The one sad thing that I realised about saving someone.

They always die later in the game. Think about it.
In season 1
you had either the choice to save Doug or Carley. No matter who you chose, they die later on in Ep 3.
Ben could've died in Season 1 Ep 4, unless you saved him till his death of Ep 5

In season 2.
Peter fucking Joseph Randall had to die too. Not that he was bitten but, you know. He was one of my favourites.
Nick is also a part of this Selective death choice as well. He died in either Ep 2 or 4.
Sadly we got Sarah on this and she dies in Ep 4 as a selective choice.
Don't forget Alvin. you could've either leave a bullet in Carver's shoulder and one in Alvin's head or let Alvin walk a few days more.

You might ask what I'm trying to say, well... You might have a selective choice for either saving Kenny or Luke in episode 5.

  • Pete... come back...

    ;-;

  • I'm kind of hoping Telltale changes things up next season, if they keep on like this, things are going to start getting predictable. =(

  • this is old news buddy

  • Well not all... at least not the more insignificant characters at least. The thing is, with Season 1 determinants, their deaths were portrayed perfectly, in my opinion, however in Season 2, characters' deaths weren't always living up to Season 1, the determinants in Season 1 played more meaning then the ones in Season 2.

Carley was an NPC that helped you out with allot of shooting and she gives you the opportunity to increase your friendship/relationship with each character.

Doug was an NPC that was really nice and friendly, he was more of a relatable guy, in my opinion, and he was really smart and was the only determinant that could die a hero.

Ben was an NPC that played the role of the person who always messes things up, he even tries to convince you to kill him, but he made it up to Lee and the others by helping you search for Clementine, if you saved him.

All the determinant characters in Season 1 added a thread to the string, even though that thread would end before the string, it changed the string's pattern... if that makes sense? XD sorry, I basically said that Season 1 deaths were better and determinant characters had really affected the tailoring of the story.

  • Carley and Doug really dont count as they wern't determinant. You HAD to have one of the other, thats why they worked which makes me think they should do this in the future not just as a choose between them thing but i other ways (E.g they could have has that if you save Sarah in the trailer Jane dies as there is not enough time, so you have one or the other).

Ben had the same amount of development as Pete or Alvin or in my opinion Sarah

Well I count them as determinant, since you do choose their fate, although it's the only who will you choose decision that kills the other character which you didn't choose.

Edit: I think Ben had enough - he tells us about his past, what happened to his family, where he came from... pretty much what many Survivors told us, Pete, Alvin and Sarah didn't really talk about their life pre-apocalypse.

  • At Carley and Doug got some character development, as well as Ben if you save him in S1E4. Pete and Alvin are not too important if you save them, but at least it gives you some scenes. What the fuck does Nick if you save him? And Sarah?

  • Pete was a good character, he did well to help develop Nick's character.

Alvin was good, but... I just don't feel like he got enough development, however, he does help develop Rebecca's character allot.

  • My first thought after saving Sarah was :Oh shit she's gonna die later ...

  • Her deaths had a big affect on me for some reason, and even my friend who literally never cries, shed a tear when he left Clementine behind at the trailer park.

  • I don't know how determining someone's death suddenly changed about a discussion about char development. All I am saying is that you might lose both Kenny and Luke (if they get into a "WHO YOU GON SAVE" moment)

  • I thought if you took too long on deciding then both die. So you don't have to have one really...

  • Yeah it is getting boring about knowing they will just die later. Like I said in another thread, there is more than one way to write off a character besides killing them if they need to tie up the loose ends on determinants. Get more creative Telltale, we're sick of the formula.

  • If you take too long to decide then you get a "game over".

  • the story plays out the same way but at least if we save the character they should be able to survive in the same episode

  • I guess Sarah learned that she didn't want to die, but Nick literally got nothing, even though he deserved more characterization, but I think his characterization in episode 2 was very well done, they could have done more with him.

  • I was so heartbroken when he decided not to cut his leg,
    I really liked him :(

  • HEY HEY HEY HEY! You guys always seem to forget easily the most important and strong character in the series who is determinant...Chet. HOT DISH BABY!

  • The thing is, Is that if a choice of Kenny/Luke is presented, You know either way they will both end up dead.

  • It's the walking dead everyone is gonna die sometime u just gotta make the best of it.

  • Back in season 1 when determinant characters died I didn't feel like this, I think its because we don't feel as attached to season 2's characters as much as we did with season 1s.
