I understand that they are supporting characters in both the books and the TV series, but, fuck, those roles are filled by different people in the books, why is it simplified so much?
I can't help but think that HBO treats their audience as a bunch of idiots who would get mindblown if they didn't change so many facts from the books.
Yeah, he's still alive. Sam and Gilly arrive before the wildling attack in the show, but I know they arrive later in the books. Pip and Gren… moren are killed though. Grenn replaces the one-armed blacksmith, so he defends the tunnel, and Pip is killed by Ygritte with an arrow.
Yeah, I agree. I have been reading through the books recently, I'm currently half way through ACoK. I really like the POV style and how you get much more detail about locations and characters since it's less of a visual medium, and it helps you remember who the hell a character is rather than forgetting the next episode, like all those people who still call Daenarys Khaleesi. I can understand them wanting the audience to have a more personal reaction to their deaths, which would work, if they ever actually fucking used Pip and Grenn in Season 3 and 4.

There are other ways for an infants to die, either from the cold or lack of food, but from conditions where they can just end up dying in their sleep. And the world pretty much sets up that if you die, you turn into a walker.
But, I totally don't believe this. It'd be really, really mean to kill that baby T.T
