Two thoughts
I've been thinking a lot since I watched two gameplays of S2E4 (with the opposite choices) and I wanted to share what I was thinking in case anybody was interested in discusssing as I think this point hasn't been raised before. It's about the character deaths.
A lot of people have been complaining that characters die without pomp and cirmunstance and we end up not really caring about them. They die so quickly and sometimes out of screen when we were barely getting to know them that's it's difficult to care, unlike Season 1. But I've been thinking: Is it really lazy/sloppy writing or is TT trying to make a point? In Season 1, the apocalypse had just begun and every death meant something because it was something so out of the ordinary. We were faced with having to choose things we would have never done before, and a lot of times we had more than one life in our hands. And we cared, because our morals were still very present from before the apocalypse and we had a little girl at our care that was our responsability.
But in Season 2, Lee is gone and Clem is still around, but she's not the same. Her innocence is gone, as is the player's. Death is part of these characters now, and with each day they get more and more used to it, to the point where characters won't feel as sad as before when someone dies, because they have seen it before and many times. So I keep thinking that's why in this season the deaths aren't as important or gut-punching as before. Of course, getting used to it is the worst part. But it is what it is. Anyone else feel the same way?
Also, I think it would be interesting if for Season 3 Clem had to raise the baby by her own. I don't know how it would be logically possible as he won't have any milk and will be a liability but I do think it would provide an interesting parallel with Season 1. Thanks to what Clem learned from getting taken care by Lee, she can now raise a life on her own. A time skip would probably be needed, but I'd keep the first episode with Clem the age she is right now, and maybe the second one have the skip with the baby along. Heck, it would be interesting if it actually depended on you, in the sense that regarding the choices you make, the baby lives or dies. Maybe it's a little too heavy but it could work, if done tastefully.
Just my two cents.
