My S2E5 Theory (the mother of all callbacks)

Earlier on, we all made the connection between Rebecca and Christa. The troubled pregnancy troupe has been around forever, but we just didn't know how to connect them yet. HERE'S how I believe they connect.

Omid asked Christa in the opening seconds of Season 2 regarding the baby's name (which shall forever go unknown). After a second playthrough of Amid The Ruins tonight, suddenly I had some sort of epiphany. The baby is still not named (which is a blatant plot device) as of the closing of S2E4. With that in mind, here's what I'm fairly sure will happen at the end of No Going Back.

=============================

Through the events of No Going Back, Clementine, 1 other group member (Determinant, and seriously injured) manage to make it up north to Wellington (or at least to a settlement of some kind... Perhaps in that town they spotted from the observation deck). It's freezing. She reaches a group that seems totally legitimate. Upon her arrival, a kind member of the crew lets her and her injured companion inside, and they get a short respite. Immediately thereafter, the leader of the community comes in, sees Clementine, the baby and her companion, and becomes infuriated. After a heated argument, the aforementioned crew member regretfully informs Clementine that, since Winter is here, they don't have enough food to keep everybody.

Clementine, after a short bit of internal conflict, begs the other survivor to let the baby stay. The survivor agrees. Just before Clementine is turned out again to face the cold, walkers, and starvation, the survivor asks: "What's the baby's name?" THIS is when the choice comes into play.

=============================

I know this may seem a tad far-fetched, and it's not perfect.... But the final scene almost has to be naming the baby. Starting the Second Season with the exact same conundrum they set up for Episode 5 can't be a coincidence. It makes a perfect bookend to a fantastic video game, in my opinion.

  • Genius.

  • The Baby will be named Lee no exceptions.

    I like your idea, if I could add some tention to it, Lilly made it all the way to Wellington and she became the group leader or at the very least - part of the group. Depending on whether your Lee throughout Season 1 helped her save Larry and stayed on her side rather than Kenny's, she will insist on Clementine staying, otherwise Lilly will just make things a lot harder for our heroine.

    Any thoughts on my headcannon ?

  • I thought a similar thing when I was replaying All That Remains the other day. It'd be amazing if naming the baby was the very last bit of dialogue for the season.

  • I think we will meet Lee as walker. In episode 5 our group(what remain) will meet Lee in building , where Clementine left him or semewhere else

  • Wasn't the place where Lee previously was, was near a church? I think you might be right.

  • But i am afraid i am not right, because place where Lee died was in Savanna and no where are they.

  • I'm sorry, but Lee was shot in a jewelry store in Savannah, which the majority of the players chose to do. Furthermore, even if he was not shot and ''lived'', his corpse couldn't go anywhere, because he was handcuffed. I don't want to offend you, but you forgot the first season's endings.

  • I know, but zombies travel. Clem met Kenny, she can meet Lee too. Oh well, it was fun to think about.

  • you didn't have to handcuff or shoot lee, so we could see him as a walker.

  • Ok,but i didnt shot him and remember ,zombies can lost hand. If you choose to shot him, we saw Clementine´s gunfire , but we didnt see if she shot him .so there is evidence he is not dead-maybe. And I apologize for my English

  • True but why would Lee/It bother anyway? Walkers seem to only do something like that if they're motivated to, like seeing a living person. If anybody was to make their way into that store, they'd either kill it or leave it alone. If it broke free and killed someone then managed to make it's way out of that building then fair enough but it wouldn't travel all the way to Wellington like that. Wellington and most places in season 2 would be far far away from Savannah because of the 16 month time gap plus the 400 Days. In that much time, Clementine must have moved far away enough that we'll never see Lee again.
