I dont see how many people did like it. Its really just Rick wandering around with a freak show expression, I wont give away more because somebody is asking if we recommend it or not, but yeah, nothing really happened.
I like the show and the comics both. As far as the show goes:
Season 1: Awesome.
Season 2: The first few episodes are good, and then the… morere's a long stretch with a lot of personal arguments and not much action.
Season 3: Things get moving again and there are some really good episodes like "Clear."
Season 4: Both halves are pretty good, but for me the second half was the best because it mixed things up in terms of what "the group" consisted of, and also did a lot of excellent character development. My two favorites are "Still" and "The Grove."
I've enjoyed it most when I didn't pay attention to fan hate. Fan hate only makes sense when you agree with it. All seasons have some really good acting. I do have to mention, Andrew Lincoln's American accent needs a lot of work and so does whatsername's who plays Maggie. They should have studied with David Morrisey who plays the Governor (he's a Brit too, but I like his Elvis-meets-Clint Eastwoo… [view original content]
People liked it because it followed the first issue of the comic almost to the letter. I certainly wouldn't say nothing happened but if you expect action every minute, I guess you would be disappointed. A lot of people seem to expect that when the hear 'zombies', or at least they did when the show first started.

It wasnt even that there wasnt action, I really liked all of S2 because of the character relations that grew. Just nothing happened, Rick walks around, then he travels a bit, a glimpse of exposition on Shane and Lori. I guess the comic coming to light is kind of neat, but it still made for a boring episode

I could tell right away, and unfortunately once I noticed it, the way they say certain words drives me crazy (for Andrew Lincoln it's "Carl.") No problem with their acting, they're all great, and of course some Brits do fine on American accents--like I said, David Morrissey's accent is a pretty good Mississippi, like a mean version of Elvis. For comparison, Scott Wilson (Hershel) is actually from Georgia so his accent is the real deal.
Its a good thing you werent around when the show first started. Season 1 was taking a lot of lumps, believe me. I spent a lot of time defending it on the message boards but I stuck with it because I knew it was a good show with a lot of potential.

because the comics were finally coming to life. they could deal with a couple of lame episodes to get to the epic shit
Their accents sound good to me. I didn't know either of them were British until I heard them in interviews.

I liked it. Good show, if you can survive season 2. If I had to rate them I would say....
Season 1
Season 4
Season 3
Season 2

I only got into the TV show last summer actually, but reading reviews I actually didn't read a bad one about Season 1.
The first season I watched was Season 4, so thanks to that I was hooked.
