So I played Season 1 and Season 2 together...personal thoughts.
- Season 1: What can I say? A great piece of interactive fiction that touched so many people's hearts back in the day and even if most of the choices end up not leaving much of an impact, this is still a thrilling memorable story about family, redemption, and loss, and the characters are still likable, sympathetic, and interesting. A work of art that I think alot of gamers should experience.
- Season 2: It's okay, a decent character study and an enjoyable zombie experience, but it's kind of a mess, but an enjoyable mess. Missed opportunities, not enough character development for other characters, wasted character potential, too many plot devices, inconsistency, lame fan service for a fan favorite character and deaths that don't leave much of an impact, I could go on all day on how terrible In Harm's Way was and I could probably squeeze in a couple paragraphs on what this season desperately needed and what went wrong(in my eyes) and how each character probably could have been handled, but I think some folks have already done that in the past, I'm not really satisfied with how Season 2 turned out, I'm kind of underwhelmed, even though I do think it starts out promising, but it kind of goes downhill once episode 3 and 4 start opening up with episode 5 kind of going back to what made the first season good in a couple of areas, FOR ME this is just one of those disappointing sequels that never really lived up to the first one, it has good stuff, but it really could have been so much better, if anyone thinks Season 2 is better than Season 1, THAT IS PERFECTLY FINE, I won't judge anyone and I will respect anyone's opinion, Season 2 just didn't work 100% for me, it's my opinion, and I won't try to change anyone else's if they disagree, let's just try to be civil and respectful.

The game is probably gonna get the same that happened with the T.V show. A HORRIBLE Season 2 but then the series start picking up and become great again around Season 5. ONE CAN HOPE
I can't imagine why people would describe season two as horrible.
The smart thing I think Telltale needs to do is to take their time and not try to rush a story or episode and don't try to cater too hard to the fanbase when it comes to fan favorite stuff and don't try to work on other games.
I agree with you. But still... that train map puzzle. Man. That still makes me angry. I think that 'Around Every Corner' is a lot weaker than the rest of the season, but apart from that, I completely agree with you. Great stuff.
I can see where you coming from. I kinda agree with you, but personally, I see it a bit different. While I think that season one is a better experience, I kinda enjoyed playing season two a tad more. But yeah, I get you. It's nice to see someone explaining why season two isn't that good without blind hate.
If Telltale aren't working on any other projects whilst working on Season 3, then I have up most confidence that it will be right up there with the 1st Season. Plus get rid of this ridiculous 90 minute rule and introduce some proper hubs to explore.
Thanks.
Because season 1 set the bar too high.
R.I.P.Nick (A.K.A. Wasted Potential)
Probably. The most people who say that season two is horrible probably expected the game of the century.
I never had high expectations to begin with. I was honestly convinced that the second season would disappoint me, maybe that's why I think it's so fantastic.
Still, people should realize that what they describe as 'horrible' is still better than 90% of the rest of the games.
Around every corner was one of the best imo. Mainly because of Molly
.
Weird, it's the episode I like the least (well, apart from 400 Days). It's still good though, I personally would rate it 7/10, because I think that Crawfrod was a lot of wasted potential and the sewers section ... yeah, I found it pretty boring.
Shows how different tastes are. 'All That Remains' is one of my absolute favorites, and a lot of people don't like it at all.
Yes J Master why would you not like Season 2?
i wonder why...
EDIT: though i must say youre a lot more reasonable then most critical users on here.
He did not said he doesn't like it. He found it enjoyable, but it didn't 100% work for him.
Don't start a flame war, please. It's a perfectly legitimate opinion, well worded, and it was fun to read for me (and I LOVE season two).
I wonder if TellTale is biting off more than it can chew right now. While they were working on the Walking Dead Season 2, they also were doing The Wolf Among Us, and now they are also doing Game of Thrones and Borderlands. I wonder if that's the reason for the drop in time length and quality. I hope they can focus on what made them successful in the first place. The Walking Dead
Um, it's in the OP.
AMEN
Well, I thought the same. I mean I didn't even expect that Telltale could create a finale which would make me cry or hit me right in the feels and they did it again so I think you're right - it might depend on expectations.
I think the reason for dropped quality might have been due to multiple games, but I'm glad that TWAU was fantastic.
I never said it wasnt a good read, i agree with a lot of what hes saying (just like you do) but i disagree with a lot also and no i dont intend to start a flame war. Though he never directly says he didnt like it he called it several words that are simliar to not liking it.
Trust me ive never started a flame war, i love being reasonable with other users and trying to find out their reason in a peaceful, proper manner. My intent was J Master would have enjoyed Season two more if he/she didnt only point out cons in other threads..
The entire cabin group was wasted potential. They were all slaughtered before they had a chance to grow as characters, maybe except for Rebecca. Season 2 is full of unnecessary and pointless deaths.
Yeah, they also promised a lot in Season two that never really happened.
I thought Nick had time to grow as a character, but he just wasn't allowed to grow to his full potential after his optional death in episode 2.
It was kind of a rhetorical question, sorry if it didnt come off as rhetorical.
Well it was the first time the game had character i could really identify with. Same reason why i like Jane more than Kenny. Cant hate characters who are very similar to myself.
I love Jane. She's superb written. Never liked Molly, though, she was too clichéd IMO.
Agreed loved this game and I expected what telltale did in the first season, make a good story on its own or as a continuation.
I just finished playing S1 and S2 again. All I can say is: S1 is better. ''No Going Back'' carried this season higher. Maybe I expected so many things from this season. Maybe I shouldn't expected that. Just like @aldimon I would've just let it all out and play the game. I don't know. One thing I really didn't like about S2 is S1 choices didn't mattered enough. Sure, you can find in some dialouge options or sometimes characters mentoining but that's it. Nothing more. I was expecting depending on how we played as Lee, Clementine's characteristic personality changes. It would be awesome. That #MyClementine thing would make sense. Another thing I didn't like about is that Clementine spend 2 years with Christa. As Lee I spend max. 4 months with Clementine. SPOILER ALERT Maybe she's gonna spend a year or two with Kenny or Jane. That makes me feel like all of the things I've done as Lee for Clem is useless. 4 Months is nothing comparing with 2 years. Choices don't matter from EP1 to EP4 in S2. SPOILER ALERT Even in ''No Going Back'' if you tried to help Luke or covering him, he ends up dying no matter what. No matter how you treated Arvo, he still shoots you. Not just S2 had these choice problems S1 had these too. But at least in S1 even the little choices mattered more along with the big ones.
Maybe I am acting like a dramatic shitbird here. I'm sorry if it feels like that. Other than that story was good. It could've been better. I hope Telltale will make my mouth shut like forever and gives us the season we deserve.
That's because the beginning of a zombie apocalypse is the best part. For the game and show
The comic book got a lot better after the time skip.
Well to be honest, only people like Molly would survive there that long, so everyone "not Molly" would be dead.
Yeah, but people like Molly wouldn't exist in the real world. She was always too 'videogame-y' for me, while Jane was really believable.
Oh god, I really like Jane. She is such a great, rich character.
I have never read the comic. But that's nice to hear
The comic might be the best out of all three IMO. But it's a close head-to-head race with the game. I'm probably invested more in the comics, though.
I totally agree with the OP... S2 left me underwhelmed, its not just that it wasn't as good as S1, but the quality and depth and the emersion just wasn't there...
The missed opportunities was huge, the story was a mess, I never felt consumed by the story and the characters never really drawn me in... the ending was the best bit because I didnt thjnk we would get such an ending after such a poor season, it just was wasn't there this season IMO... hears hoping S3 wakes up a bit and does what we all know it can.....
I disagree. I thought Telltale did a really good job with this season. To me this is one of those sequels that manage to be almost if not just as good as the first one.
I agree with everything. Not that Season 2 was horrible, just underwhelming. Imo, only Ep. 5 was close to being as good as Season 1 was. I just hope they learn from their mistakes this time around and make Season 3 better.
Why would it be weird to see efficient survivors alive? After everyone else dies, there are only people like Molly alive.
Yeah, but I don't think people like Molly exist. The whole character is completely unrealistic IMO:
Could you maybe explain more clearly? Because right now it has kinda sexist sound to it
Nah, it's not supposed to though.
This cool freeclimbing looked unrealistic. She has named her weapon, which I found a little bit embarrassing. She's too cool for me to really think of her as a human character with feelingI thought of her more as 'MOLLY (TM)'. But it doesn't matter here wether she's female or not, don't get me wrong. A male character with the same traits would be just as boring.
