Any games like TTG?

edited May 2014 in General Chat
Sup guys, this is my first post here but i've been lurking ever since S2 was announced.

Anyways, into the post, does anyone knows any other game similar to this? And with this I mean where you have a lot of decisions and some of them actually matter to the story instead of just changing the dialogue a little bit during that cutscene. I don't even mind if the game mechanics are kinda different, say, idk, an rpg or something.

Thanks, in advance, and let's hope E3 comes out soon!

  • The Wolf Among Us, Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls, The Last of Us.
  • Mass Effect series.
  • Jurassic park the game, but the story dont change alot. You get to make a big chopice at the end i guess, its fun but i can never get all the through a second play for some reason.
  • Hmm, try some of David Cages games, like Heavy Rain or Beyond two souls, in my opinion very good games.
  • 'The Last Of Us'?

Why? There are no choices at all
    With the rest, I agree
    Haven't played Beyond though (yet)

  • You should try it, I had very fun playing it, only downside for me was the way they chose to play the timeline. Other than that, a very good game.

  • Jurassic Park, in my opinion, is pretty much a very early version of Walking Dead. Instead of making choices and having consequences, you mostly just solve easy puzzles and use (slightly more elaborate) Quick Time Events like you already do in Walking Dead and Wolf Among Us.

  • Telltale's earlier games belong in the "adventure game" genre. But I'm guessing you're talking about Telltale's recent interactive movies. Quantic Dream's "Indigo Prophecy/Fahrenheit", "Heavy Rain" and "Beyond Two Souls" are exactly like this just with much worse writing.

If you're looking for games with choices, the genre you want is RPGs like Mass Effect, Star Wars: KOTOR, Jade Empire, The Witcher, Dragon Age, Fable etc.

If you want actual adventure games which are linear (no choices) and (unlike Telltale's recent games) actually require you to use your brain to solve puzzles then try Sam & Max, Monkey Island, Back to the Future, Syberia, Discworld, Broken Sword etc.
  • Dragon Age: Origins if you're into medieval fantasy. Not the second one though. The second one sucks.
  • I highly recommend playing Heavy Rain and Mass Effect. These games are really good at telling a story and changing the experience depending on what choices you make
  • Adding onto more puzzle oriented adventure games, The Dream Machine and The Journey Down are pretty good as well.

As a matter of fact, both series are also episodic just as Telltale's games are.

  • broken age is fun
  • The Witcher does choice and consequence very well, more so than most other games I've seen. Hell, in The Witcher 2 the entire second act of the game can be in an entirely different place surrounded by entirely different people depending on one choice in the previous act.
  • Dragon Age:Origins, The Witcher 1&2(Bear in mind, you may not like the gameplay mechanics of the first game. I recommend watching a few videos before you make up you mind) and Mass Effect should keep you occupied for some time.

I've never played it myself, but as for as point and click, story driven games go how about the PC video game adaptation of Blade Runner?
I've heard it's pretty amazing with its branches and multiple endings. Heck, some things are even randomized the moment you boot up a new game like who's a robot and who's human.

I guess Heavy Rain is decent too if you don't mind the bad acting and a lot unintentional hilarious moments. Beyond Two souls is BAD though, so don't play it!

Deus Ex Human Revolution? How 'bout that. It's a stealth-action-RPG-Cyber Punk-Noire-game thing where player choice actually matters!
  • Beyond Two Souls.... i really like it but I only saw it on youtube, never played it.
  • Yeah, I played it, very often
It IS a great game, but there are no choices, and that's what the OP asked about

You should try it, I had very fun playing it, only downside for me was the way they chose to play the timeline. Other than that, a very good game.

  • I could never get into that game for some reason, though I really wanted to. The combat felt really difficult and cumbersome. On the other hand, That might be because I'm bad at games in general and have the reaction time of a dead cat.

  • For player choice I'd try Dragon Age: Origins and the Mass Effect series.

Spec Ops: The Line was an excellent game with difficult moral choices and a dark, thought-provoking storyline that makes you rethink how video games glorify violence.. It might not be the most fun game, but I believe it definitely deserves to be played.
  • Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 1 and 2! Goddamn, I still wish I had those games.
  • Nancy Drew series. Your dialoges VERY VERY rearly matter though, like people just won't talk to you if you are rude but just for a short time nothing else in the dialogues matter, which is the only thing that bothers me. Until i discovered Tellltale Nancy Drew games were my favorite. But it has a VERY interesting plot, fun game, it is really challening though. It is a mistery game you are a detective.

  • Wolf Among Us is a TTG lmao

  • Mass Effect has those dialogue options and choices, but not near as heavy as the ones in TTG's. I didn't like the series though, I got 3/4 through the first game and I wasn't a big fan

  • Lol, judging from OP's absence on the forums (this is his only post), I'd say he has found something to occupy him in the meantime.

    7 months later, that is.

  • how is the last of us like TTG games?

Beyond 2 Souls i heard is a girl game so i never got it.

    Heavy Rain is great though.

  • Oh btw i also like skyrim, your choices matter but not nearly as in walking dead.

  • It just is, most people compare TLoU to TWDG all the time. And Beyond has choices like TWDG so I had to mention it.

it is nothing like a telltale game at all the only reason people compare is because joel and ellie are basically the same as lee and clem and both are set in the apocalypse other than those two there is nothing in common with ttg and tlou

  • the witcher the choices in that series really do matter in the second game the whole 2nd act can be different based on your choices

  • which one is better?? heawo souls?vy rain or beyond two souls?? i watched the first episode of BTS in pewdiepie channel, btw he's fucking annoying as shit people say miller is annoying this mofo is something else.

  • If you've played TWDG you will most likely like it...

  • Telltalegames is like a tv-show with choices. I love story, but im so tired of demanding combat. Its so tiresome to shoot 1000 monters. So i hope get more games like TTG, that focus on story and choices and no 3dshooter or normal rpg combat like dragon age.

  • Beyond 2 Souls i heard is a girl game so i never got it.

Um... what makes it a girl game?
