Think of the Kenny situation this way

Lee Everett himself murdered a man purely because he slept with his wife. When queried on the topic, Lee explains how he originally got into a fight but was pushed over the edge... He killed a guy over something far more trivial than what enraged Kenny before the apocalypse had even started, yet we forgave him and allowed him to go on and seek redemption.

Did Lee deserve to be shot? Nope. Was the guy that slept with his wife an asshole who deserved it? Debatable.

Did Kenny deserve to be shot? Clearly that's debatable (though I don't entirely see why) Was Jane an asshole for manipulating him and purposely inducing anger? Yes.

I'm not looking to change anyone's opinion on Kenny's actions, but have a ponder on that thought. I think people should be much slower to condemn Kenny considering Lee's kill was honestly a lot more unforgivable.

Kenny absolutely doesn't deserve to be shot. Jane had been egging him on and pushing him over the edge for who knows how long. She was acting like a complete asshole in the car, which is especially inconsiderate of her because Clem was injured and unconscious in the back seat. Kenny was trying to save everyone - Clem, AJ, and Jane. He didn't anticipate Bonnie and Mike to leave, and he especially didn't expect that idiot Arvo to shoot Clem.

So if Kenny's nerves were rattled as they were driving off, how can you blame him? He's just been betrayed by people he trusted, he's got a wounded 11 year old in the back, and he's got a woman to his right who is mercilessly berating him and insulting him and his dead loved ones.

Then Jane lied about the baby, and that pushed it way too far. Kenny's reaction was completely justified. Kenny is a serious hothead, but he is not insane. Jane, unfortunately, is.

  • Very thought provoking. Thank you.

  • Jane was just upset because Kenny wouldn't sleep with her as easily as Luke did.

  • The thing is, Lee can be a very likeable and helpful person in the game, given the player's actions. Kenny is just an asshole through and through, 100% of the time, and is unredeemable.

Did you see the Wellington endings? The man's admirably selfless without a question of a doubt.

  • In complete agreement with you here. Jane practically asked to be killed by provoking Kenny like that.

  • Lol, yeah... She definitely just seemed keen for a little surrogate sister, and cared about no one else.

  • That's what I love about the whole fight scene and consequential decision. You can argue for either side and it's so hard to get your head around what's right and what isn't... A lot of thought involved, for sure.

  • 205 was a loyalty test towards Kenny..If jane was the one about to kill Kenny during the choice,Im sure most of the people would Kill jane..Im a huge kenny fan but telltale made him the threat during the choice and that made me think..I didnt shoot him tho! :) Nice point you got there!

  • Here's the difference - you can prevent Kenny from murdering Jane. The only reason I "forgave" Lee was because I was Lee. If I were playing as Larry I would've killed Lee in episode one. If I were Kenny I would have left him behind. If I were Carley I would have ratted him out.

Most people forgive Lee as a character for what he did, though. I'm aware there are some like yourself who would have understandably had a vendetta against him had he been an NPC, however.

I loved Kenny but he had just becomming to Carver-like. And he was damn dangerous. Yes he had a lot of reasons and Janes pushed him, but killing someone or beat someone to death is no fcking solution. Look I dont say that it's right to shoot Kenny. But dont say it's the right choice to let him kill jane. Both have their good and bad points in this situation. The reason i choose Jane was that Kenny really scared me in this season sometimes. Sometimes he really reminds me on Carver. He seemed to often too dangerous. It was just like the situation with Shane from the TV show. U know the things that shane does were actually good. He really helped the group on his ways. But the ay he did it was just...dangerous. Kenny looked more threatening.
    Sry for grammar

The other main point is that Lee wasn't in the middle of trying murder anyone. Based on my playing of Lee I knew that Lee would never murder again. Kenny proved with Arvo that given the chance he would have beaten the kid to death. He proved with Jane that he wasn't interested in the truth. Kenny was different in so many ways. Lee found a way to remain peaceful even when faced with the St. Johns.

-Kenny suggest you let the woman suffer to buy time at the pharmacy.
-Kenny did his best to get you to kill Ben.
-Kenny watched as my Lee was nearly killed in the Pharmacy.
-Kenny tried to kill Molly without asking questions.
    -Kenny brutalized Arvo.
-Kenny caused discord in the group - stay at the motel or leave, north or south, declaring the boat and truck to belong to him, willing to leave Omid behind, treating Jane like shit from the start, etc etc.

These are not the actions of a stable man.
