If you really want to see what GoT is about, i recommend you to at least watch the series, there'll be a lot of things that you won't understand, the game doesn't really show how wonderful Westeros ( GoT world) is ,(it's still a really good game)

  • After playing the game, I did finally watch a few episodes and to be honest, I just sort of thought it was okay. Nothing special. The world seems to be full of backstabbing scumbags that leaves me (the viewer) cold on any of the characters. I don't particularly think it does have a great story to be honest. It pins everything to a TV soap opera like structure designed to shock and degrade everyone in the show. Violence, sex and flashy things are standard weapons of choice in a Micheal Bay sort of movie and this feels no different.

I enjoyed the first episode of Telltale's GoT for what it is, but I suspect by the end of the series it'll probably be lower down my list of good Telltale's games.

  • I ctually started playing Telltale games because about six months ago i saw that there will be GoT telltale and than i got addicted to Telltale, i loved The Walking Dead, Wolf among us and now Tales from the Borderland. Not much to say about GoT telltale since i didn't like it. I probably had way too high expectations because of te TV show and this was nothing like Game of Thrones to me expect Tyrion and Cercei.

However to answer your question i like it because every other show i watched is a soap opera and everything is predictable. I also like it because it is very similar to the world we live in Today regarding politics, power, money, behaviour and to me it sends a lot of positive messages. Not to mention how interesting it is BUT i must admit i didn't like it at first too, found it boring.I decided to give it another shot and after that i got too addicted to the show that i barely watch movies or other TV shows, just in my spare time when i've got nothing else to do. This is the one and only shw that i have rewatched at least three times. Other than that there is no show where i've watched all the episodes. However i play the game because of Tyrion :)

  • I would love to watch the series, in fact i bought series 1 but can't play it on anything cos of HDCP. Tried putting it in my computer like i do with every other movie and it comes up with some error which relates to HDCP apparantly

    10/10 Its an amazing franchise
and if you like the medieval era you will love it.

  • That's like asking what's so good about Lord of the Rings.

  • One the minus side I think the sex scenes are just ridiculous and could either have been completely cut out or replaced with ordinary dialogue (this goes for both the books and the show) and no one would have noticed. I'm not a big fan of blood/gore but I accept it more than the sex since this is the kind of setting they have and the inspiration (medieval Europe) was full of it. That being said I wouldn't have minded had they implied the violence more than actually showing it.

One the plus side the characters are interesting and most of them (with some notable exceptions) aren't completely black or white. This is the biggest draw for me, though I must also mention I have a weakness for political intrigue and the ability power has to change people. The story manage to throw some unexpected twists around which makes it more interesting. The lore is deep and intriguing and makes the world believable and topics such as monoteism Vs polyteism, the effect of giant walls on society and many others are relevant to the real world.
Finally the visuals, costume, acting and cinematography (of the show) are great.

I really enjoyed the first episode of the game and Telltale's style of interactive movie and story changing choices come to full bloom with Game of Thrones. Apart from the Walking Dead, these are the least clear cut "good" and "bad" choices in gaming I've come across, with a feeling that whatever you do choose the consequences will be dire.

That's like asking what's so good about Lord of the Rings.

  • I'm addicted to it because the setting feels worn and believable. The stories feel organic and deliberate. The characters are varied and well drawn. The show looks great. And importantly I really have almost no luck in predicting what's going to happen. In other stories I can predict them like 90% of the time. Here the story constantly belies my expectations. That moment sunk in when Ned and Jaime had their fight. For that 45 seconds or whatever, I had absolutely no idea what would happen. In any other show I wouldn't have been half as excited during that sequence. And it's been reaffirmed again and again.

The characters have all these hooks to each other and the world. And history is treated like this living things. How many times will you be watching a show, and feel like "Oh even though last season was 3 weeks ago, they almost totally stop referencing important plots from last season because the writers stopped thinking about them, because TV shows are seasonal,"? I notice that all the time, I never ever feel that way with GOT.

I just really really love it.

  • The political intrigue, the moral ambiguity, and interesting characters that I can care deeply about.

  • I don't particularly think it does have a great story to be honest.

I have to agree, the entire show is just shock value and every character that is shown onscreen for more than a second is immediately killed so you can't really get to know them or even like the character. I don't understand the hype around it.

Umm there were a few ( i think 3,4 ) deaths in 4 seasons, i mean the main character, yes a lot of warriros die in battles, fights, wars but those are worries you don't get to meet not even their faces, i guess people die when fighting for the king so yes a lot of people die.

  • It's not just that though. It's written and is exactly like a soap opera. There's no point to any of it and it seems to be going on and on in an aimless manner at an incredible slow pace trying to shock you in whatever way it can. I've basically watched the whole of season 1 now and there's no point to it.

And I can't help but be irritated when someone watches one season, doesn't like it and is like "there is no point to it." • Im one of the persons that does not care about sword fights or sex scenes in the show, I love the political intrigues and philosophies behind the characters. The show is awesome because it sets up certain mythology and then everything that happens is always in line with it, be it trial by combat, arranged weddings, laws that a kings guard must fallow and so on. The show always stays true to the rulles it has established. Moments like those make me love the show (warning spoilers in videos).

    Then you're interpreting it wrong.

Also, you find it irritating when someone doesn't see the point after an entire season? That's slightly odd. Fair enough if it was one episode, but entire season? That's 10 episodes (10 hours) and nothing to make me think about what I've just watched. One scumbag kills another. Boo hoo.

Yes, it has the conflict of a great story, but it lacks any substance and reason for me to care who dies as they're all as bad as each other.

Okay, tell me what point have I missed in season one? Explain to me how or what I have apparently missed?

Also, if you don't see how this is like a soap opera, then I think you might want to look the word up.

This is what puts me off of most of the shows, they have a good season or two because they did writing and everything with the mindset that it might not get popular and will be canceled so if it gets a fallowing they start to layer up stuff, try to make the stakes higher or introduce new characters or backstory that seems out of place and in the end it usually gets just ridiculous. In GoT everything is connected, something that happened in first season might be relevant or referenced in 4th. That is what makes this show/books great.
