Strange, I actually prefer Joel to Ellie. Maybe aggressive isn't the word for it, but angry is. She can be very angry at other people for the littlest of things, which to me is a less desirable trait to have. Of course, she is a realistic fourteen-year old, from what I've seen.
As for swearing, to me it's a small bit off-putting in media when one of the main characters is swearing nearly every other sentence. Also, I personally would prefer to grow up in the apocalypse, rather then live a life of luxury and then be suddenly thrown into a pile of shit. And where did the comments about Season 2 even come from? I never said anything about The Walking Dead being better than the Last of Us, all I said was I liked Clementine more than Ellie.
Please remember that around this time the whole LGBT thing was very popular. I'm not a homophobic, but Ellie being a lesbian was definitely shoehorned in just so Naughty Dog could have a better reputation with the masses. The story would not have been any worse nor better if they had gotten rid of the whole lesbian thing. Have you ever had a best friend? I assume you have. You would do nearly anything for that person, correct? They are basically your brother/sister. Riley and Ellie were perfectly fine as best friends. They worked well, they had good chemistry. But then at the very end, some completely throwaway kiss comes in and it's just...there. It didn't add anything to Ellie's character at all.
And the only thing I bashed the DLC on was the "eh" DLC Left Behind. I never bashed on it anywhere else, I simply stated that I preferred Clementine to Ellie.

Let's not forget, Ellie was born into the apocalypse, while Clem had the luxury of living 8 years in a normal world. Don't get me wrong, I love Clem, but ND story is thought out. S1 was like this, too, every action made at least some sense, but I think we can all agree S2 has more than a few plot holes and characters doing complete 180's for no reason.

I think it's different because Ellie was born into the apocalypse, while Clem wasn't. It's a bit sadder because Ellie doesn't know what she … morelost from the past world, or what she had to lose. I mean, both character are loveable and reasonable, for me at least. But both know how to survive in a world where you need to fight. They also seen Some brutal things. Like for example, Clem lost Lee and her parents while Ellie lost her parents and her girlfriend, Riley. So we got that down, now let see where their strength and weakness lies. With Clem, she is able to manipulate people to help her. She is small, so she can sneak around more a lot easier and with ease. She also seems to know how to use melee weapons effectively. Plus, she can be show to be ruthless at times, if that the way you play her that is. She can also be seen using her surroundings to her benefit, But her weaknesses are that she can easily be man handled demonstrated by Troy. She also is unable to use weapons that have a bit of a kick to them,, relying a smaller guns like pistols. Now to Ellie's strong points, one of them being, she is able to use rifles and other types of guns that may have a kick to them. Obviously stronger than Clem, she can easily man handled her if given the opportunity. She also have been shown to have been able to kill bandits with little trouble. Also, she is immune to the fungus disease which caused the apocalypse, in Ellie's story, so let just assume that she is immune to walker bites. She is able to craft as well, so when she is injured or need a weapon, she can easily craft that. But here is her problem, she can be too trustworthy when it comes to kids around or younger than her age. She too can be man handled, so if a walker shows up, she can be killed easily. It also doesn't help that she needs supplies to craft stuff and in apocalypse, that's rare. So here who will win.... is probably equally, it just depends on where they do it. If Clem fought Ellie where they were no supplies and walkers near by, then she tries kill her by tricking her though Ellie may notice it and they both her into fight. Of course Clem will try to attack her with the hatchet, it does not work and Ellie grabs it away from her. Ellie then tries to shoot her but with no success. This alerts the walkers who comes towards them. Ellie then quickly tries to craft what she has left and makes a smoke bomb. She then proceeds to throw it, causing Clem to be stunned. But when Ellie gets to the cloud of smoke, Clem have already gotten away. Clem would have capped her legs and sneak away from the chaos, leaving Ellie in the hands of walkers. Now it is a different story if the fight is near no walkers and have supplies. Ellie then would be able to craft a grenade or a Molotov and throw it to Clem. She will then be hit by either one and stunned long enough to die. So yeah, but if I pick which one I'll put my money on, it'll be Clem, seeing how supplies are rare and there are walkers around every corner.
Yep, how I felt every time I've made Clem upset. I just, just can't stop feeling bad if Clem feels bad. But yeah, I think Ellie and Clem are equally good characters. Just season 2 been a little rough with character development lately, but hopefully episode 5 can fix that.
