In the situation we're presented I'm saving the baby. We're near a town and there may be people. In the wilderness I'm leaving the baby. If I get bitten that baby dies anyway.
If I was faced with the choice to either save the baby or save Clementine, I'd be undoubtedly adhering to the same moral system that I've been adhering to since Season One, a code of ethics of which is principled for the benefit of others. And so, I'd demonstrate sacrificial love towards the baby in hopes of preserving a life that's filled with innocency and pureness, something that's not too common in the zombie apocalypse. This sacrificial love is the same one that Lee demonstrated towards Clementine, in it that he was so determined to assure the safety of her at all costs, that he selflessly went out looking for her alone, placing the dangers of the world aside, risking his life for her, which in turn enacted the beginning of his untimely demise.
If i can save the baby, fine. I will try, but if its impossible without being bit, its on its own. Its not like its going to survive the winter anyways.

Do you think us evil "survivalists" like leaving a baby behind? Do you think IF the game gives us the option and a select few choose personal survival is more important than moral idealism, that Clementine will be happy?
People can't differentiate between cold blooded calculus and simple survival. I would hate leaving a starving baby to die, I truly would. However, if placed in a similar situation, I can't take care of a baby. And just because it's a baby doesn't mean you should haul him around to feel entitled to some kind of personal salvation of your soul.
I've seen a lot of people comparing this action to Crawford, which is quite ridiculous seeing as Crawford was a huge settlement complete with water, electricity, food, and everything else. Clementine could quite possibly be on her own, slowly dying, in the freezing cold. An eleven year old girl who has witnessed the worst of humanity. I can't protect a baby any more than anyone could protect Sarah.
Remember when Pete asked Clementine to "take good care of Nick?" He died, sometimes things don't end well, and that's what I'm scared about. The risk is too high for the potential return.
I've made what I believe to be the more moral choices throughout Season 2, and once that baby arrived I pretty much dedicated myself to protecting it. I'd save the baby without a second thought.
What I mean is, it would be better to humanely euthanize the baby instead of leaving it to starve and freeze to death or possibly be eaten by walkers or whatever wild animals are around.
I wouldn't think of a survivalist as evil. But I just wouldn't be able to stomach leaving a baby behind, even if I had to. I just can't imagine how I would do that. If the worst happens, and it would be better for the baby to die than let it live like this, then I would.
Some might, but I just wouldn't be able to do that.

I have played the innocent and kind Clem this season.. She hasn't killed a living person with intent yet.. I hope to keep it that way for as long as possible.. Like Lee said "Only do it when you absolutely have to"
"We are still Alive and we have to Keep hope Alive too, We hold onto that hope, Its the one thing none of this can take away" - Lee
I'm sorry but how would you humanely euthanize the baby in the middle of the apocalypse? It's not like Clem is carrying around something such as morphine and a syringe..

If I'm useful enough to a group or a community, I'll consider sacrificing 'some' to survive and somehow be useful to those that may need me.
It's a gamble, but I'll take the blame. It's not like I'll just do some unreasonable decisions when giving up on someone, which may lead to false hopes. (i.e large wounds, 50% disabled, etc.)

I'll follow Lee's steps and take care of those who can't do it for themselves regardless of the consequences. If you cast aside your human side, it means this world already won against you.

If you left the baby that just means that Carver was right about you/Clementine all along...
Killing one in order to save many is part of survival. It's one of the tough decisions that a weaker person couldn't make. There are weak and we are strong. It's why it falls to people like US to lead them to safety...
I'm not like you.
I know it when I see it. And we are more alike than you think. In fact I think you realize it, but you're just not comfortable yet...

Those people saved her life, they are her family, I'd go straight into hell if it's for the ones I love, survival matters, but you need people to make progress instead of just be on the run alone anyway.

definitely Morals before a cold hearted decisons, yes you could die defending your morals but at least you didn't become a coward to save your own skin, there seems to be a lot of survivalist shows at the moment on tv,these make me laugh, they are made for tv and if the person who presented them was really in a dangerous position they would probably be no better off than you or me. It's fashionable it seems to be a loner.
I think its a bit different in this situation since Clementine could learn to protect herself and possibly duck if he were to grow up, but the problem is that taking care of the baby is harder then taking care of an 8 year old girl that is pretty smart. Plus the baby might not want to live through this world and your putting him through a "forced march through hell". You will have to live with the baby for 7 years before it can start to be a bit of help and theres no educational things for him which will make it that much harder. And as jane said "give it enough time and everyones luck runs out" , so basically your killing the baby either way, in one he will be put through the forced march the other he will die right then and there and be able to live with his family in heaven.
I'll follow Lee's steps and take care of those who can't do it for themselves regardless of the consequences. If you cast aside your human side, it means this world already won against you.
"I'm sorry sweetheart but it's not about right and wrong anymore, it's about survival" - Katjaa
She says this to Clementine when you agree to take supplies from the station wagon and Clementine doesn't.
I dont think a newborn baby can determine whether it wants to live or not. It's human instinct is to live no matter what. Seven is a little old also. Kids can be helpful much earlier than you think if you teach them well. Not that I think Clementine would have to raise a baby alone for seven years. I think if she and the baby are the only survivors, she'll soon run into another group of adults who would help them.

How the fuck are you going too take care of a baby if you couldn't take care and save Sarah ... I'm not saying I wouldn't try my best , I'm just saying at the end of the day it's not gonna end good and its not allways going too end like a fantasy fairytale bringing a newborn baby too the gates on Wellington and living happy ever after
Of course we'd all save anybody in our group and we give 100 percent into looking out protecting and saving group members I'm just saying I'd help and save anybody but if it was a save group member but sacrifice yourself choice I'd allways save myself ... Jane could of saved Sarah only if Jane didn't abandon saving Sarah she would of saved Sarah in time but she would of gotton bitten saving Sarah ... the same way Jane won't sacrifice herself too save Sarah I wouldn't sacrifice myself too save anybody
I would definitely save myself (Clementine) over anyone else in the group.... I love my crew, cough "Bonnie" and I always help when I can..… more. save people in my group in every way possible... my Clementine is sweet and kind... but she would definitely choose her own life over another.

I hope you wouldn't just leave him. At least put him down gently so he doesn't suffer.
I would rather die the hero, than live long enough to see myself become the villain...

If I was holding the baby I wouldn't just toss it. I'm thinking of a scenario where I would have to fight to the baby and get bitten in the process.

Just because the world has gone to shit doesn't mean you have to join it.

I just don't fucking know about the baby. On one hand I want it to live but on the other hand I don't want it making Clementine walker bait.

A sharp object to the head is humane compared to starving, freezing, or being eaten alive.
Id take the baby so I could use it as a Monkey Bomb if I ever get cornered
Whatever it takes. I dont like saying this but there has to be a way to make sure the baby doesn't suffer.
Yes. If you don't care about anyone, no one will care about you. People help each other survive.

Wow and they totally hinted at this in the trailer! You sir deserve a cookie.
I won't abandon the baby, no matter how many times Telltale tries to persuade me to leave him as they did with Sarah in EP4.

Let's hope in falls on us to decide who Clementine would turn out to be.
I would try to help everyone as best as I can. There's no reason to just inhumanely give up on people like Jane does.
It's okay. I can easily say this living normally and safely. But these events could change me, I can't know for sure.
I had a thread exactly like this before you... Why is mine not being posted on?

That advice had dire consequences. We end up losing Lee because of that action.

By the way, if your life was determined by TTG after that moment, you'll die anyways, because you would officially be determinant. Congrats.
