Well we don't know what happened in those 16 months. He could've made really good friends with someone only to have them die. You can't say with certainty that he hasn't lost anyone for 16 months without knowing what went on in those 16 months

It's been a few years since their passing, and I still get a little worked up over it when I think about it. Now that he's lost someone again, the thought of his previous loved ones returns and severely crushes him. He thinks he's a failure! I don't know if you noticed, but Kenny isn't exactly the most stable when it comes to his emotions. One thing that you have to understand is that sometimes, it doesn't matter if the time gap was immensely huge for some people. There are a few people that still suffer from great depression over a long lost loved one even today.
