    This is The Walking Dead! People die independent of development.

  • I was pretty broken up about Doug's death. No one else seemed to be though.

  • I did ;_ ;

    Doug, although I didnt save him was awesome. Died saving Ben.

    RIP in peace Doug.

    And yet nobody cared for poor little Doug.

    Luke was a pretty cool guy.

    I've almost cried when Luke died, and yes he was my favorite character after Clem and i wanted him to stay alive to the end but yeah, on the end of the day...

    This is my face when smartass trolls comment on my thread:

  • She's determinant, in other words, dead. Every character that's been determinant dies eventually. Did you choose Carley over Doug? Too bad, she dies two episodes later. Did you lift Ben at the bell tower? Oh well, he dies in the same episode, same with Sarah. Determinant characters ALWAYS die.

    All right...first real comment on the forums...here we go.
    I felt like Luke's death was not necessary, and because of how the story was at that point, it was not handled properly either. When you think about it, it doesn't make too much sense to begin with because the death could have been avoided easily. If ice is breaking underneath you, you get on your belly and crawl. He should have slid his AK away and crawled. Beyond that, he died really fast once in the water, just a few seconds more than Clementine (Given she breaks the ice) if I remember correctly. The death felt rushed and it was only used for a plot point. The "glue" of the group had been lost. There was no one who even seemed to care, because no one in the group really cared about him, save Clementine. Only us. The entire cabin group was dead at that point, so the effects of his death were drastically reduced. Bonnie is the only one who knew him long, and all we get from her is angry insults at a little girl at worst, and the option to smoke at best. It felt so weak, not like Katjaa and Duck, that scene was very emotional for me. It felt like Carley's death in Episode 1 for me. Rushed and easy to move on from. It should not have been like that after 5 episodes of knowing him.

    Luke's death was immediately overshadowed though by the plot point of Kenny and Arvo. Kenny starts doing questionable things again, can you trust him? Luke's death became completely irrelevant. The only emotions I felt could be summed up in Vernon's statement back in Season 1.

    "I don't feel much. I mean, I don't feel enough. Shouldn't I be broken up over what happened to her? That's how I was when I lost my daughter, when I lost my friends in those first few weeks... but now... it's like I just take something like this in stride. Like, this is what our world is now, and we'd better just get used to it."

  • These threads have been around ever since the first episode of season 1. Get used to it.

    That means that the writers created such a poor death that you literally lost faith in them and didn't expect any better from them. That's sad....

  • Actually, it just so happens that she IS. Cover Luke and Bonnie and don't break the ice. She dies along with Luke. So she is, by definition, a determinant character.

    She's not determinant is she?

  • If you cover Luke and don't break the ice she dies.
