We criticize because we care.

edited August 2014 in The Walking Dead

So lately, I have been seeing quite a few threads that basically (to me) amount to "Shut up, we don't need your criticism, and your opinion doesn't matter because I think Season 2 is awesome." WE criticize, because many people, including myself really do think Telltale have really not been giving it their all this Season compared to Season 1, underdeveloped characters, rushed, and wasted potential of character deaths, illusion of choice non-existent, messy story line and so on, this is all opinion, of course and people don't have to agree, but they shouldn't tell us to shut up because THEY don't want to hear it, Trolls and rude forum users that blindly hate Season 2 for no reason and don't have any valid arguments or criticisms to back them up are the problem, OTHER forum users I'm sure don't think that Season 2 is awful or not enjoyable, it's just missing alot of key ingredients that made Season 1 so special, and even by itself the Season is a bit messy, Season 1 was NOT A PERFECT GAME, but it had alot of things to latch onto and appreciate compared to Season 2 which is almost missing that BUT is STILL ENJOYABLE to play, at least for me an for other people, AND there are things I like about it, I'm NOT telling these defenders to shut up, I just want them to understand where alot of complainers are coming from and not try to label them as idiots or blind haters. There are perhaps too many negative threads, but this is a forum where people are allowed to share their thoughts and personal feelings, and it's not exactly forcing you to read them, my thoughts, my opinion.

  • I agree. And if Telltale care (which I'm sure they do) they will value the criticism. The well thought out criticism anyway.

I'm sure as hell it is more useful to them than the gif spamfest this forum was earlier this year.

The only thing I don't agree with is when people single out a Telltale staffmember, a writer for instance, and badmouth them.
Other than that people should be free to speak their minds.

  • Mods seriously can't you just make all the complaints in one thread, this is getting a little yeah.

Well, Season 2 is awesome, it could have been better? Yes but i'm sure TT will do a better season, criticism is ok, it makes us improve but there's a huge difference between CRITICISM AND COMPLAINING and thats what many people are doing, thats the reason some people get annoyed or pissed, I think S2 was nice, like I said before it could have been better, but it's the walking dead, our favorite characters are supposed to die sooner or later, like it or not, it doesn't matter if the character was poorly developed or had an important impact on the story they will die. I get your point so don't worry and i agree with you, theres a lot of hate thread, instead of those threads we should point the good points/things about the game so TT could feel less stress and do an even better job, even pointing the wrong things is ok, but always being polite and with the proper respect.

  • better to stay in one thread only

  • I think there would be less hate and more constructive criticism if there were more of a sense that Telltale was listening to anything we were saying. That doesn't mean coming down to the forums to chat with us or anything, but listening to the overwhelming feedback of what things people want (character development, hubs, choices that resonate through the season rather than becoming irrelevant almost immediately) would have been nice.

No such luck. I wasn't here during Season 1, but I came here with what now seems the rather naive idea that Telltale shaped their episodes partly according to player feedback, which was part of the reason for the episodic format. Instead, the sense is that our feedback is pretty much meaningless and we can expect Telltale to just keep on doing exactly what they've been doing no matter what people say or do.

    I find that disappointing.
