Sounds like Clem's time as protagonist is over.

In the tweet for the trailer, Telltale said this:

'Your choices will decide Clem's fate. Who will YOU become? ‪#‎MyClementine‬'.

The talk about Clem 'becoming' something which differs for people, and deciding Clem's 'fate' all sounds rather final.

It sounds like either Clem will just be character in the group and not who we play as, or we just won't hear from Clem again.

  • I'd rather have a second outcome than the first one...

  • Nah I dont think so. I wouldnt understand why Telltale would make anyone besides Clem there protagonist/ playable character.

How else does saying 'your choices will decide clem's fate' mean anything though?

Nah I dont think so. I wouldnt understand why Telltale would make anyone besides Clem there protagonist/ playable character.

  • Yeah, it all has an air of finality to it. You have no idea how I don't want this to be the end of her in all the sense of the word, but people in hell want ice water. All that remains is to wait and see.

I think that this will be the last we see of her. Telltale will most likely make her a determinant, and we all know determinants are just dead people walking, should they continue appearing in future episodes.

  • I agree it sounds definitely like it
and even though it will be fucking sad maybe its for the best?
at least we will be able to decide her fate

The whole trailer mood.. hadn't it resemble you saying good bye? I don't want to believe she's gonna die though. You know how TT like to surprise us.

  • NO!! She MUST live!! And continue being the protagonist! I wouldn't be able to handle it if she didn't!

  • Yeah and In the trailer it seems like like is amid the ruins

  • It sounds like it could be. But I don't think it should end just yet. By the wording of it, it sounds more like WHO she becomes in the sense of a heroine or a villian

  • Variety, regarding the season protagonist and the themes to explore.

An inability to continue her story in an interesting and meaningful way.

Because their story demands this to be the end of her in order to end in a satisfactory manner.

Because the marketing for this game glorifies "da feels" and crying, and this is an effective way to bring those out.

Nah I dont think so. I wouldnt understand why Telltale would make anyone besides Clem there protagonist/ playable character.

  • Well it doesn't mean she dies. They could simply introduce another protagonist. Which I would prefer, since clem herself got not really that much developement and shape to her character due to being the protagonist.

  • I think will be. I think our choices could determine if Clementines lives or dies. However I really hope they don't throw away the character, as she's been developed for the past two years and quite well if I'm honest. Plus if this is the case, then who will we be playing in Season Three? I'm interested, excited, sad and happy.

This is exactly what I think. Still, that also leads me to believe that Clementine will definitely not be around much for the third season, if at all. However, I highly, highly doubt she'll die....so there is a chance this might not be the case(her not being the protagonist).

I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Why would the first part of the trailer end with Carver's lines and Clem saying "i'm not like you". She'll just go through some MAJOR change not die.

"Your choices will decide Clem's fate."

    choices never mattered anyways

  • Wasn't there a thing about Mass Effect 3 where some people wouldn't be able to use their ME2 save because everyone including Shepard died on the suicide mission, so saves with that ending couldn't carry over?

Not 100% sure on that but if it's true they could end up doing something similar.

  • Yeah but that happened to such a tiny amount of players that they could get away with it :p

Seriously you'd have to play the game with your eyes shut for every single person to die.

  • Geez, her "fate" is not life or death. Clearly, if we could choose her fate in that sense we would make her live. Its just fate as in where she ends up. And in totality everyone will have the same ending so its not like some Clems are going to live while others dont.

  • i am not saying that this is goodbye to clem and it does not indicate a good bye to clem but maybe after this it means you get to decide if she stays the way she use to be or becomes a tuff reliable person or a tuff solo person or maybe she becomes bad but it sounds like the choice you make may change who she was and she becomes a different person than how we knew her

  • Season 3 with new people would be interesting, but I could see Clem still being the protag in season 3 so...
I guess we will wait and see.

  • Fate isn't a representation of death. It just means who she is now, who she's become and what she's had to deal with. Her fate is to simply live this way now for example.

  • Or decide how she lives..

Fate possibly? Decide how she dies... man I cant believe this could be how it is

  • Totally. You'd have to be really bad to get that ending.

  • To me, it sounds like what will her fate be as in who will Clementine be at the end of the episode. Hence the "Who will you become?" card that shows at the end of the episode 5 trailer.

  • She won't die, I think the when they say choose her "fate" They are telling us to choose what type of person Clem will become, Will she become something else such as a hardened survivor or a Legacy of Lee?

Telltale can't kill Clementine anytime soon, She has been the base of The Walking Dead Game since it started. No other Character in the game has a strong connection to the fans Like Lee and Clem.

I hope we will play as her in season 3... I want Clem to have a series with a proper start and a proper fulfilling Conclusion, They always make things more complicated by switching characters when they can already build on their original ones...

  • Anyone else bothered by the fact that the only words he's actually mouthing are "Kill Clementine, okay?"

I don't think they are going to kill Clementine.

By the "Who will you become?" phrase i think they are hinting on what type of survivor Clem will become based on your choices, is she going to be cold like Carver or will she be more humane.

One example is we might have the choice to be able to leave the baby to die in order to save herself and others as he could be considered "weak", like Carver said in his office "Killing one in order to save many is part of survival, It's one of the tough decisions that a weaker person couldn't make. It's why it falls to people like us to lead them to safety"

Maybe the baby is the one person we might have to "kill" in order to survive and lead the rest of the group (if there is one) to safety.

  • Well maybe if your Clem is played in such a way that her character still has humanity/innocence, and has morals, then she might end up dying for simply being "too sensitive" or "too weak" in a certain situation.

If you play your Clem as a hard survivor, somebody who prefers survival over morality, then Clem will end up stepping up in the finale and surviving.

  • Morality always pays off in the long run, She will survive but she can also look back on her life with less guilt, That's what I want with my Clem.
