better than All That Remains. Im just saying² ).
I didn't say Carley and doug would have appeared in the episode, they were placeholders for sure. But Eddie's face can clearly be seen without lightening the slide like a crazy. And what about the Vince and Kenny looking siluets?
^This is an excellent description of Lee, and how he influenced Clementine. And now, she has been doing her best to maintain order.
But, as other characters have stated, Clementine the person must be a priority. To survive and live in her current world, pragmatism must be foremost on her mind. The current group has been nothing more than a collection of individuals with only two common connecting threads--"my" or "our" survival (e.g., Alvin, Rebecca and her baby; Carlos and Sarah), and Carver's community. The groups in Season 1 were a collection of individuals and smaller groups. They had a degree of cohesiveness...when life was good. When reality set in, bickering was the norm. Episode 4 had a multitude of situations that illustrated what has been said in Seasons 1 and 2: have a plan, stay away from large groups, people will hate you for doing the right thing, and so forth. Jane just reinforced what is the norm now, how Clementine can recognize the signs, and what she must do before the situation becomes worse.
We have witnessed Clementine's self-assertion in a variety of situations. In Episode 4, it was stronger and the adults listened and did what was asked.
I would not be too surprised if Clementine will run through a gamut of feelings, questions, and doubts associated with decisions she had made, and will need to make for herself in the final episode. Everything she has/will have experienced will probably culminate into a final choice, hence the image for the Episode 5 final achievement.
I have a feeling that Episode 5 will be similar to Episode 4, but to the tenth power. We will be emotionally spent.
Favorite episode of season 2 for sure. Even surpassing episode 2.
