Molly vs Jane
Hey everyone. So this is just a little disscusion I wanted to start to see where the community stands in regards to both of these characters, seeing as they have many similarities. Both prefer to be alone than with a group, both have lots of knowledge and skills, both had sisters who died in the earlier stages of the apocalypse, and both of them leave the group. Who do you think is better?
Personally, I like Molly better than Jane. She seems easier to get along with, and I think her parkour skills give her a one up on Jane. So who do you like better?

I liked Molly a lot more than I do with Jane. She was a lot more upbeat, even with her sister and everything and I just didn't enjoy talking to Jane much, even though she did have more knowledge and skill when it came to defending yourself. I felt like with what happened to Jaime just kind of shut Jane down and made her a lot more serious and just not the type of person I personally like. I'd take her over Jane any day. :P
I felt Jane's cooler, more calculating personality fit the loner thing a lot better, her backstory and relationship with her sister were far more fleshed out, and her dialogue seemed more natural. She's also less full of herself and doesn't try as hard to appear young and in-your-face. (I still cringe every time Molly says "Who's the fossil?" That's 1950's punk-levels of edginess, Molly. Do better.)
Jane also had my second favorite line this episode, when talking about her sister: "She thought I was her best friend. That couldn't go...unpunished." There's so much character in that line.
Jane is too similar to Molly for me to like her as much as I did for Molly. I'm not even a fan of Jane, so I pick Molly. Jane should have been Molly, or Telltale shouldn't have put Jane in because she's too much like Molly.
Molly all the way she is like the Michonne of the game but can do parkour and has a better personality imo
Molly because she wasn't as heartless. Also Molly hugs Lee and tells him Clem thinks the world of him so sweet unlike Jane
Molly because she tried to help and isn't as selfish. Jane has to be told to help for her to listen.
Molly
Janes less full of herself
ok
Molly
Jane has a lot knowledge about surviving, but damn she's cold.
Molly all the way. Plus, Molly does parkour ! And she hugged Lee and told sweet things about Clem.
I gotta wonder what your favorite line was. xD
In a fight, I think Molly would probably win, she's the most skilled survivor I've see thus far.
She doesn't put others down to inflate her own ego. Molly does. Jane is self-centered, don't get me wrong. She just seemed like less of a show-off.
The one that involves Mike and a very poor choice of phrasing.
Molly had a diabetic sister that was murdered for her own liability to a survivalist organization, even after Molly performed degrading sexual acts in order to do whatever it took to save her sister. She is a scavenger, avoided Crawford for months, and has been doing all she can to survive. She reluctantly offers her Ice Pick, Hilda, to Lee, saved his life in the process and then proceeded to assist on the assault on Crawford and managed to lug around a heavy car battery and help Lee escape walkers invading the garage. She takes a memento of her sister, and hides her turmoil as best she can, although she is prone to a temper. She probably survives, only to forgo the boat plan and leave without so much as reward, even possibly thanking Lee.
Jane had a younger sister named Jaime who she used to pick on because in her own way. Her sister naively believed in her and thought sisters were supposed to do anything for each other, with Jane even saying "She thought I was her best friend. That couldn't go...unpunished." She dragged her sister through four months of the Apocalypse, dragging her, carrying her, convincing her. It seemed like a forced march through hell, but Jane even if she picked on Jaime, loved her sister more than anything. But finally she stopped and gave up on her sister. She suggests the plan to escape covered in Walker guts, respects Clementine as an adult-figure and capable, and shoots Troy in the balls. She makes a cow-catcher to push aside Walkers in the horde, saves Rebecca and Clem. She teaches Clementine capable and useful techniques on how to take out Walkers and scavenge, akin to Christa, Omid, and Lee. She is gungho initially about saving Sarah, but faces her own horrors when she sees Jaime in Sarah. She insists on letting go because of it. Jane comforts Luke about his 'eagerness' to abandon Sarah as a rational decision, and also backs Clementine's decision with Sarita as well. She goes to secure an observation deck, robs Arvo of his gun and sends him off. If you imply you thought she was going to shoot him, she retorts "Did you want me to shoot him?!". Then she has a fling with Luke at the worst time possible for it, and then if Sarah was saved, is willing to risk her own life to try and save Sarah, akin to Jaime. Jane likely resolves to leave the group on the principal of it's liabilities and weaknesses, alongside the traumatic event of reliving Jaime through Sarah. Even worse is Clementine, someone she bonded with and adores is very likely to make her end-up reliving Jaime's demise a third time if something happens. So she leaves for her own health and survival and offers a file.
TLDR;
Both are loners. Both are aware of liabilities. Both had sex.
Jane is more tactical, cold, but is more prone to emotional and impulsive decisions. She's more in it for the now, compared to devoting time and resources to making things last. Confidence is questionable at best, due to failing Jaime and casual sex with Luke/Troy and the implications behind that.
Molly's confidence is a bit low, leaving Lee's group thinking she'd be a burden, and also having sold herself out sexually for her sister's sake. She's got alot of spunk and energy, and is extremely capable and athletic, able to climb up buildings and the like with ease. She's pretty generous, and flexible. Goes with the flow.
I'd say Molly's easiest to get along with and valuable to have to the group, but Jane's tactical mind is extremely valuable, even if she is a liability for abandoning you.
Molly was true badass with some sick skills. I damn liked her.
I dunno, I liked Molly.
The reason she ended up leaving in the end was mostly so she wouldn't take a person's spot on the boat since it had a capacity limit. She had every intention of tagging along at first. But when Kenny mentioned the capacity limit when Ben confessed, she probably thought that if she could survive on her own, why take the spot of someone else who depended on that boat ride with the group to survive? Molly was a nice kid.
Jane just...leaves. Leaving them to deal with the mess concerning Arvo and buddies. She was a rather good person, it was clear that Clem was having a positive influence on her, but she still messed up a bit. That whole "offering herself" to Luke in the middle of a tough situation thing didn't help either.
Molly
Molly, any day of the week.
Molly > Jane
In S1, I liked Molly, she was cool and I trusted her. However I did get a little suspicious of her during the Crawford breakout but that suspicion was thrown away when she told us her background (her sister and how she used to be a member of Crawford.) also Molly felt more genuine.
Jane on the other hand, I wasn't too keen on trusting her from the beginning. She seemed super smart (for a zombie apocalypse) and knew more things than others (at least compared to our group). The entire time she was with us she was forcing Clem to make hard decisions (leaving Sarah and robbing Arvo) and I had this feeling she would leave us if she had too or even worse, when we needed her most. I never had this feeling from Molly. Also Jane made some really dumb mistakes such as getting it on with Luke when the group needed them (both their faults but Jane offered). Molly was similar in having sexual actions with someone else but it was to save her sister while Jane's intentions were more selfish at the time.
Yeah. I think the parkour gives her quite the advantage.
Molly got killed and was reincarnated as Jane.
In a fight I think Molly would win because of hilda, but idk why I just never liked Molly, so I would say I prefer Jane, I just liked her more than I did Molly...
Molly.
I don't remember seeing Jane as agile with a car battery in her backpack as much as Molly. Actually, I don't see Jane as agile as much as Molly in general.
Molly.
Jane actually taught Clementine useful skills, is more of a practical realist, a more dimensional character, and a lot more interesting.
I abstain, Can't choose, Both are on my favorite gaming characters list.
Jane is like Obi-Wan Kenobi. You meet she helps out teaches you her phillosophy and then she is gone.
