Wellington not what it seems? (And theory for start of season 3)
(Haven't seen a thread based on this so far, so if there is, my apologies)
All we really know about Wellington is based on assumption and word-of-mouth. And that makes me nervous.
So a community is not accepting members on grounds of not enough supplies. Yet they can afford to give out two bags-worth of the stuff to strangers and shoot a bullet. A little dodgy, but okay. Then we have the matter of the walls being HUGE. Like, stupidly huge. Higher than it needs to be to stop walkers from getting in. But high enough to stop people from looking in.
I highly suspect that Wellington lurs people in towards it and robs them of what little they have. I'm not sure if anyone agrees neccesarily, heck its just a theory, but what if Wellington gives these packs to their groups, let them go and return to their base camps or other survivors, then they hunt them down, rob them/kill them and return back with the supplies they so generously donated (with a lot of extras on the side)?
This may seem hugely unlikely, but give it a think.
Telltale have both Jane and Kenny endings involving contact with other groups, only spread out across two different locations. In order to maintain similar story-themes for each player, they will most likely utilize these groups in order deal with whichever character they saved. TWD will get darker as Clem grows older, I think we can all agree, and I suspect the story will begin with "another Omid". The character we like so much being killed off by these groups we trusted (or, in the Clem+Jane+AJ ending, sent away). Clementine would be then left solo with the baby and the series will follow the struggles of a young carer in the midst of the apocalypse with having to be suspicious of everyone in trying to raise the babe right and ensure her own survival.
TLDR:
1) Wellington lurs in and kills their visitors
2) Jane and Kenny will be killed by the relative group to a) Get Clem going solo and b) Enforce a message of "noone's here to guide you anymore".

I don't think Wellington is like St.Johns or anything but I don't think it's gonna work out, that's why I left with Kenny (and a few other reasons)
Like Bonnie did in s2e3+4, right? ;-)
Edith seemed like a genuine person. Looks can be deceiving though...
Unsure why they'd do that. They've done it with St Johns and Carver Camp. The comics also though. It would be boring
I agree, been utterly over-done so I'd hope not.
I do like the idea, it's a logical motive for Wellington. But I think Wellington will be one of the true good towns in TWDG only to be ruined from inside or outside
That wouldn't suprise me one bit if ends up being something other than a safe haven.
But seriously, why would they turn people away and even give them supplies if they were luring and robbing people? That doesn't make any sense.
i think wellington is legit but well most likely fall in season 3, if they were really up to something than they would've taken in clementine and kenny without hesitation
why would they turn people away and give them supplies if they want to rob them, is really doesnt make sense, also there is a big difference between handing out a few supplies and a long term stay, basic things like clean water usage and food adds up quite significantly over time so it would only be sensible not to over stretch.
also things like that wall would take massive amounts of cooperation and teamwork to get built, sure the walking dead + normal people = crazy people, but really it would just be an actual sanctuary from the harsh zombie apocalypse .
the only thing that could happen that would be somewhat realistic is if wellington is attacked by the governor 2.0 and his army
Probably. It is a likely scenerio.
Or maybe it is a nice and safe place at first (by the time we arrive there) but then taken over by a psychopath (or a group of them) and then the utopia turns into a nightmare.
Mmm makes me wonder if wellington will be attacked in season 3 by a huge group of bandits only because they didn't had room for more, so they gather people to raid the camp..
i think somewhere so big would just get rid of a psychopath leader, even the governor was generally nice to most of the people that were in his town for that very reason
yeah it seems like if they are going to carry on the wellington story, the only plausible reason for things to change significantly would be a hostile takeover (in the combat sense)
It's going to be like terminus off the t.v. show dem cannibals doe
they would have let kenny in if they wanted to eat people
Oh........... well I'm dumb
nah, just pessimistic or the walking deadistic, same thing
Maybe they could be a group of scientists that are trying to find a cure and they brought Clementine in to test it on her
I want next season to focus on Clem in Wellington and community life, that would be very interesting to see!
Yeah her trying to interact with people and make new friends!!!!!
Going on supply runs and fending off walkers from the gate! Maybe getting to be a kid for a while and be with more kids her age!
like ive said maybe it is legit but someone is kinda at war with them. maybe it is legit but it has some problems with in, it has shaky leadership, and some people don't agree and they fuck shit up. but the thing is that at some point this shit has to join right?? I mean I love TT and I think they can pull it off, but it will probably mean that they will have to take longer to release being different stories depending on all endings. I mean, lets take the wellington one, clem stayed at well. and shit goes down and they escapes with a group that she has grown to trust and they say they have heard that this community has spread a bit somewhere else were it could be potentially safer, so they have to go over there. as for the one where you went with Kenny they kept communication with some people at wellington because they decided to stay close and talk to someone to keep tabs to see if theres a potential opening for them, then shit goes down then they hear the same thing and they go to that same place they have heard. and shit happens like always on the road. for the ending with jane well shit falls again, maybe heard problems, and some people they've let in heard about the same place so they decide to go there to. the alone endings well she runs into a group and and hears about that and tries to go over there. idk maybe something like that, because I think the game at some point has to be at the same place, right???
The thing about massive survivor holdouts, and even small ones, is that as soon as the protagonist finds them it is 100% inevitable that they are going to fall. Wellington may have lasted 1,000 years and rebuilt the entirety of Michigan, started public schooling, raised livestock, and cured cancer, but as soon as it was mentioned that the protagonist wanted to find it that all went out the window.
lol thats what happened with alandria.
twd comic reference.
Wellington is screwed, so it wont take in more people but still gives out huge bags of supplies to anyone who shows up? I dont understaned anyone who wants to stay there those bleeding hearts are pretty much dead already
Gee, I wonder who would want to stay at a secure, well-supplied place full of compassionate people? I'm sure being out in the wasteland and living under a dictator is so much better!
Walter,Matthew. There. An example of what being bleeding hearts gets you
One group of bandits and wellington is sunk. Also I wouldnt stay there because in no time they will run out of food and all starve. I mean one small group could analyse what guards are on watch when and then switch clothes number of people etc and get a bag of food every day or so.
I'm sure there's a difference between a couple of people and an entire community that's dealing with over-population and environmental hazards. Acting selfish will only get you killed, if Carver and Jane are any indication.
Janes alive for many so I dont know what you mean there.
Im not suggesting that you ignore everyone and just look out for yourself but be smart about it. You dont have enough room just tell people to leave, its harsh but will save all the people insides lives.
That's why I also said "or a group of them" so that maybe they can somehow intimidate the crowd. Besides we don't know how many people in there. Maybe only the psychos have access to weapons and the rest are unarmed? I don't know, I'm just shooting ideas in the dark.
Well the same supplies Arvo had in the house were from Wellington, and they didn't seem to hunt them down. Not to mention it seems like way to much work to go hunt people down when you could have easily just sniped them.
I don't think so. They let Kenny and Clem go with two bags of supplies. If they wanted to eat them or rob them they could easily had done it when Edith had them at gunpoint.
Like the St. John's?
I can't wait for season 3!!
