I've never played Silent Hill (or any horror game before), but the new one looks interesting.
Go ahead and kill me but my favorite Silent Hill game is "Shattered Memories". It's such a great game!

Shattered Memories and Origins are getting helluva hate. I only think Homecoming, Downpour, Book of Memories were horrible.

Yes Silent Hill! One of my favorite game franchise's of all time. Before I played TWD, SH2 was my favorite game. It has one of the best stories I've ever seen in a game, has great scare value and most of the game doesn't rely on jump scares like any typical horror game would. I love the psychological aspect behind it all and Pyramid Head is everybody's favorite rapist. Silent Hills definitely looks like something us fans have been needed for quite some time now.
I've only Played Silent Hill 1, Silent Hill 2, Silent Hill 3, Silent Hill 4: The Room, half of Origins and all of Downpour.
Haha nice! Well Silent Hill is special because of that all horror games they scare you because of the jumpscares. The ending sequences are amazing too. I think "In The Water" ending was so depressful and sad. I haven't played Silent Hill 1 yet but I will. I have played Silent Hill 2, Silent Hill 3, Silent Hill: The Room, Origins and Shattered Memories.
The "In Water" ending is my favorite ending. I always love the sad endings in games XD
If you haven't played Shattered Memories yet I recommend you to check it out. There is no fighting with monsters, you just escape. It has 3 encounters: Good, Bad, Delusional. And there is 4 endings: Love Lost, Drunk Dad, Wicked and Weak, Sleaze and Sirens. You get these depending on your psych profile.

Oh my god, THANK YOU. I can't believe Downpour is so positively received. It doesn't deserve to be called a Silent Hill game.
Not so positive actually. It's mixed but it's the criitcs who likes the game.
Really? I've seen nothing but praise. I was pleasantly surprised with how Shattered Memories turned out, though. It has so much replay value.
I like all the silent hill games , if there was any series i would probably White Knight for, it would be this series. Silent Hill 2 is my favorite, the whole James character was surreal to me, it was like living in a mirror.
I finally beat that damn playable teaser on the ps4. It took me forever to figure out what I was doing wrong to finish the final puzzle. I would say though the demo was freakin awesome and I can't wait for the full game. BTW the problem was that a microphone is required (I think) for the demo and I did have it plugged in, but not all they way (you have to really jam it in the controller lol).
i played a little bit with that playable demo, it took forever for me to find it. I keep looking for "Silent Hills", after doing some research i figured out it was actually named PT for some stupid reason. I didn't really understand the demo, hopefully it will follow the same style as all the other ones. If Kojima makes this game into another Amnesia Clone i'm going to be pissed.
People are saying Akira is composing the soundtrack for Hills.
IGN's score for Downpour is 5.4. First time I actually agree with them.
I hope they put more detail in the monster design, downpour's enemies felt pretty weak.
My favourite Silent Hill is the second one. Absolute masterpiece in horror genre. Best story I've ever seen in games. I love the way how metaphorical it is. It's full of symbols and references to Bible. I also value that Silent Hill doesn't make players scared by putting in game all these ugly screaming faces, but by introducing atmosphere of anxiety, fear and doubt. That's something unusual about horrors. Characters are very well designed, especially James and Angela. Almost all endings are open and allows players to interpret the future fate of characters. My favourite ending? 'In Water' of course. In my opinion it's the best ending. Others are incomparable. Very moving and quite unexpected and even ironic, because at the end James says to Angela that he would never kill himself. : D
What do you guys think about James fate? I think "In Water" is the canon. But I want him to live.
I'm a sucker for happy endings, so my favorite is "Leave". James forgives himself and honors Mary's last wish to continue living. Plus, it's implied that he's going to adopt Laura, like Mary wanted to. "In Water" is largely considered to be canon though.
God damnit. All the characters except Travis and Heather dies. Most are determinant but James and Harry dies no matter what.
I know I'm in denial, but I personally don't accept "In Water" as canon. XD My James is alive.

'In Water' or 'Rebirth'. I think James would do everything to get back his beloved wife, that's why he would resurrect her or at least try to. But even if Rebirth is canon, I have a feeling that James doesn't succeed at resurrecting. In Silent Hill there are no happy endings. Mary would be just an illusion of her or just brainless zombie brought back to live.
I hope it's Rebirth. James is one of my favourite characters in Silent Hill.
But even after Rebirth he would be still trapped in Silent Hill or commit suicide when he sees that his wife is nothing but walking corpses with no brain nor emotions. : >
After all, worst ending for James is Maria ending. Seriously. It turns out he didn't understand his crime/sin and he has to get through all of this once again. In addition, James in this ending falls in love with someone who is not real. It's a being created by the town with help of James' desires. According to this we can call Maria a real femme fatale. : D
The best is the "Dog Ending" it should be considered canon.
I couldn't believe I got that "In Water" ending on my first time playing the game, didn't realize I was making James do suicidal like things. I thought the damn knife would be used in a puzzle so I kept looking at it and trying to use it. Also, I wanted to conserve my healing items so I would just walk around with low health from time to time. I always go for the happy ending first time around and this made me a little upset when I got that ending.
What are you opinions? Does Angela die when walking up burninig stairs (metaphor of commiting suicide)or is it just metaphor of catharsis and beginning a new life?
Water is definitely Cannon, do yo really see James taking care of Laura. From what i understand the Super in four was his father, and i think if i remember correctly they hint that James is gone.
Two is the best. I can relate with James Character , i know what it is like to watch someone die and there is nothing you can do to stop it.
She suicides off-screen. It was confirmed by a developer.

I was always under the impression that she died before James came to Slient Hill. She was just a tortured spirit whose father molested her. She eventually bludgeoned him to death, but by doing so trapped her in Silent Hill to suffer forever.
I love Silent Hill. Sure there have been a few disappointments (Downpour, Origins) but overall, a great franchise. 2 and 3 would have to be the best.
Cant wait for the new one.
