And how is a 11 year old gonna know that? :P Also she did it to cover it in the hoard.
Another more important question. Why did she even take the baby with her when she goes alone? Why bother, it'll be very hard to defend yourself while holding a baby... that needs to be taken care of a lot too.
That ending was a mess, if the baby cries both he and clem are devoured in a second.
