I just came to a sudden realisation.

Since the devs have been hinting between a possible Kenny/Luke choice with the whole Pizza/Icecream shite.

Wouldn't that make Kenny/Luke's fate determinant? Now we should be well aware the determinant characters don't survive to long after they die, so wouldn't it render the choice useless or will they take the time to establish both paths in season 3?

  • Telltale will probably do to Kenny/Luke in season 3 what they did to Christa and Omid.

well, no. They'll probably make it go like

Kenny: Clementine, we have to go to wellington in that building noW

Luke: clem, come with me, we need to go back. it's 2 cold 4 me, 4 us, 4 the baby.... let go

X.GO WITH KENNY. X GO WITH LUKE

Either way clementine's story can end right there and season 3 can start off with somebody new (which better not happeN) or it will end up with whoever you went dying or splitting and clementine ending up alone with the baby.

  • I would highly doubt they'd end the story and move to a new protagonist since at this point they built up Clem for two seasons and the Walking Dead doesn't drop everything and follow a new group unless it's a spin-off.

  • Probably so which if they do why even chose one or the other? For a more memorable death? Maybe even a few extra minutes to spend with the character. I personally would love for them to delve deeper into the character that you choose rather than prevent their death for an episode or two.

Um they did that with season 1 and seems like they're about to do it again lol... they kill off characters every episode and it's ridiculous. And knowing telltale and their pretty bad, typical writing. It seems possible they'll kill off Clem for a cheap tear. They probably think this is a good idea but if they do come off with that that would probably be the most stupidest things they'd ever do and be really crucial for most fans since they'd lose a lot of them and a lot of money.

If you're reading this telltale, please do not kill off clementine. Just end her story with a cliff hanger or something... or at least a happy ending for once.

  • Clem and Kenny are still there Christa and Omid was there in the beginning. They will keep Clem I know it she's basically the Rick of the TT story.

they were there. Omid for like 10 minutes, and christa for 20.

  • Sadly I think it's more likely you'll get to choose between them, and then in s3 - probably episode 2 you'll run into the other dude again.

I really hope one of them actually dies, and that you get to influence it.

Maybe they'll even be heartless bastards, so that if you choose to (let's say) go with Kenny over Luke - it'll end up being Kenny who dies, specifically because of your choice - which'll then feed the storyline of s3 - in which Clem starts to have serious doubts about herself and her role in the world and in any group.

I realized this a few days ago. So, the whole choice seems meaningless in a situation of choosing to save one over the other.

I personally hope that the choice will be more of a:

Go with Kenny to Wellington and risk it being or not being the safe haven

Go with Luke and keep traveling to find a safer place.

EDIT: I'm not sure who would want to do what exactly, so maybe Luke would want to go to Wellington and Kenny would want to keep on traveling. Either way, I doubt the choice would be more geared towards where you wanted to be but more of who you want to be with.

  • If that were the case, my curiosity would take over and I'd have to find out if Wellington is what it's rumored to be.

  • What if the choice we make will determine who we go with in season3 and we will have 2 major paths? 1 for luke and 1 for kenny...i'd be so happy

  • I'm sure I've said this before in another thread, but I'll say it again anyways.

In Season 1, we protected Clem. In Season 2, we developed/shaped Clem. In Season 3, I can see Telltale having us being led or guided by Clem. A new protagonist and a group will be a great start. They are then forced into a predicament were they have to either trust this teenager (whose personality is based on our decisions in Season 2) who just saved them or die in the wilderness. It's a great way to end the Clementine story arc. We will have seen Clementine grow up into a capably survivor. The only sad part is that just like parents watching their children grow up into adults, we have to in the end set them free and let them be their own individual. The feels would be enormous but will give a huge sense of completion and satisfaction. This also gives Telltale the freedom to do another TWD game whenever they like. They are no longer tied to a character and can do a brand new story arc whenever they feel the time is ready.

I believe that things will be a bit like this too. but.. who knows.

I think Arvo still have a lot to show us. He seems to be in that group, but at the same time he doesn't agree with everything they do. he seemed more like a hostage than as a group member.

I like this idea and I hope it's true. It seems feasible for TT to accomplish and then they're both still alive! :D I think that if we decided, for example, to go with Luke though, then Kenny's character would become much more different when we meet up with him in the future than if we were to go with Kenny. The scenes would be the same, but I think the lines Kenny (in this situation) says to Clem would be different than if Clem had gone with Kenny. The same vice versa with Luke.

if you choose to (let's say) go with Kenny over Luke - it'll end up being Kenny who dies

Wow that would be a low blow, but a good twist I guess. I feel like the fandom would riot if that were to happen haha. The ultimate "fuck you, your decisions don't matter" from TT!

  • Maybe the pizza or ice cream choices is choices between survival or humanity.

For example, you can choose to stay with a group and look out for each other, or choose to survive alone or with another character?

  • That sounds pretty decent, but I'm fairly sure there would be a lot of people who'd have built up certain reasonings for Clem's behaviour, which would be lost in that scenario

For instance I'd be incredible disappointed if that happened and then mentor-Clem were to say: "That's Kenny. He's a bit of a hot head, but deep down he's okay." - Because my Clem would never think that.

So it's one helluva balancing act.

As for that last bit - it's not that your choices don't matter, it's simply that you aren't some deity who can predict all the consequences of your own actions :)

  • I just read this thread again, and I came to thinking. We might all be barking up the wrong tree.

The fabled choice could be what Jane's been warning us about.
Stick with the group and die (as good a death as can be found) - or sacrifice your own integrity in order to survive and abandon the group.

We'd of course not play Clem in S3 (though if she survives she might make an appearance).

It'd make for some pretty high stakes decisions - and we can't say we weren't warned that groups implode.

  • Guys... We've already made the pizze or ice cream choice, it would just only matter later.

    MWAAHAGTAGFASGAGHA..

Just a thought, but what if the choice isn't between Luke and Kenny?

What if you get to Wellington and the choice becomes between Christa and Kenny?

I'm certain the tattooed guy shot at Luke at the end of E4.

  • Another character, Molly find Clementine!!! Oh also find Jane have the badass trio :D

  • nonsense, they can be like Carley and Doug, yes, both of them died eventually, but whoever you saved survives for two more episodes, in which he/she is a very main character with a lot of impact upon the plot, that choice was overall very satisfying, it changed episodes 2 and 3, by a lot

  • edited July 2014

Or they can make it a Doug/Carly situation.

  • edited July 2014

Ah, yeah. That would be deep. I think for it to truly be unpredictable though, the result would have to be random despite what you pick. For example, if I chose to save Kenny,

    • for 50% of the games I play I select "save Kenny," the result would be me saving him,

    • and for 50% of the games I play I select "save Kenny," Luke is saved instead.

    Versus what you described:

    • 100% of the time I click "save Kenny," Luke is saved. Otherwise in future gameplays, you would be able to predict their fate. Does that make sense?

But I guess 50/50 wouldn't work with your story-line idea, which I love:

Clem starts to have serious doubts about herself and her role in the world and in any group.

Though what if the characterization of Clem having confidence in herself / not having doubts in herself then became determinant? Oooh...

  • Wat if we get the choice who to go with, and then S3 starts with a new character and you will eventually meet Clem and Luke/Kenny. And relationship in the beginning with Clem depends on how you player her in s2. (probably not gonna happen, but y'know)
