Things you like/Don't Like About Your Country
I'm Australian, but I have to say the Australian lifestyle ain't for me. For most of the year it's either bushfire season or "wake up freezing" season. People here all seem to dislike Americans, and there's not really that much to do here. Sure,we have a shitload of wildelife parks, but how many times am I supposed to be impressed by bushland? And our schools. The idea of teenagers having any rights seems to be frowned upon. I mean,a teacher never gets shit for bringing a cell phone to class, but students get told that personal devices (such as phones, musîc players ect) are discouraged. Just last week, a kid at my school got told off by a teacher for disagreeing with our uniform policy. Nobody at schools here is allowed to stand out. Hair colorings? Nope. Tattoos? Nope, not even when yôu turn 18 and are legally allowed.
The only good thing I can see is that we have no official religion, so there's no pressure there.
Sorry about the rant, but I kinda had to vent some of that frustration. Anything you guys like/dislike about your country?
Comments
Well, I'm from New Zealand, the beautiful "Land of the Long White Cloud". I like the many different cultures we have but I really dislike lately how there has been quite an upsurge in crime, with a guy recently going into a social welfare office and shooting two people dead before they caught the guy. Really sad.
Having a lot of different culture can cause problems too. Earlier this year, some people were saying that it's racist to fly our flag on Australia day because of how we're meant to accept so many cultures.
Having a lot of different culture can cause problems too.
Yeah that's true.
Things I Like:
So many immigrants supporting terrorism ruining for the immigrants that was born with a brain. And the worst part is that we can't legally send them out of the country without they wanting to leave. We hide terrorists and no one gives a shit but I guess that is the beauty....
New Zealand is my homeland too its a beautiful country but as kiwi said the crime rate has somewhat escalated but Im thankful that it's not a repetitive occurrence that someone is shot it is somewhat of a very rare headline in our news. Our country has problems with cultural and racial differences but we make do and push on and learn to live with it. As a citizen of new Zealand we are a proud country white black whatever there's no place I'd rather be I'm proud to be a kiwi born and raised
Time to rant about politics! Brace yourselves, motherfuckers...

"Not America" XD, I can agree with you, I live in the US and I wish I could move to Canada.
Godammit, I hate politics and I'm an American so I'm not gonna go into that...
Fuck politics!
Fuck Politics!
Fuck. Politics.
Fuck politics!
I hate how no matter where I go, I have to deal with nazi jokes. I didn't really mind them at first, but they tend to get slightly annoying if you have to deal with them every time you are on vacation and someone finds out that you are German. I also hate most of the German cuisine. Can't stand Sauerkraut and many Wursts at all. The football /soccer hype every two years because of either the European or world cup is also really annoying, but I guess you can't escape that shit no matter where you go. Can't really think about good stuff regarding my country, though I am sure there is at least one reason I like this country...even if I can't come up with one.
wow, that bad? I would have never thought that about Germany
Neither would I. I wish people would just forget about that.
Fuck Wall Street. And fuck politics.
I dislike lots of things.
'One advantage of living in the apocalypse is we don't have to deal with that shit no more.' - Kenny, 202
Wiser words have never been spoken
As a German, I like:
these motherfuckers
our language. DON'T QUESTION ME.
german beer (it really is better than most other beers I drank)
the train system. I mean, it's pretty bad, but from what I've heard it used to be great.
OUR DATE SYTEM. DAY. MONTH. YEAR.
the metric system, it makes more sense to me (but probably only because I grew up with it).
beer and wine and other not so strong alcoholic drinks for 16+ and hard alcohol for 18+
our weapons regulations. Noone, not even with a weapon license, is allowed to carry handguns or rifles in public, hunters with a license are only allowed to transport them in their vehicles. Solid knifes are only allowed up to about 12-13cms and 'snapping' knifes only up to 8cms. I feel safe with these regulations, there really aren't many guns around here. No offense, but giving guns to everyone, even little kids, sounds like a bad idea to me.
our cops. They are mostly nice guys, and I've heard some gruesome stories about US cops (though that probably is a myth, too). I'll become a cop, probably.
Lake Constance where I live in Baden-Wurttemberg, the 'state' next to (west of) Bavaria.
What I hate about my country:
Our past. We still deal with this shit every day, and when I read some YouTube comments in our modern time...just sad. I hate being part of that, even though I know most people know today's German's are as normal people as any.
Our school system. It sucks. So. Much.
Weißwurst. Ikr, I'm not a true German :P
The NPD. Destroying Germany's reputation since 1933.
Beate Zschäpe or whatever that bitche's name is. Sometimes I wish death penalty wasn't forbidden anymore.
I don't know why, but somehow I found it funny you 'insulted' me as a motherfucker.
What do you have against anti-smoking ads?
We have the same date system here. Seems like you Europeans have it all figured out
So what's wrong with your school system?
http://m.thelocal.com/20120312/41285
Basically, this.
College in Baden-Wurttemberg is fucking hard, while it is relatively easy in many other states.
I'm German and I can say I've never faced that personally, though I got into some comment clashs on YouTube.
Thank you for having the balls to say all the things I was thinking, but would never be able to say.
Which post are you refering to, my first post or the anti-smoking one?
Well youre just like Francis from L4D.
Oops, sorry, is was @CrazyGeorge I meant to reply too!
Those anti smoking ads are freaky.
That's the point.
Yeah, but nobody wants to see that sh** especially when you're watching tv with your parents and they are both smokers.
Nobody wants to see it, but it's true. Smoking does nothing but take lives. I respect those who do smoke, because at the end of the day it's their choice as long as it doesn't hurt nobody, but if someone asked me if it's a good idea, I'd say no instantly.
What city? I'm a Sydney-sider, we have some flora & fauna around but mostly beaches and I love it. I don't really hate anything about Australia besides the usual grievances (politics, politics & Kyle Sandilands) but I do remember two times when I was so ashamed of certain people in our Country and that was the Cronulla riots and the Indian student bashings in Melbourne, that absolutely sickened me.
Oh yeah, f*ck Rolf Harris too.
Fuck wallstreet
he is a smoker himself, if I'm correct, and he apparently finds it okay for children to smoke too, judging by his comments
it sucks that Germans are still judged for something that happened so long ago, be strong
How do you figure out from his comments that he finds smoking okay? I don't smoke, but I find some of þe ads gross too, and my parents are both smokers (they don't smoke as much as they used too, but they still smoke), so how do you decide that he finds it okay for kids to smoke?
he said it in another thread, i think its called "should Clem smoke and drink" or something like that
Saying Clem should smoke or drink is a tiny bit different than saying kids from today's society should too. After all, Clem lives in an environment in which she could never smoke/drink enough to get to the point in which it becomes lethal. Unless she found a cigarette manufacturing plant that has been left untouched for over 1.5 years. That one gulp of rum she had won't kill her. Nor will a puff of a cigarette. In a world in which she could die any minute, it's probably okay to experience everything you can. After all, if she happens to survive long enough to bear her own children, who will end up asking her a lot of stuff about the pre-apocalypse life, she will have to realize she doesn't know much of it, thus feeling like she missed out on something. Even if she would have ended up hating it anyway.
