Do the events on the bridge HAVE to happen this way?

Episode 2 spoilers...

I've started through my second playthrough of season 2 (the not so nice Clem playthrough), and I'm pretty sure that I noticed that in the 'next time on TWD...' sequence from episode 1 -> 2 it shows Matthew at the lodge with Walter. Seeing this i tried to do something different on the bridge to have a different outcome, but it ended the same way with Matthew falling after getting shot. Is there a way to prevent this? Or is the preview just there so that we won't think he's fated to die?

    The previews are made before the episodes themselves, TellTale usually change a lot for the actual episode. So they decided to kill off Matthew after All That Remains had already been released.

    The "Next Time On" is basically a 60 second mashup of TellTale's basic ideas for the episode. But, within the 2-month or so time frame that they have to make the episode, their ideas will change. So unfortunately his death is preset.

    Nothing you can do to prevent Nick from taking out Matthew, which stinks because Matthew seemed like a real cool dude.
