Why I Think Someone Will Lose a Limb in No Going Back

I'm honestly surprised that I'm the first person to make this guess considering the large amount of references to it in the game. There has been a reference to amputating bite wounds in every single episode of season 2.

In episode 1, Pete mentions that a cousin of his survived getting a limb removed while the cabin group is talking about what to do with Clem. This is secondhand proof that you can survive a bite wound.

In episode 2, if you save Pete, he decides not to cut off his leg because he thinks that he'll just bleed out.

In episode 3, we meet Reggie and Mike, an amputater and amputee. They provide solid proof that if a limb is cut off after being bitten by a lurker, you can survive with proper medical supplies.

In episode 4, we get the aftermath of the Sarita choice. This is meant as a bluff to try to convince players that cutting off a limb won't work..

Why all this buildup with removing limbs if nothing is going to come of it.

And finally, the most damning piece of evidence there is: ever since Episode one, Luke has almost ALWAYS been shown with a machete on his back. Why did telltale bother to give him separate animations for using his machete? Why not just have him randomly pull weapons out of his ass like all the other characters do?

Why consistently give Luke a weapon that could cut things?

I predict that somebody will be loosing a limb (probably a leg) in the next episode. If I had to take a guess, it would be Bonnie.

  • I heard somebody state that it's possible that Reggie was lying and Carver actually cut off his arm through torture.

  • The baby will lose a limb and be the new reggie. :3

  • Possible, but I don't think so. Reggie didn't strike me as the type who was an easy liar.

  • And he said Mike was the one to cut the arm off, Mike would have said something sonner or later if he didn't cut the arm off and someone else did....

While it's possible someone could lose a limb in episode 5, it just mimics Lee (possibly) losing his arm in season 1. It's repetitive. I don't see them pulling that twice in two season finales, especially with all the other amputees in the season thus far.

While Luke does have a machete, it's also just his iconic weapon. Lot of characters have them such as Tyreese and Clem with hammers. Machetes are effective tools not only for killing but hacking through foliage, etc. In the zombie apocalypse, it makes sense to use quieter weapons. A knife is too short for most situations. How many know how to use a sword and not hurt themselves or someone else? Hammers and axes are easy to get stuck. Who has a halberd and know how to use it? Guns are too loud. Machetes are often readily available from gun stores to sporting good stores. They're lightweight and quite effective. Can't have every character with the same weapons, either. How boring does that get?

  • I don't think that anyone will.

Then again, you shouldn't be surprised what I think of this, Mike.

  • Yeah. I really don't want to stare at a dead Luke avatar for the next two weeks.

  • I personally think that all the mentions of removing limbs were used to foreshadow cutting off Sarita's arm, and subconciously encourage us to make the "wrong" choice and cut it off.

  • The theme of losing limbs could be setting something up. We're being shown circumstances where it could and could not work. For example we look back at Lee in Season 1 where he left it too late, Reggie showed cutting the limb off quickly can save you. However if you cut the limb off quickly while surrounded by walkers like Sarita was, you're in trouble. Again with Pete it shows without the means to cauterise and treat the stump of a chopped limb, you'll bleed out [just like the story Kenny mentions to Reggie of a guy who bled out and turned anyway.]

I do agree blades are better than a gun when it comes to walkers, but the fact Luke has kept that machete throughout that whole season without it even getting left behind anywhere [not even at Carver's] it does kind of have you thinking if it'll be used on a walker bite, mostly because it'd be the most affective to choppy the bitten limb off.

I said to you the other day I thought it might be Clem that is the victim of such a theory, but now I'm not so sure. Notice how Kenny lost an eye because he stood up to protect Clementine from Carver so she wouldn't get hurt...well uh, what happens if it's Luke's turn to step up and lose something too to protect Clem? An eye for an eye deal if you can call it that.

Oh god, I really do hope this theory isn't true, because I'm going to hate it if anybody has to lose a limb in the last episode. I don't wanna watch T____T

This is what I think. They pushed it really hard in episode 3, the one where the end choice is cutting off Sarita's arm, especially.

  • Hey, Clementine cut through Sarita's arm in two swings with a rinky dink little axe. So it should be quick, right?

Then again, it took Lee 4 swings with a fire axe to cut off a leg.....

I'm guessing it will probably be Bonnie loosing a leg. I just hope it works.

  • Maybe they just did that to Sarita to make us think that trying to cut a bite off won't work.

So many signs indicated it can work, with Sarita, it almost instantly killed her, but that's only because of all the Walkers roaming around, it wasn't a safe place to do such things, I think that TTG might be trying to trick us again.

  • Bonnie or Mike. One of them will get bit.

I was gonna say Kenny, but he already lost his eye.

  • Mike will lose the rest of his ear.

    Or his other ear.

  • Seems plausible.

It seems like it could be a parallel choice to S01E05, like it could be a determinant choice (cut off limb or not), although that might be a little too repetitive

  • If anyone loses a limb, it will be Kenny. By the end of the series he won't have anything left and Clem will probably smother him with a pillow to prove her love to Luke.

  • Like it mattered.

  • You know, I heard if you have rats on your house they will bite the tip of your fingers/toes or ears, then they blow wind while bitting so you don't feel anything.

Mike will lose the rest of his ear. Or his other ear.

  • Depends on the limb I guess. I figure a leg would be thicker to cut through than an arm.

  • It will be kinda lame though. They did the same thing in Season 2, why do they need to do it again?

i think kenny will loose a hand get a hook, then eventually loose a leg and get a peg leg and he will become a pirate like this http://fav.me/d7oiu88

  • THIS. I agree with you so much. I originally wanted to stay with Kenny and his group on the lodge. They have stable and small group of kind people, good base, lots of food and electricity. Man, everything would turn out so good if Clementine would stay with them...

  • I've often speculated that clementine could lose one or two fingers this season. Example: you reaches down to grab something off the ground and a walker who was buried in snow bites your ring finger, forcing Luke or Kenny to cut it off.

  • First injury Clementine ever got when the apocalypse started was that cut on her finger when pushing that desk with Lee at the drugstore.

And now as the last injury, she will have to cut off that same finger!
