  • Explain to me how the Camera Man who had no contact with Ebola Patients, got the disease... According to the CDC he got it from washing a car.

Why would a freelance Camera Man wash a car?
    He wouldn't.

  • Same with H1N1 awhile back. Any disease that isn't a norm is terrifying destruction in the making, or so says the media. It's ludicrous. I'm more worried about the diseases I face day to day, or over the course of a few virulent months. Or cancer, or being shot, or a car accident. Ebola doesn't even make it on my list.

  • Your viewpoint will change if this disease loses containment, and is rampant in America, I am sure. Right now it is isolated to a few places. Who knows what the situation will be in six months. The CDC should of been taking this more seriously and blocking all flights from those countries.

  • H1N1 is not Ebola.

Its the flu, not a deadly African disease with a mortality rate between 50-90%. Its not a big deal. I'm sure those Blue trash bags the doctor's are wearing are just Halloween costumes, its the season right....

Because they are comparable. They are both over-hyped diseases. People will die from both. A lot of people? No. More than people who die from cancer? No. More than people dead from murder? No. It will come, it will go. I may die from it, I may die from slipping on the ice. But I'm not worried about either of them.

  • It's 25-90%. 50% with better care (Murcia'). 1500+ Ebola outbreaks have been documented since the mid 1970's. The world hasn't ended yet (not even close). It isn't airborne. And it isn't very easy to contract.

PS: These forums do have issues. I can't hold a conversation with anyone anymore :p

  • As someone who lives in Texas, and more specifically in the Dallas - Fort Worth area where the first 'confirmed' case was, the man is already dead but they've quarantined a LOT of people he came into contact with.

My family and I already stockpiling food and water, my family is coming up with a real plan though in case it comes to martial law/full on outbreak. We have a designated place where we will ride this out and possible stay if things never go back to normal. So, really, yeah, even if nothing comes out of this, I think people really need to think about being ready for the worst case scenario. I'd rather be prepared and nothing happen then have nothing ready and it literally all goes to shit.

  • I think people really need to think about being ready for the worst case scenario

What is everyone thinking in Dallas right now? How is the mood. I heard there was another suspicious case in another town north of Dallas, of another man who may have Ebola. Stay safe.

  • * everyone thinks it's ebola but secretly, it's becoming a mutation and changes the symptoms, and structure of the virus and will eventually be the start of the 'zombie apocalypse'. *

What would you do in this unlikely scenario? Do you think mankind has enough knowledge to survive this? or will they decide to nuke the countries that are infected before the virus is becoming a global pandemic?

  • I agree to an extent. Sometimes, the best defense is a good offense.

  • They thought an officer whom first came into contact with Duncan (patient zero) had Ebola too. It was at a Care Now in Frisco, and they took him to the hospital, today results came up negative for Ebola so as of right now, there is no one else whom the media is overtly confirming with Ebola. However, the list of people they're quarantined is rising every day, so, I'm thinking we'll be hearing about a lot more scares and confirmed cases throughout the month.

I live in the general Dallas - Fort Worth area, but still pretty far from Dallas and Frisco. So, I feel fine right now. It's not like we're all clamoring around the place freaking out, I know I'm just being more careful about washing my hands and not touching everything. So, things are pretty normal. People need to remember though, we have all these health scares all the time. H1N1, SARS, etc. So, really, I don't know how bad this is going to get, but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

And in all honesty, I have a friend whom is from TX but is living in North Carolina right now, and she posts more shit about it than any of my TX friends on facebook. Not only that, a lot of my friends are EMT's or work in the health care system, and most of them haven't mentioned a word about it, and those who have are saying people are dying because the health care in Africa is simply awful. So, I'm not worried so much about getting it, more about when the government steps in and starts taking on martial law.

And thanks man! I appreciate it. :)

  • People are seriously downplaying the threat of Ebola, and i understand why. (not to cause a panic) I just feel like people should know that this is a dangerous deadly disease, that hasn't been researched so we don't really know much about it. They have no known effective treatment for this disease. They don't really know how it is being transferred, yet we aren't supposed to worry when the CDC/Obama doesn't stop flights from these epidemic countries.

The mortality rate is between 50 to 90 %.

  • Obama needs to stop flights in and out of the country immediately. We need to isolate it, and we need to get medical researchers/professionals on this crap immediately. It's only going to get worse before it gets better. I remember one of my professors and I were talking about it back in August, and he said it was never gonna get over here and it was so isolated blah blah blah. Now look, it's in our state. -__-

So yeah, I know people are downplaying it to not cause total societal collapse and panic, but, so much crap is going around about it. I've seen some alarmists posting articles about this particular Ebola strain being a bioweapon that is being employed by the US to begin a global population control project. And that it's already got a cure and blah blah blah.

All I know, is that my family and I have a property we can live on way far away from all this shit, and we can be fine, as long as no one gets it in our group. We're really starting to crack down on our plan, but I know we're all kinda in denial still.

And yeah, I've seen that. One of my EMT friends said the mortality rate was so high because by the time people realized they had it, it was too late. If they get treated immediately, they have greater chances of surviving, but if they wait like this Duncan man did, they're going to die. It only took a week I believe since his admission to the hospital and he was gone.

  • Supporters / researchers from the Netherlands were in Africa and we thought they were infected with Ebola, they released them no containment / quarantine and with no confirmation that they were infected with ebola. They later showed symtoms of ebola but now they say its malaria. Just imagine that every country is not isolated and is dumb just like this. If they were infected with ebola they would've infected more people in the Netherlands and it would've became a pandemic!

Obama needs to stop flights in and out of the country immediately. We need to isolate it, and we need to get medical researchers/professiona

  • I'm pretty sure that shit will hit the fan anytime soon. Either a virus, or world war 3. maybe both.

Okay, thats a little outrageous to claim will happen because of a disease.

I'm pretty sure that shit will hit the fan anytime soon. Either a virus, or world war 3. maybe both.

  • Did you hear Duncan's family is blaming America, that he died. This shit blows my mind. This guy comes over with a deadly disease to America, lies to get in the country, possibly starts a Epidemic in America, and now his family is trying to turn this into a race issue, trying to say all the "white people" survived, but he died. WTF

    I nearly flipped my lid.

I'd stock up on beans. Lots of them.
