Conspiracy Theories: Thoughts

Yeah...conspiracy theories, you're either for them or against them, do they make things better or do they make things worse? Do they get rid of problems or make new ones? Some of them are really stupid, some of them are really smart, where do I stand?

I mostly try to avoid them like the plague, not because all of them are bad per say, it's just a constant amount of arguing from both sides and being involved in that kind of discussion isn't really for me, especially when you kind of don't like the notion of being lied to your entire life on one side and things get personal and ugly. Ex: 9/11, the disaster that changed America. Was it actually Osama Bin laden and his evil gang of terrorists? Or was it an inside job by the president in order to get more oil and Osama Bin Laden was just a boogieman? Or are some folks over thinking this entire thing and it actually was terrorists? I don't have definitive answer, and it may take a couple years until it gets figured out officially.

What are your personal thoughts on conspiracy theories as a whole?

Comments

  • Some make sense but most are just a bunch of crazy people being crazy.

  • I try avoiding discussing conspiracy theories, but there's some theories I believe could be true.

    Like Planet X.

  • I think their stupid as Hell, and it upsets me when people see the theories as complete fact. More so when the conspiracy has been proven false, and they still believe it. I can understand believing in some of the more convincing theories, but I've seen people who think the Holocaust was created in Hollywood, and who think the Sandy Hook shootings didn't actually happen.

I generally try to stay out of it.

  • I hate conspiracy theories that actually undermine or pervert real-world events like the Holocaust and 9/11 ones.

I like the alien ones because it's generally just harmless kookiness and there's actually some weird, unexplained aspects to them that are interesting.

  • I don't generally care about them because a lot of them are far fetched but there's a few that do make sense or that weren't explained by the government.

  • well there is the 9/11 one where the official report doesnt make sense. also there wasnt a plane near the WTC 7 yet it fell like the others. also how can they fall like that like if it was demolition? both. but again the rest idk. but also remember a lot of past theories that were "conspiracy theories" turned out to be true. MLK ultra and others

  • Most are pure nonsense, but I doubt Oswald shot JFK.

  • Most are complete ludicrous crap. Most of them fail to point out what the government would gain from pulling off all of these conspiracies.

  • I don't believe in most of them, though i think there's a lot of secrets in the world, (But cow's are obviously evil, they're trying to conquer the world)

  • Nobody 'likes' conspiracy theories; they believe them or they don't. (Well, I do get a little chuckle over the bullshit people come up with).

Although, in all seriousness, calling something a conspiracy theory has been used as a means of marginalizing legitimate and dissenting opinions (or even simple inquiry).

Well as a avid historian i always wanted to know about our past. People say that human civilization started about 6,000 years ago. I simply don't buy that, i believe there was civilizations as far back as 100,000 years ago based on some evidence, possibly longer. the US Government isn't always truthful of what it knows. I watched this video where they were talking about all these unexplained images on the moon, "alien", in my mind its totally possible that humans could of built some sort of society on the moon and it crumbled, and now the USA government is doctoring pictures to hide evidence.

The USA wants to keep the technology for themselves, at least that is what i believe.

  • About the aliens, the US government is doing the right thing by hiding them if it's true. Existence of a technologically superior sentient life form would cause worldwide panic. Ebola causes a ton of panic and it hasn't caused a severe outbreak in the US. Now multiply that to the levels of a zombie apocalypse happening. It would cause riots, looting, deaths.

  • I have no idea about the aliens, or anything about that. I do however keep a open mind. If there was a advanced human civilization on the moon it would be the #1 find in our lifetimes.

  • I don't know, I'd think cloning an extinct animal would be bigger. The Wooly Mammoth would probably be it.

This has already been done. They know how to do it

Advanced humans from the distant past? Maybe. From the moon? Unlikely. There is no real signs that it was ever capable of supporting life. Also if we were advanced in the past, what happened? Why did we go back to the stone age? Oh yeah... Global warming... The hippies won.

  • I mean like the animal actually survives beyond birth and has been extinct for like 10,000 years. So dinosaurs and co as well.
