Is Clem's Screwdriver Really As Effective As It Seems?

From this video it seems that overall, you can use the screwdriver to kill a zombie but I doubt Clem has the force to do so, especially in just one jab of force

    Wasn't it an ice pick?

    EDIT: Dislikes, ugh, opinions.

It isnt really accurate for half the stuff clem is doing.

    E.G

    • Draggging a full grown man inside a store

    • Chopping of Sarita's arm in two hits

    • Kicking down a door several walkers couldnt budge

It is a game at the end of the day

  • Maybe, its hard to tell, in that case it would probably work fine, but i don't know if she has enough force to drive it through a skull in one hit

  • True but I thought it was worth sharing anyways

  • She did break a door down and drag a fully grown man in the same episode, I think she could do that.

I'm pretty sure it's an icepick or a scratch awl. In that case, it wouldn't be that far-fetched for her to kill with it. If she aimed for weak points (under the chin, behind the ear, eyes, etc) it probably wouldn't be that difficult. The kills where she stabs thought the skull? I'm gonna chalk that up to the 'rule of cool' trumping realism.

  • Be careful, saying your opinion is not legal in these areas >_>

I'm pretty sure it was an ice pick, too. Screwdriver makes no sense, but ice picks are much sharper, lighter and quicker than a hatchet, making it easier to drive into skulls. I assumed that's what Jane meant by it being more "effective".

The only problem I had with the ice pick was I wasn't convinced a quick jab through the skull like that could destroy the brain enough to stop a zombie from reanimating - I mean, Clem literally sliced Nick's brain into pieces and it still took three chops to the head to completely stop him from moving.

Yeah, it's not too logical, but I guess enough damage to the most vital parts of the brain are enough to stop the brain from functioning.

Plus zombie's start to rot and their skulls are easier to penetrate.

Maybe, but the way I see it, the way people state their opinions is just as important as the opinions themselves. I can often dodge the dislikes by acting polite and non-confrontational.

Still, I'm surprised people downvoted you for pointing out that she was probably using an icepick, rather than a screwdriver. :/

  • It takes a long ass time for skull to decompose and even if this was the case, the brain would be decomposing far before the skull started to so the zombie wouldn't be alive anyways

  • I think the points she hits with the Ice Pick are vital for the kill, under the chin into the stem of the brain, and in the back of the head just above the nape of the neck.

  • You're probably right that an ice pick would serve better, but doesn't it make more sense that it would be a screwdriver? Just from a "what's going to be lying around lots of places" kind of thought. I don't know, maybe ice picks are really common in the US?

  • On the wiki it says it's a scratch awl. I agree though with Max the under the chin and back of the neck attacks seem viable, but the skull is definitely the Rule of Cool.

  • You can sharpen screwdrivers d: but that doesn't mean it wasn't an icepick.

  • edited August 2014

Personally I'd stick with a weapon that has more range, like a baseball bat or similar. Screwdrivers, ice picks, etc potentially get a one hit kill, but you need to get really close to the walker to do so.

  • any one remember on the bridge that rebar clementine can use like a bo staff that is the best thing to use to kill walkers

  • edited August 2014

Well, you can't cut off arms with it, i'm sure Sarita would agree.
Well the whole body probably is weaker and rotted, so it isn't impossible.
