He dislikes the game so obviously he didn't play it! Great logic you got there based on what exactly? The fact that my opinion is different from yours?

  • How does that prove anything? You thought something else = you speak lies and never played the game? What kind of logic is that?

    aldimon posted: »

Nah the fact that you say the story is absolutely generic. If you really think that it's hard to think you did play it.

  • It's the kind of logic that I don't believe a human is capable of playing through the entire story of Last of Us and say it's a generic story afterwards.

The heck? Walking Dead is far more of an interactive movie?

BACK UP! Ellie is a lesbian?!

Not including Season Two (because to be honest, it's not fair to The Last Of Us) and including Left Behind, Clementine is still the better character .

No disrespect to writers who worked on Ellie though, because I still thought she was a great character. Awesome actually. I liked the concept behind her. A 14 year-old girl who's born after civilization fell; it was something I've never seen before. That winter section? My absolute favourite part of the whole game.

But in terms of goals, character arcs, relationships with the father figure and overall personality, I felt like the writers for The Walking Dead did a much better job with Clementine. Why? One simple reason. They take risks with her.

Throughout the story and around the end of Episode Three, Clementine starts showing vague yet noticeable signs of distrust towards Lee. This really shows in Episode Four and it ultimately leads to Lee's downfall. Her character was written in a way where yes, you FEEL angry and upset that at that moment she'd choose a stranger over someone who put his life on the line for her, but at the same time you still understand why she did it in the first place: She's still a kid and like most kids her age, she's naive and she thinks she can handle herself. She wanted to find her parents when Lee told her there was no time to do so, and it tore her apart. So she ultimately decides to leave him. At the end, she realizes she made a horrible mistake and blames herself for Lee's departure. This is what made her character so memorable and timeless.

Ellie on the other hand, as cool as she is, I can't say the same thing. The moment when she ran away, it didn't really leave any impacts or consequences. Everything that happened in that house (which was a fucking beautiful house by the way) could've happened at Tommy's base. And this scene just left some questions for me:

    • How was Ellie able to steal a horse so quickly with Tommy not finding out?
    • How was Ellie able to get by unharmed and unnoticed by that group of hunters that Joel and Tommy come across before finding her?
    • If Ellie's so scared of being alone, why did she take off in the first place...?
    • ...AND did she expect Joel to find her at all?
    • Did she even have any idea where she was going or was she just winging it?

Also, she can be pretty annoying at times when she feels the need to swear. It was charming at first, but then it just felt like it was really phoned in for the sake of shock value. You can argue that her inner conflict is whether or not Joel simply sees her as a package that he has to deliver, but it doesn't really leave as big of an impact on the story as Clementine's when she decided to act on it. The ending made me feel really sorry for her, but made me somewhat dislike Joel for lying to her.

So yes. I believe that Clementine is the superior kid character, even without Season Two. I still think Ellie is good, just not AS good.

  • I decided to ask cleverbot who was better, it said "Obama, because McCain is a conservative white male." so you heard it here folks, Obama beats Ellie and Clementine!

  • O.O

Yep, as Ellie kissed Riley in the Left Behind DLC.

  • No Joel takes out entire groups of hostile bandits and survives all the time hes like a one-man-army look at what he did to the bandits in Pittsburgh and the University. If Joel was in the Walking Dead Carver would not have been able to capture Kenny and Luke's groups Joel would have just wiped out Carver's group and taking his Superstore/Headquarters for his own.

  • I LOVE THAT GAME!!!! :DDD

The best game ever is Rayman 2: The great Escape. 'Dat game is magic.

  • Wow... ok then...

Ellie swearing "too much" seems like such a desperate mark against her character. Etiquette would RADICALLY change if the free world went to shit, especially if you never grew up during a time when politeness was a valued trait. Also, I highly doubt that having blood-thristy freak monsters and immoral gun toting psycho's constantly trying kill you wouldn't bode well for you too not curse.

If anything, her constant swearing makes her more relatable and realistic.

Insane amounts of unnecessary swearing, getting in the way, ruining immersion when no one notices her, never shutting the hell up for 1 second, etc. Edit: Almost forgot! That fucking joke book!
