I have heard good things from this game. How scary is it from 1 to 10? EDIT:Just saw a video... that fucking scream man

  • I wasn't either apparently. Its actually way worse when you're playing it yourself. The game does a great job making it feel like you're part of the environment..

Scooby Doo Mystery Mayhem. 7 spooky 23 me.

Seriously though Outlast could be up there and probably even Bioshock. It's not scary like the others but the immersion is great. Hearing a Splicers rants in the distance is pretty creepy.

  • I really enjoy horror game but have never played a game that i consider really scary, i played Outlast and it did make me jump a few times especially the jump scare near the start :P

    IMVU - scary level maximum.

  • The original Obscure and Silent Hill are probably right up there for me as scariest.

  • Dead Space is horrifying, it's the only horror games that have literally made me sick to my stomach because it makes me so scared/anxious/nervous. So yes, please, play it. You won't regret it. :)

I don't play too much scary games but maybe Slender, Resident Evil 4,Bioshock and Left for Dead Can someone tell me if Dead Space is good ? cause i wanna try it

  • Dead Space 2. Returning to the Ishimura, knowing what happened there, and then being confronted by hordes of Necromorphs, I literally almost threw up thinking about it when the story told me it was time to go check it out.

  • I played it twice... Cause I'm hardcore like that. The free DLC Justine is even scarier! OMG just thinking about it is freaking me out.

I'm not easily scared... Not bragging but its true. I almost gave up on horror until I played Amnesia The Dark Descent. No game has come close. And I realize why. Its because you have no means of defending yourself. You hide or you die.. That simple. People are talking about Dead Space and such when that game never came close to scaring me. Why should I be scared when I can shoot at everything that moves? Give me no guns whatsoever then and only then will I consider it horror. Oh and play the free DLC Justine.... That is actually scarier than the base game and thats saying a lot!... Justine is especially terrifying when you discover what its all about!

Outlast also worked in the same way. Give you no means of fighting back..... Give me more like this please!

  • I couldn't get past the sewers. Not sure if that's close to the end or not. I'll probably start over at some point

I had Justine as well, never gave it a shot though.

  • Would you say Outlast was any better than Amnesia? (In the sense of being more scary)

  • In some ways yes and no. The hospital setting is really creepy especially when you discover whats been going on there. They also mix it up by having more than just 1 type of enemy after you. That big guy going "HERE PIGGY PIGGY" was truly terrifying. On the other hand they always gave you an escape. If the guy too close you can run to a narrow corridor and he can't follow. Also he's scripted to only show up in certain parts. That one relied a lot on scripted events to bring the scary. AmnesiaTDD has the scarier atmosphere and it always give you that feeling of nowhere is safe. Its story is also much more disturbing the more you discover the truth.

  • Really? I watched a letsplay of Five Night At Freddy's and I didn't get scared at all. I don't understand why is everyone so freaked out :/

  • Well, I played home alone with all the lights turned off. So there's that.

  • You'd probably have to play it yourself. FNAF is one of those atmospheric games. A lot of the paranoia comes from not being able to move or defend yourself other than shutting the doors, plus you have to worry about conserving power. The jump scares only happen if you fail. The game also has subtle details that add to its creepiness.

  • 'Five Nights At Freddy's' and 'Among The Sleep', even though being Indie titles are goddamn horrifying.

This fucking asshole is the reason why we can't have nice things.

The enemies aren't scary, but it's just the atmosphere, world and audio that gets to you. There's a terrifying mechanic in the game too called sightjack that allows you to "tune in" to the enemies sight allowing you to see what they see. The idea is you use it to work out where the enemies are (you tune in using the analog sticks in their direction) and see how to avoid them (they can't die) or where a needed object is or code etc.

  • At least one person that posted an actual horror game on this thread

Any Barbie game on the Wii...I still have nightmares.
