Episode 5 - Achievement Speculation

edited August 2014 in The Walking Dead

To pass the time, how about we try to build a plot outline out of the final episode's leaked achievements?

1: Blood and Iron - "Made it out alive" - The episode will start off with the gunfight, in which almost everyone will die. Luke will be injured due to being in Buricko's line of fire, Bonnie & Mike are expendable along with Buricko and Vitali, while Arvo and the Russian woman will be left alive but mortally wounded. Kenny coldly executes Maud in retribution and, depending on Clementine's decision, can either shoot Arvo or let him freeze to death. Whatever you choose, the survivors quickly move out while the other Russians start to pursue them.

2: Miles to Go - "Took a breather" - Clem, the baby, an injured Luke and a broken Kenny finally stop in the middle of the woods to process what has happened. Their arguing comes to blows, and Clementine has to decide how to stop the two from killing each other. She can either walk away with the baby, point a gun at Kenny/Luke, or yell at them. In any case, the two adults make a truce after the ruckus brings about the undead, realizing they have a long way before reaching the town across the river, let alone Wellington (which is a couple of states away at the very least).

3: Right of Frost - "Stopped for the night" - the achievement image shows a fire, which brings to mind Christa telling Clementine to learn how to build a fire and cook for herself. Luke collapses from exhaustion, prompting Clem to decide whether or not it is worth the risk to build a fire. If she doesn't do it herself, Kenny will do it out of pragmatism. Here, Clem can have a proper conversation with the two where they can either apologize to her or coldly ignore her, depending on her actions so far. Before too long, the fire draws the attention of the Russians and the group is forced to abandon the camp.

4: Center Cannot Hold - "Reached the other side" - with no other option left, the survivors are forced to cross the barely frozen river in order to reach the other side. Dodging corpses trapped in the icy water and pursued by the Russians, the two grown men fall through the ice and call for Clementine to help. Regardless of who you choose to save, they both live - but the one you didn't try to save will remember that.

5: All The Dark Night - "Made it through to morning" - Arriving at the town and holing up in the church, the group discovers a bunch of survivors who'd all been scouring the landscape in order to gather enough supplies and fuel for a road trip to Wellington. Christa, crippled but alive, is among the group and has an awkward reunion with Clem, Kenny, the baby and Luke. With the help of the survivors, Clementine manages to fight off a zombie horde until daybreak and can decide whether to allow a few straggling Russians (one of whom is a sick woman who resembles Arvo) to enter the church. If so, they grudgingly offer their gratitude. If you didn't take the medicine from Arvo's group, they'll even offer painkillers for Kenny or Luke. Unfortunately, only one of the men survive the fight, and it's up to Clementine who to save.

6: We Slowly Drove - "Reached the terminus" - a time-skip of a couple of weeks is implied here, with Clementine, a very ill Luke/Kenny, and Christa with the baby sitting together in a truck slowly driving across a stark white landscape. Christa has a conversation with Clementine, in which they reconcile their broken relationship and the player is given a chance to reflect on the kind of person Clem has become. This reconciliation is cut short when they discover the road to Wellington is completely blocked with no chance of driving through. With the city in sight, the group reluctantly steps back into the cold.

7: Kindly Stop For Me - "Found your way through" - In the middle of a blizzard, the group takes shelter in a rest stop. However, they are ambushed by bandits who have no qualms with shooting upon a little girl, a crippled woman, a sickly man and a crying baby. Clementine has learned from the last stand-off she's been in, and now takes on a group of bandits in a gun-fight on her own. Unfortunately, during the battle the male survivor is shot and killed. Your final words to the dead man can either be grieving or cold With the group down to three people - Clem, Christa and the baby - a horde of corpses coming from the south forces them to push through.

8: All The Dead Lie Down - "Completed 'No Going Back'" - Cold, practically blind, and delirious, Clementine stumbles through a fierce snow-storm while doing all she can to hold onto Christa. Unfortunately, the strain is too much even for her and she collapses, begging Clementine to take the baby and leave her behind for the walkers to feed on. You can either walk away from her, or choose to stay with her until the storm ends. Either way, Clementine will faint on top of the baby. The final shot shows that the storm has dissipated, revealing the bodies of many walkers frozen in their tracks and buried by the snow, with a couple of mysterious figures walking towards Clem's body. Just as they reach her, Clementine stirs and the baby cries.

Comments

  • I made a thread about achievement #7. Kindly stop for me has to do with the forshadowing of the christmas song that Sarita sings.

  • Blood and Iron huh? Well a nickname for people called Mike is Iron Clad Mike so maybe its hinting that he'll die :(

  • This actually sounds pretty realistic!

  • Hey, thanks. I've actually become quite fond of that proposed final image as either the last shot before credits or as a bonus following the credits, because it leaves open the possibility of Clem either being dead or alive. And I'd only be happy with Christa's death if she was developed enough to, say, be the last character to die in Season 2.
