Not sure if they'd have enough brain function for manipulation, as that's a complicated action, but still really interesting idea! I think at that point, if it were me, I'd just keep them alive and see if I could determine if they were manipulating me.

Also, "Talkers" ftw. If they had radios that didn't work, then they'd be the Walking Dead Talkers with dead walkie-talkies. xD

Whoa...that's deep. Y'know, other people were talking about playing from a walker's POV, and that would be a cool take on it. And it's a sort of different thing from the humans' perspective, because walkers supposedly have to attack humans to survive, while humans don't have to attack walkers to survive. But in the show (idk about the comics), they found out that walkers could get by without eating anything and still survive. And Hershel kept the walkers in his barn alive with animal meat. I wonder what would happen if walkers realized they didn't need to eat humans?

  • we have to remember that the comics are 2 years ahead of the game now so unless we see a timeskip again we won't see talking walkers in the game but this is going to have a major effect on both twd comic universe and tv show universe in general

  • Probably like dead rising how they all sort of remember the days they were alive. Like you can see zombies pushing trollies and wheelchairs.

  • I'm sorry but if walkers start talking in season 3, I am shutting off the game and saying goodbye to the series.

  • Zombies don't talk, this is very stupid, unless it's Bub in Day of the Dead :D

  • By the way guys by talk I don't think they mean "have a regular conversation". I think they'll mutter something that they may remember from a past life, but in a growl and very quietly.

So if we see a Lee walker and he limps towards Clementine muttering "Clementine" and growling it...well then...damn. I mean...damn.

I don't really see the problem with this, it'd make sense for walkers to start learning from humans since humans have become more advanced in survival and set-up, walkers need to adapt and change in order to get prey.

  • walking dead could end with the walkers killing off all humans and they might evolve and become the new humans PLANET OF THE APES

  • Something people that believe this need to keep in mind.

The Walking Dead is infamous for bullshit cliff hangers and surprise twists.

For a time, there was a character that claimed to know how the outbreak started. Turns out, he was lying for protection and knew nothing. So don't jump to conclusions about talking zombies just yet. It could just as easily be a new group walking through a herd.

  • Walkers can feed by the way, and live a lot longer than sixteen months. Some last for years.

  • Eh I wouldn't like that. If anything I'd prefer if a new military is developed, new quarantine zones, America getting over-run, stuff like that. Make the world bigger.

  • I'm not totally against talking Walkers, or zombies in general. They've been well before in other works before. I just think it'd be really jarring for TWD to have them since unlike Romero's none of the zombies in the comics have even been hinted at being able to do anything but shuffle around and try to eat people.

  • Walkers can talk? Hm... Nah, I doubt that.

  • The zombie apocalypse happened four years ago. I'd think if they were capable of talking it would have been brought up already.

I really think its either a new antagonistic group (maybe a cult, maybe not) walking around in walker guts.

  • But that doesn't mean they'd easily just adapt out of nowhere. Walkers would get smarter years after first being developed. So it'd make sense that two years in, they'd start murmuring and talking.

  • I didnt assume they would all just start acting human again, but no evidence has pointed to walkers having any mental activity. Even if it did, 2 years of their brain decaying would likely cause mental regression, rather than progression. But I haven't read many of the comics, so correct me if I am wrong.

  • Won't belive it 'till I see a walker actually talking. I think that the guy in front of Jesus is the cover is human, and he was hiding in the herd

  • It could just be gas, or living in such a horrible world could've caused the Survivors to start hearing things.

Ooh I forgot Rick has spoken to the dead before, though supposedly it's just in his mind. But what if it wasn't? Sometimes the people he talked to could've been walkers. Remember the telephone that he used to talk to dead Lori on? It didn't last long in the show, but I think he carried it around for a while in the comics. Not all the people he talked to in the show could've been walkers though. Amy was shot by Andrea, and Lori was supposedly eaten by a walker, bones and all until there was nothing left (I guess? Still don't buy that. Also it's interesting they never show Carl shooting Lori's head onscreen; we just hear a gunshot.) But Jim and Jacqui could've been walkers. In the comics, it looks like it's just Lori he talks to. But the Lori in the comics was shot in the back, so she could've been a walker! Assuming they actually have electricity and zombie fingers are nimble enough to work phone buttons/dials, would be a neat twist.

  • One problem.

It was never connected to anything and there was no power.

  • Well idk about the comics. But in the show, there was a scene where Rick passed the entire phone (not just the handset) to Hershel, and from how the wire tightened, it seemed it was connected to the wall. And in the episode right before, Rick had lost his wife because the electricity generators were on and the sirens were going off, remember? They didn't know how to work the generators exactly, so it could've been some power was still on even after they shut them off. Rick could've hallucinated some of the calls (like the ones with people who were clearly not walkers) but the others might've been real.

Hehe I know I'm reaching here but I'm just speculating. ;)

  • Lori was killed by Carl in the series. Shot straight in the head. Then the rest of her was eaten by a zombie.

You really didn't think this through.

Yes, I know Lori was supposedly killed by Carl, and I know she was eaten by a zombie. I said that above.

Honestly I don't really think walkers probably called Rick; like I said I'm just speculating here for fun.

As I said above, they never actually showed Carl shooting her at all onscreen, let alone in the head. But now I remember some time later Carl tells Daryl that he had to shoot Lori, so there's that. Also, to say a single zombie can eat an entire human skeleton is ridiculous. There were no bones of Lori's left at all when Rick found her. Do you know how wide an adult human pelvis is or how long the human femur is? Big enough that those bones, let alone her entire skeleton couldn't rationally have fit through that zombie's mouth, esophagus, and stomach. And don't even get me started on her skull. But this is a television show and I never really thought this theory was true in the first place, so I digress.

  • Hmm, I was just thinking back on this topic, and I had a fun idea. Not an idea I believe to be likely or to happen, but one I would enjoy seeing. If the walkers aren't actually talking and it's just someone moving through the herd pretending to be one, I would like that person to be Jane. Remember back in episode 1 of the game where we see Hershel and Glenn? Well, that's been our only real crossover with the story going on in the comics. It would be nice to have one with a character that was left unknown in the game being brought over to the comics.

This could be done with Christa or Molly appearing in Rick's community after the timeskip (assuming they're never brought back to the game) and their stories are finished there. Or something that would be cooler would be if Jane was brought back still a loner, but now she has completely lost it and just wanders with the walkers barely staying alive. I would like it if the walker in the image was just Jane, 2 or 3 years later, and she has just wandered aimlessly and alone. Just a feral, lonely person that Jesus mistakes for an actual walker, and they end up just killing her out of mercy.

I don't see this happening, and I am not sure if Jane is the kind of character whose personality would give out after a couple more years. But I think it would be a nice way to show that even though you're tough and can make it on your own, it might not be worth it seeing what you can turn into. And I just would really like a game character being brought over to the comics and finishing their story there.

  • Finally, something interesting is going to happen. "not if consumer control has anything to say about it!"
