Would you recommend the TV series?
The Walking Dead Game introduced me to the Walking Dead universe and I haven't read the comics or watched the TV show yet. Would you recommend the TV show? It seems really popular so I'm wondering if I'm missing out.

Not particularly, no.
You'll probably enjoy the first season. Whether you still enjoy it after that seems to vary very much from person to person. I didn't. Not much, anyway.
Idk, some people have told me I should see it but I haven't Yet
Watch the first season and the first season only.
The rest is kinda garbage.
Its not THAT bad, its just kinda slow.
I definitely recommend it!!!! It'll help you cope with the wait for season 3 of the game.
I really enjoyed the show. It's going slow now but it's still really good. Something you can enjoy with family or friends or even us the community
Still, the game is way better than the show in my honest opinion.
imo your not missing much, at least not anymore. But that's just me. The Governor (villain of season 3) made me lose faith in the show/comic. Because having an ongoing human villain in a zombie apocalypse story really turns me off. That's why I love Carver and David (Last of Us) so much, they're villains that only have a small role in the story. Where as people like The Governor and Negan aren't as interesting cause they have way too much screen time. Basically: Game>Show>Comic>Survival Instinct.
It's gonna be a painful wait indeed.
What your comment should read is Game>Show>Comic>Anything Else>Steaming Pile of Shit>Survival Instinct.
You're probably not going to get a lot of yes answers on this forum, there is bias toward the game of course, but I definitely recommend you at least try it. If you have Netflix, you can watch all four seasons for free on streaming. Ive been a fan from the beginning of the series and I can tell you that IMO, it's been good all the way through, not a mess like some posters think.
Nah. I'd recomend the comic though.
I highly reccomend both I am 18 and a huge fan just can't get enought
Tv series - 9/10
Comics - 8/10
PS. Telltale TWD should stay top priority not borderlands & telltale+Skybound should bring out
merchandise.i own all tv and comic merch and would buy telltale twd in a heartbeat
Watch the tv series before the comics to save some spoilers!
Im glad theyre branching out with Borderlands and GOT. Im ready to move on from TWD for awhile.
yea i would say its worth the watch if you like the series but i would recommend you read the comics instead
Why cant he do both? You can be a fan of all three mediums, just like I am.
I am a regular watcher of the tv show, love it!
where did i say he couldn't like both? i like both i'm just saying if he has to pick one first pick the comic first
Read the comic, the TV show is not that good but give it a try.
You said he should read the comics instead. Im saying he can read the comics and watch the show at the same time, if he wants.
Absolutely.
The TV series is ALRIGHT. the comic's is ALRIGHT. the game is THE BEST. but definitely worth watching and reading if you want to know someone elses story in the TWD universes and besides....what else are you gonna do to wait for Season 3 of the game? and atleast you don't have to wait for Season 2,3 and 4 of the TV series...it got so annoying waiting episode by episode.
I enjoy watching it, it's one of the only shows i watch on TV anymore.
Some would say they love it. Others would say it's the worst show ever. Only you can decide if you like it.
yes. I really like the show but I don't think is the greatest ever but is still good. imo the game has surpassed everything kirkman has done in the WD universe. but it is just for entertainment not getting the whole gist we get from the game.
honestly I don't even find myself excited for this s5 like I have others, I think they are more than likely waste their time with the hunters story arc, which imo should last at the most 3 episodes.
Definitely. Just because the TV show isn't as good as the game doesn't mean it's bad. Don't expect anything as good as the game when going into it however. If you have too high of expectations, you'll probably end up disappointed. Instead, go in with an open mind and you'll surely enjoy it (The first Season at least). The first season is great (Except for the CDC bullshit. I was never a fan of that. They should have just stuck with the comics instead of going to the CDC).
Season 2 is pretty boring, and this is coming from a fan. Well, the first have is. Once you get past the twist in the middle of the season, then things begin to pick up and get interesting. Then the real action and intense moments really start hitting when Season 3 arrives and it doesn't let up until about the middle of the season. The second half of Season 3 isn't boring, it's just not as good as the first half, and expect the same from Season 4.
First half of Season 4 was great, second half was just all over the damn place. Season 5 looks promising though, but I won't expect too much because of what happened with the previous two seasons. Still, I would recommend it to anybody who loves zombies, loves gore, loves action, many twists, unexpected moments, etc. It's an all around good show to get yourself engaged in. If I had to pick my favorite season, that would actually be tough to answer considering just about every season was half good, half meh. The best "half of a season" would definitely be the first half of Season 4 IMO.
I love Twd, and all the new seasons, but it all really depends on what you find entertaining in a show.
Its not as great as the game but its good. I would recomend it.
I just recently started watching the show. It's pretty good so I recommend it! It's a bit slow at times but watching season five will help with the wait for season three of the game. Since it's an extremely popular show, it's also fun to discuss it with other people.
Yeah though season 2 and 3 takes some getting through for different reasons
I would say that it's worth watching. But despite that recommendation, I have to warn you that later seasons can occasionally be bit boring. Season 1 was great and to this date it's the best season of the series. Season 2 is very slow and has way too much soapy love triangle drama for my liking. Seasons 3 and 4 were all right, but not as spectacular as Season 1. These seasons also have some episodes where nothing really happens, but situation isn't as bad as it was in Season 2.

Season 1
Season 2
Season 3
Season 4
i recommend the first season, after that it only goes down
The first season was only six episodes. I enjoyed it too but I don't see what was so amazing about it that the rest of the series can't compete. I thought it was a great beginning. It roped me into the show for sure, but we got so much more as the show went on.
You can't go wrong with Season 1, I haven't heard a bad complaint about it yet.
Season 2 - Bit slow depending on some people's opinion, it does pick up pace and is enjoyable to watch in mine.
Season 3 - Good, I loved the Governor and David Morrissey's take on him. Good balance between action and character development.
Season 4 - Like S2, it builds up pace until half-way through. The last half concentrates more on character development, but still enjoyable once you know the characters. As a whole, this is a very good Season and is building up to a seemingly better S5.
Yes for sure. A lot of people give it some hate but idk why because it is an AMAZING show. You can catch up on all four seasons on Netflix atm before season 5 airs on October 12th.
Of course, it's all subjective but in my opinion Season 1 was the absolute best of the series. I don't like how they use so many filler episodes to get to the finale though in the other Seasons. I also don't like how they seem to use deaths just to flll a "death quota." Some episodes they kill off random people who they introduced in the same episode.
Season 1 (6 ep.): Balances between the fast breakneck action and slow parts very well in a way that is very interesting and does a great job drawing the viewer in. Good dynamic between characters.
Season 2 (16 ep.) : Incredibly slow and stupid writing that makes no sense. Inconsistent character screen time and too many debates repeated about things that have no impact.
Season 3 (16 ep.) : Gets a little better from here on out. Questionable judgement used by some characters. The Governor is severely converted to someone much tamer than his comic counterpart.
Season 4 (16 ep) : It's better than Season 2. Group gets separated which leads to some nice tense moments between characters.
It seems to me that the writers have trouble with "filler episodes" and they love to use them to take up space between the mid season finale and the season finale. You won't enjoy it as much as the game because of the lousy character development early on, but it's an okay show if you can get over Season 2.
To simplify, if you can handle unnecessary drama blatantly used to draw in certain demographics you will probably enjoy the show.

If you wanna get a detailed review, why you should stop watching the TV show after Season1 is over, watch this videos.
That being said, in my opinion Season1 was very good.
The first Season is good, the rest is pretty much garbage.
