  • I cannot stand the politics and the hypocrisy. Everyone screams for FREEDOM unless you don't totally 100% agree with everything they say about everything. Its like this whole Kenny vs Jane thing but 10x worse. "Oh you voted for Obama? Well you deserve to burn in hell" And then you realize its all the same BLAH BLAH BLAH. I went from not paying attention because I didn't care to. Caring too much and getting depressed to..... It was so much better when I didn't care because at the end of the day it really doesn't matter. Everyone takes it to such extremes! "OBAMA'S GUNNA TAKE AWAY OUR GUNS" "YOU'RE RACIST IF YOU DON'T LIKE EVERYTHING ABOUT OBAMA" The hypocrites yell at each other from both sides of the fence not realizing its all meaningless.

US politics have made me so cynical!

I don't care what you can or can't stand about my opinion. The thread's topic is about what you like/hate about your country, that is what I hate about my country. This isn't a debate thread, you do not want to get into this with me.

Oh you have no idea how right you are about that.

    Wasn't looking to start something.

In fact thats kind of my point.... I regret ever getting into that with anyone.

  • Alright then. But just so you know, comments like that are always going to make it seem like you're trying to start something, especially if you directly replied to the person you disagree with.

Its the general viewpoint. Not your specific opinion but the general feeling a lot people have about politics in general. I would say the same thing if someone says something like "Obama is the best thing to ever happen and is fixing everything" or something. I'm not sure if I'm explaining it very well.....

As an American what I like about America is:

    • The Food
    • Awesome tv shows.
    • American Football
    • Our language
    • movies
    • Video Games
    • Music

Things I hate can I say everything else?

  • Oh another thing I hate.... People take it so damn personal.

A simple statement of "I don't agree with you" is like "OMG WHY DO YOU HATE ME SO MUCH! WHY DO YOU HATE AMERICA!!!!!"

I hate Obama he has done nothing good. I almost would rather have Bush back. I have no clue why people didn't vote for Romney I think he would have been a way better president.

  • I thought it was great that they elected the first ever black president. Everyone was raving about how he was going to bring real change. But in reality, a lot of Americans would disagree with that.

That's the biggest mistake our people made though. They elected him mainly for his skin color, so America could be seen as progressive and whatnot. Everything else was secondary, he had the election in the bag the minute he showed up. And now it might happen again, because Hillary Clinton is running, and everyone's going on about having the first woman president, they don't seem to pay attention to anything else but her gender. He changed things alright, but not at all in the way people expected.

  • Eh, I'm pretty sure we'd still be in a crap hole regardless on who was president. The problem with our political system is that both Democrats and Republicans are so polarized none of them want to reach some form of middle ground, and are so quick to jump down each others' throats. It's not solving anything.

I was so pissed when Romney didn't win. It was the only way to get rid of Obama, because even though he's done plenty enough that is warranted for impeachment, if we did impeach him, people would say it's because we're racist. It sucks that we were condemned to another 4 years of this scumbag.

I hate Obama he has done nothing good. I almost would rather have Bush back. I have no clue why people didn't vote for Romney I think he would have been a way better president.

  • It is a beautiful place, I agree on that. Of course, its like any other country, not perfect. But I am proud to say that I am glad I live in this country. Less people, less pollution, a great lifestyle. All I can say is, come on over! :D

  • ^^^ This so MUCH this! I'm worried this thread is turning into Obama hate club.

I'm actually scared to even say my opinion anymore for someone to just say I'm ignorant or some bullshit....... But my friend who is being outright screwed with the health care issue and his health problems doesn't think its as simple as "Obama is destroying merica" Way too much overreacting if you ask me.

  • Sure, it's great that we see a African American man elected as a President considering the history of our country, and not just our country, the entire world. Yes, it's a great thing to see our society/world grow and progress. But at the same time, I personally think Obama is going to go down as the worst President in US History to date. It's sad, but if this happens, it's unfortunate that this label will also go with the first African American president.

And yeah, when he got elected TONS of people thought he was gonna change everything. He did, but not for the better. He's run our country into the ground.

  • I voted for Romney. Lost 'friends' because I did. Yes, he wouldn't have been the best, but at least we could be heading in a better direction instead of this endless debt we're drowning in.

  • Wow. That's low. :(

  • You are so right! Everyone's too busy pointing the finger to even attempt to actually try to fix it.

This is exactly why I just checked out. I didn't bother voting last election and i have no intention to any time soon. I don't see the point until the very issue that has been the problem has been changed. I didn't even like regestering as Independent because I still felt like I was shoehorning myself into a side.

  • To be perfectly honest, all I worry about is taking care of my family. I just try to do whats best for them and we're preparing for when it all goes and shit and we'll be like living in the world of the Walking Dead. Total societal collapse, with only ourselves and the ones we love to keep ourselves going.

  • It honestly doesn't bother me anymore. They should look at their own decisions before trying to demonize me for mine. Another thing, it really shows you who your real friends are. :/

    Wow. That's low.

  • Yea. There's no point in really worrying about it. Its inevitable. Anyone who pays attention to history would see this has happened countless times already. America is no different than Rome. All empires fall eventually.

  • In my experience that is very tame when it comes to politics.

  • Indeed.

  • This is the story of humanity. Civilizations rise and fall, it's our cycle. Similar to the Reaper Cycle from Mass Effect really. (Sorry, I had to work that in there. XD) But, I still am choosing to try and be a History Professor to get this very point across to people. All of this 'peace' is only temporary. History may not repeat itself exactly the same, but it's rise and fall is exactly what we mean when we say, 'History repeats itself.'
