He screwed Jane precisely because he just lost his friend. With all the pressure, and the feeling that everyone around him was going to die horribly and his turn was next, and with Jane being the first woman to offer him sex, he made a bad choice. But he admits to it and should not be condemned for it. He'll have to work hard to make up for it.
Of course he freaks out when Jane leaves. The first chance he thought he had of finding a woman he could trust turned out to have never been real, and he explodes. He's been bottling up his feelings because the group's needed him, and now that they're dead he's only going to rage further at Kenny.
Too bad for Clementine. She's been let down by every adult she's known.
You wouldn't say the same if your family and people you care about were in that situation. Many says, yeah he has needs and all, but like my dad, RIP, taught me, duty is first. His duty was to to keep safe the area, while everybody was risking their lives he was having some fun, Jane's fault or Luke's fault it doesn't really matter who started it, one is responsible of his own actions.
Neither of us will ever have to be in that situation, thankfully. 'Duty' might be an ideal a lot of men look up to, but not everyone is cut out for it because men are not robots. Nick never managed it. Pete realized that in his last moments that he didn't want to die. Kenny failed his self-appointed family multiple times.
Stress makes people do stupid things that hurt others. If you believe Bonnie, 'stress' is what made Carver a monster.

To be fair, we don't know how it went down.... Jane could've seduced Luke and she didn't seem to care much about the situation that had resulted because of their fun time. You can't blame Luke without blaming Jane.
Hopefully we will never be in that situation, yeah but he had a job to do, honestly i understand he wanted to do it, but at least he could have finished his job first, stress kills especially in those situations, less time to think, or you realize of things when is too late like Pete, as for Carver, i think he had some kind of hunger for power.

Of course Luke needed it, but you know what? The rest of the group needed someone on watch. That was Luke. Luke put himself on watch, and when he was supposed to be patrolling the perimeter and keeping an eye out for threats, he decided to screw Jane. That's stupid and irresponsible, and it could have gotten the whole group killed. It's not the sex that people are mad about, it's the fact that he had sex when he promised the group he would be making sure they were safe.
I have no issue with Luke getting some with Jane (look at her, the girl is gorgeous), but like others, I really wish they could've kept it in their pants until Rebecca and the others were settled at the new shelter. Not to mention, he volunteered to patrol the perimeter, arguably the most important job. But I can understand why Luke did what he did, he obviously wasn't thinking clearly. Luke was hurting, and his way of dealing with pain/grief is to bury it down deep. Despite what others are saying, I think Nick's death had a bigger impact on him than he is letting on. Jane was the stronger one it seems at that point, and helped him out of it (sexually lol). That probably explains why he was so pissed when she left. For the small amount of screen time Jane and Luke had together, I think they had a really interesting dynamic. Too bad it isn't going to be explored further. Anyways, I went off topic, mad props to Luke for getting to hit that, but he should've finished his job and waited for everyone to get to the shelter. Then they could go at it like bunnies in the woods for all I care haha.

Well, I'm straight so they aren't my thing either lol. But girls who have short hair and can pull it off have beautiful facial structure, and in Jane's case it must be acknowledged. (to me at least.) I think Jane's the prettiest girl in the game so far, she could've easily been a model before the apocalypse.
And if Jane had already done her job, why wasn't she helping Luke stand watch? Oh, but let's still just hate on Luke when he and Jane were both doing the same thing -- not standing watch and not preparing a site for Rebecca.
Like Molly. Or Jack from Mass Effect. Seems to be a cliche with bald female characters - they must have extremely feminine facial features to compensate for the short hair.
Something to note: Luke seemed oddly jealous about Mike, making a comment about him being eager for approval before it was 'earned'. Makes it seem like he felt emasculated by Bonnie spending time with Mike.

...Okay? I don't see what other female characters having short hair has to do with what I said. I think being a girl and having short hair is a difficult look to pull off, both in reality and in games, so when I see a character who does pull it off I like to compliment them. Not all girls look good with short hair, and I think Jane does. It's an aesthetic opinion, you don't have to agree with me. I don't see why I have to note your observation of Luke being jealous of Mike because of Bonnie..? What does that have to do with Jane? Honestly, your comment comes off a little condescending.

I wasn't trying to make offense. Just wanted to compare her character design to several similar ones I know of.
And I was trying to make sense of why, during one of the hub sequences, Luke makes a jealous comment about Mike "wanting approval without earning it". It makes more sense in the light of him not liking the fact that Mike is off alone with Bonnie (with players already "shipping" them), and would explain why he goes off with Jane despite having known Bonnie a little longer. This observation has nothing to do with hair length. :P

Oh ok, I didn't take offense, I was just confused overall by your comment so I got a bit defensive. My bad. I went back and checked that hub sequence, I hadn't really noticed the context before. I guess, I can see how the comment Luke makes can be seen as jealous, I personally think he was just wary of letting new members take on so much responsibility and didn't like how comfortable Mike seemed to be with the group already.

Sure did, it got Sarah killed because of their foolish behavior. If you have a job to do, you do it, not have sex the first chance you get. How long did it take him, he should of been done in a few minutes. Seemed like he was going at it for a while.
Jane did her job, she saved Clem's life twice, she prepared the building by opening it, she really deserved a rest, as i said before, Jane's fault or Luke's fault it doesn't matter, Luke agreed to do it and now he must face the consequences.

Why is there so much downvotes for this thread?
I don't blame luke, but just he should have thought a little more. The timing was bad, but i guess he never meant to do any harm.
I don't think people dislike him JUST for having sex with Jane.
I started to dislike him because of various actions he did in the fourth episode.
I really disliked the way Kenny and Luke abandoned Clementine in the herd.
I disliked the way he tried to put all of the blame onto clementine if you leave Sarah. Like he wasn't there for hours, failed and then was the first to escape. Yes, Clem left her too, but it felt like he was pushing all the blame on her to make him feel better about the decision.
I didn't like the way he was bitching about Mike, saying how he was trying to be accepted and gain approval. Yeah well.... he doesn't know Jane that well but he sure as hell accepted and trusted her.
Then he had sex with Jane at an inappropriate moment, when the group trusted him to keep watch and keep them safe. So really, he isn't one to go on about trust, when he broke theirs.
He pretty much doesn't give a shit about Sarah (if you save her) and lets Jane jump down by herself to try and save her. He knew that she alone wouldn't have been able to save her.
Then when he asks if you are okay, and no matter how you answer, he doesn't seen to give a rats arse.
Then kicks off like a child when Jane leaves, probably only because he planned to go 'find more supplied' yeah right. That was not his intentions, so he would have fucked the group over again for sex. No wonder Jane left, he to turn into little puppy dog because she gave him relief.
He kicked off at Kenny and saying he 'needed a break' or whatever, sorry but zombies surround you, you are fighting for survival, a woman has given birth and she is now weak and looks like death, you don't really get breaks anymore.
He has a dig at clementine for not siding with him.
And he shouts at Kenny for just trying to protect this tiny new baby.
Honestly, he's childish, selfish, spitefully and is starting to annoy me.
And before you all go on, I'm not saying Kenny has been the perfect human being. He has done things that have annoyed me too. But this about Luke. And why I think people dislike him more after this episode.
There is probably various other reasons why people dislike him more now, but at this moment, that is all I can think of and I'm tired.

Are you fucking serious? The only time they could help Rebecca was when she was in labor. Before that everything Kenny and cia did was keeping repeatedly saying: BREATHE REBECCA! BREAAAAATHEEEEE!
Also, she could have kept her fucking cunt mouth shut for some moments not to attract walkers, I mean, it's not hard to not shouting when you're in pain.
not in that situation, he didn't.
He was the guy with the AK with the job to survey while everyone else was busy helping Rebecca. They only got ambushed by the herd because he screwed up.

And yes, they were all helping her get prepared for labor, Jane was getting the observatory open, Mike and Bonnie were looking for water and blankets, Clem was helping both Jane and Team bike, Kenny was keeping an eye on her, and Luke was SUPPOSED to patrolling the perimeter so they wouldn't get ambushed by walkers. Which is exactly what happened because he let go of his duty.
Giving birth is one of the worst pains in the world, and Rebecca had no access to anesthesia at all. You don't know what you're talking about.

Luke didn't even see Clementine as he was really preoccupied with Sarah
Can't really answer to that as I saved Sarah and I don't know what happens otherwise.
Yep, that wasn't cool, Mike is awesome.
Agreed, though Jane is equally to blame whereas people seem to blame only Luke for the most part.
I don't think he could have done anything. Walkers were very close and I don't think he would manage to get down and try to save her before she was eaten.
Yep, though probably no one is okay at that moment.
You're right, though I wouldn't blame them for doing this during supply run as opposed to doing this during Rebecca's labor. Oh, well...
Yes, but earlier in the episode where people (especially Rebecca) needed Kenny he was also sitting in his tent not giving a shit about anybody because he just needed a break. Though timing was terrible and what he's done was in no way good thing, people sometimes need to forget about everything that's going on, otherwise most of them will snap.
Kenny has one, too.
Yeah, Luke definitely overreacted, though truth is I also wasn't very comfortable with Kenny treating the baby too much like his own (I don't know, but I feared that his painful memories of Duck combined with this new baby may give him some crazy ideas).
To sum up, you've got a few good points but I think you exaggerate a bit about everything bad he's done. He definitely had a few fuck-ups but so had everyone we had in our group (OK, maybe except Mike).
I don't think people dislike him JUST for having sex with Jane.

You know what really gets me in the mood? My friend getting eaten alive a few hours before a stranger propositions me in a life-or-death situation.
Seriously though, it was some pretty horrendous decision-making on Luke's part. No real defense for it.

The entire group got separated in the herd. And if they saw her they would have helped her, well, Kenny would have if Sarita hadn't died.
I could totally go somewhere dirty with that title but i won't. But i will say they could have picked a better time instead of endangering everyone.
