What I think the theme will be for No Going Back

I touched this slightly in the main E05 discussion thread but I figured I'll express this in a bit more detail.

Two key lines that get refereed to when Episode 5 has been discussed by Telltlale are:

#MyClementine

and

Who will you become?

People are worrying that Clementine might end up dying from what these two lines seem to be referring to but I disagree. What Telltale are trying to get across here is the the change Clementine will go through in the final episode. Everything that has happened throughout Season 1 and 2 has been leading up this. Clementine in season 1 was a witness to who Lee was, she knew he was a killer and your actions as Lee showed her what she must do to survive. Did you kill Larry? Did you kill the St Johns? Did you kill Duck? Did you kill Campman? Did you force her to kill Lee?

All those choices showed Clementine what it takes to survive in the world she's living in, and she will take those choices into Season 2 and change with them.

Season 2 has been one big test for Clementine, she's been going at it for so long and she's lost people along the way. She probably feels her own negligence with the gun in the bathstop was the reason Omid died. She was offered so many choices in Season 2 which reflected on her humanity and empathy for the people and things around her. Did you choose to sneak away or help Christa? Did you kill Sam or leave him to suffer? Did become friends with Sarah or did you hate her? Did you save Nick and Alvin? Did you stick out for Kenny or let him get beat up? Did you watch as he brutally murdered Carver? Did you chop off Saritas arm? Did you leave Sarah to die? Did you Shoot Rebbeca?

So many choices were given and so many showed us what our Clementine is willing and capable of doing. In the end everything has been leading up this question: Who will you become?

MyClementine will survive.

She will do whatever she needs to. She's learned now that caring for people doesn't always save them, and she need to realise the only way to survive is to not care. It's a hard and dark choice but Lee, Nick, Alvin, Sarah and Rebbeca are pure examples of where caring gets you, it gets you nowhere; they end up dead no matter what, she want's to care, she want's to keep her humanity, but is it worth it with everyone she cared for dying? We'll have to see on Tuesday

I made a very similar topic in one of my discussion videos after Episode 3 came out if you're interested:

  • I'll just give this one bump in case nobody saw this.

  • My Clementine will be seet and humane. There's enough bad people in the world. I don't want Clem to become one of them.

My Clementine will survive, She'll do her best to survive, But if it comes to leave the baby behind to survive, She'll leave the baby.

  • My Clementine will die a painful death if that's what it takes for the baby's safety. As much as it pains me to say it, I can't allow Clem to become nothing but a cold survivalist.

  • Humane?

How does that reconcile with you being a kenny fan, his killing of Carver wasn't 'humane' :p

  • I never appreciated the killing of Carver. I walked away and then I told Luke that it bothered me.

And please, I don't want to start a discussion here. You're a nice person, but sometimes you just start arguments with no reason. Sorry if I sound offensive.

  • Since they tweeted a picture with the left side of Clementine showing Season 1 and a sunny side, and on the right it's Clementine in Season 2 and a dark and gloomy side, it could mean that she could stay as the person Lee knew her to be or change and become what she needs to be.

  • Well, it's harder to troll me.

It's not really trolling, its more openly attempting to annoy. :)

  • Oh, okay then. I wish you a good day.

  • I'm hoping that "#MyClementine" means that Clementine's fate will be radically different depending on some big decision you make right at the end. Since it's the finale they could probably do it - they could keep everything mostly the same right up until the credits, then have different post-credits scenes based on the choice you made.
