Am I the only one who thinks Telltale should just only focus on The Walking Dead and Wolf Among Us?

I can't get into Borderlands or Game of Thrones I tried but I can't. I also can't imagine how they would make Borderlands work as a point and click adventure with a gripping story. I really don't like the new art style of The Game of Thrones it looks off to me for some reason. Does anyone else feels the same?

  • You aren't the only one that wants this, but I find this view pretty bad. Telltale isn't an only this or that company, I find it great that they're branching out to universes as unique as Borderlands and Game of Thrones, and we shouldn't judge a game before it's out yet, people did the same thing with TWD and TWAU and look how they turned out.

  • I like them branching out, but all I want from them is TWAU right now.

  • Not really, I get a feeling that TWD will get old in one or two more Seasons, specially if they keep killing everyone off, I would love a new TWAU Season though but I really like their style of games so I really love that they are doing more different stories in that style, I'm pretty sure I'm probably not going to like every game they make but I appreciate the variety.

  • Do we have any news on season 2 of the wolf among us

  • I would Love that, But i wanna see how TFTBL goes, It looks awesome.

you are not the only one but this is a pretty bad opinion if i am completely honest if they stuck to one or two games people would just accuse them of milking and what happens when they have nothing left to do with both of them? it's good that they are branching out

  • Yes, you're the only one.

You personally not being able to "get into" TFTB and GOT in no way means they shouldn't do them.

  • I don't mind them branching out. I think its good for the company. Although I won't play the game of thrones game I will play the borderlands.

May as well give it ago. If they get more games that means more money which means bigger teams which means they can pump out games faster to a higher quality. Its all positive when you think about it

  • I like that they're barnching out but I think TWD and TWAU should be their priority.

  • Your not the only one but I dont agree, theres nothing worse than being a one trick pony, once the two new series come out people will say the same thing about only doing them

  • While that would be nice, they can't just focus on two games, companies need to be able to expand and branch out, that's how they get new customers. A fan of GOT will play their game, and if they like it, will try their other games like TWD and TWAU. That's how businesses work, and at the end of the day, Telltale is still a business.

  • I think the releases should go as so: 2014 GOT, TFTB, DLC for TWAU and TWD; 2015 TWD, new ip; 2016 new ip, new ip. 2017 TWDS4 etc.

  • I think board lands will be a bust, but i think GOT will be a gold mine. We will have to see.

TTG just needs to hire more people.

  • Eh, I think it's good that they're trying to reach a wider audience. I'm not interested in Borderlands or GoT myself, though.

  • You're not the only one who wants this, and as cool as it would be to see Telltale just punch out Walking Dead and Wolf, its not smart and in the long run not good for them. Borderlands and Game of Thrones are potential gold mines for Telltale to really expand their company.

So, it would be cool for about three years then it would be a bust. They need to keep growing as a company and they need to keep developing more games with different genres.

  • I actually think the opposite, after watching the trailer for it, Borderlands actually looks really good and Game of Thrones seems like a bust, but both of these games will definitely be a huge source of revenue for Telltale and will allow them to expand and hire new people.

  • TBH i just want TWAU, and S3 eventually.

Now if Telltale wanted to do a game with Miku as the star. I could support that.

Tbh, I feel the exact same way. Neither TFBL, nor GoT get me excited that much, probably because I've never been so familiar with these franchises. I'm surely going to give them both a chance though, I would probably love them too, because, you know how Telltale work. But, nevertheless, what I'm really dying for is a sequel for The Wolf Among Us. TWAU Season 2 has already become something legendary for me, so to say, kinda like HL3. You don't know pretty much anything about it, but you can't help just sitting there and waiting for it with hope in your heart.

Yet I like the idea of company expansion stated by some users here. With these new projects being started the fanbase will only keep growing, which means more funding for the company. If they have enough people to work on multiple products at the same time without one of them overshadowing the other, then I see no reason why they can't continue making what we all loved once and making it great.

  • I do like them branching out, but not exactly in the way they are. Working off highly successful franchises is a good way to gain a fanbase and money, but I'd like Telltale to start creating their own storylines in their own worlds instead!

  • That would be...Interesting....

  • Coming from someone who would kill for a second Season of Wolf Among Us, I'd say that a part of Telltale's strong suit comes in the diversity of the source material they work. A lot of people here nowadays know Telltale because of their superb work on Walking Dead, a game that mostly touches upon interpersonal drama and relationships.

However, in a lot of Telltale's older titles - and Wolf Among Us as well - they chose to work with franchises that not only had a set up for strong character relationships, but also a unique premise. I'm not saying that as a dig against Walking Dead - and I do love me some Walking Dead - but, rather, I'm pointing out that Telltale's titles typically excel when they pick a franchise that has captivating characters and a captivating premise or atmosphere that stands out on its own as opposed to acting solely as a a vehicle or a foil for character interactions. Game of Thrones and Borderlands, much like Wolf Among Us, have a unique premise, whereas Walking Dead focuses more exclusively on character interactions.

Walking Dead and Wolf Among Us are both great games, but as you all will hopefully see with Borderlands and Game of Thrones, Telltale isn't a one trick pony when it comes to writing. Back when Wolf Among Us was announced, people hated the thought of another game having the nerve to share the spotlight with Walking Dead. However, when the writing came out, people were impressed with the quality and they even managed to humor acquainting themselves with oddities such as Fables, Glamours, Fabletown, etc.

Borderlands may be an exception as not everyone is into meme-based humor, but with Game of Thrones and other future Telltale titles (yes, even comedy titles), I think Telltale will continue to impress people just as they did with Wolf Among Us.

  • I think it's good that Telltale is willing to branch out and make games from other franchises, but at the same time I wished they would put their focus on The Walking Dead and especially The Wolf Among Us, considering that cliffhanger and unanswered questions in the plot. We all know that Telltale's gonna make a Season Three for TWD (though we don't know when it's coming out), but I want them to make a Season Two of TWAU.

  • Yes, I agree. Th older TTG, Jurassic Park and Back To The Future, were each unique in the world of games.

  • Guess what people said before 'The Walking Dead' came out?

'I just can't get into this, I will pass this time.'

    Then 'The Wolf Among Us':

'What, nobody likes Fables, Telltale should stick to TWD bla bla bla...'

    Now it is:

'What, I can't get into Borderlands or GoT, Telltale should stick to TWD and TWAU bla bla bla...'

    In three years, it'll be:

'What, I can't get into [placeholder], why doesn't Telltale stick to GoT???'

    People will never be pleased.

  • Game of thrones is going to get that Television Crowd. Its going to be huge, i'm not a fan of the show or the series, but i got friends that don't even play video games that tell me their getting this game day 1.
