Possible timeline for season 3!

Okay so we're nearing the end of season 2 with fingers crossed for a next one which hopefully will happen. We've already been discussing the possible protagonist candidates (mainly an older version of Clementine). It's safe to assume that the post-apocalyptic timeline in the game is roughly reaching the same timeline as the comics and the series. I think it would be pretty interesting for the next season of the game to feature a timeline quite far into the ZA. Say 10-15 years would be pretty interesting. Maybe it can take place in Wellington or any strong-knit community and then we'd probably see more colonial territories, largely populated societies with strange policies. I think it would be pretty darn interesting to see how a community like that functions since it'd have to have some peculiar/interesting rules for it to keep functioning for so long.

As for the protagonist I for one wouldn't mind playing as an older version of Clementine (provided she survives(I hope so!)) or a entirely differently protagonist (maybe a child born at the dawn of the apocalypse!) and then get into their back story. But being in an admirably large community with better safety standards we'd probably get to communicate with people more, it would certainly feel more natural (provided people aren't too reserved at that time!). Then we can have that society crumble and have to deal with repairing it or even hold our ground against other communities.

It would just be an entirely new ground for the game to explore, it would also be nice to see things from the perspective of a character who has lived his/her whole life through the ZA and isn't latching onto the last bit of humanity. Maybe we get rebels who want a more humane society or the opposite thing and we have the responsibility of upholding order. Maybe Clementine can be the sheriff! or the rebel wanting a better and more humane society.

Season 2's theme has seemed to be Clementine's inner struggle for moral ground and the long hard travel with the promise of a better life. But of course a 'good' life can't exist within the ZA but it'd be nice for our Clem to find a place within a community. What do you guys think? What do you think would be a good timeline for the next season?

    A strong believer right here ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

That sounds cool, get ready for the fanboys.

Not sure where to put this, but I don't watch the show or read the comics. I only really like the games and as such, I'm curious on one thing.

Do the walkers not decompose to the point of dying after a while? We've already seen some rotting and if I've heard right, we're suppose to be catching up with the TV series/comics when it comes to the timeline.

  • Well with the recent 2 year time skip in the comics Kirkman has put us pretty far out, about Spring Year 4 AI (After Infection), and already they've constructed a pretty well kept area of communities around D.C. From my calculations I'd say we're at the start of Winter 2 AI, which puts us within the time skip.

  • you'd have to figure the walkers would rot to the point of being unable to move eventually; but I guess you can just add in a little more suspension of reality and say they rot so slowly it takes a loooooong time for that to happen (as long as they are still "alive" and haven't been put down).

for a timeline of season 3.... if they want to stick with Clem as the main character, perhaps jump ahead 6-7 years and have her play the part of Lee, having to protect/guide/teach baby-no-name-yet (assuming the baby makes it past 2-05).

  • Thanks. If they've managed to build communities, then could there be a chance the walkers are starting to decompose?

I only wonder this as I'm wondering where they're going with the series and will there be an end to the apocalypse.

  • The communities in the comics are really interesting. I suppose the walkers would eventually rot but I still suspect outbreaks happening in certain communities like it did with Crawford. The number of walkers will certainly decrease but even after that there would be anarchy, confusion and I think that the communities will continue to be at war for a long time. In the comic the focal point has shifted towards the communities and their interactions a lot more and I only hope to see that in the next season in the game.

  • Yeah I really like the idea of Clementine having to take care of the baby. It'll definitely be pretty awesome seeing what kind of decisions have to be made when Clementine gets the responsibility. It'll be a great acknowledgement to S1 as well.
