Question on rendering technique
Hey everybody,
I am a student in the last semester of my bachelor. Currently, I am writing my bachelor thesis about the game "The Wolf Among Us", which I totally love and respect.
I am not sure if you can help me answer the question but it would mean a lot to me. I am studying Digital Media, so I have also an eye on computer graphics, since the game is a great example
Now to my question: Based on an example scene it would be great to know what is prerendered and what is rendered in real time. So what is drawn on and what is rendered. And of course in a thesis, how does it work. Not in detail if you can't, the general information for this example would be just great.
It would be a great help if you could answer me as fast as possible.
Thank you in advance!

I guess you should ask devs themselves, as they know the true answer to your question.
I don't know TTG engine very well, but I can guess that most of character models, props and textures are being pre-rendered alongside the precached animations, while lighting, shadows, sounds (including music, since it's volume can increase/decrease) and camera animations are being rendered in real time. It's just my theory based on experience with different game engines, I might be wrong tho.
I have a theory about that, but I don't want to misinform you, since I'm not very versed in computer graphics. You should ask @javoris767, he's got lots of experience in that kind of things.
I am only a volunteer moderator and not a Telltale Staff member so I don't know how they handle this; however, I can try to point you in the right direction. A while back, I found a cool YouTube video where somebody uses 3DS Max to create their own 3D render in the Wolf Among Us artstyle. I stumbled upon this while trying to find the answer to your question on my own, as I was messing around in Source Filmmaker trying to see if I could recreate something like Wolf's art style in that program.

Thanks anyway for the theory
I wrote them a few times but I did not get any answers. Not even that they won't answer. But I go with the theory and with the answers of the others.
Thank you
I try my best.
