Did they discard Christa and the baby because...

They wanted a time skip?

  • I believe they set it up for Kenny Khronicles.

    basically, yeah.

notice how, once kenny is introduced in season 2, you see little to no mention/concern for christa again because kenny's taken over.

gotta love how all those bad things he's said are played off as a joke while other characters will do one thing wrong and they're condemned instantly. :^)

  • A. they wanted to make the room for DLC?

    B. they wanted to bypass the great entry in Clementine's teenagehood?

    C. they drank all the whiskey and thought it would be extra funny?

    Choose wisely.

  • I think they discarded the baby, because it was Telltale's way of showing how shit things have gotten. Even after Omid's death, Christa and Clem having the baby around would prove to be too much for the beginning of the story. Starting alone in a forest, cold, miserable, and hungry has made a great start for Clem to split off from Christa without any other ties to her other than their friendship and no baby to worry about. If the baby was around we probably would have a completely different intro since all the things I've listed would be a poor way to raise a baby (I realize that's how S2 ends, but lets just focus on the beginning).

The time skip felt like a way to separate S1 Clem and S2 Clem. Yes they are still the same person, but for the player it's easier now to get a grip on how you control Clem now and everything she did/experienced in the past is set in stone. You now control this different(new) character that will have her own story.

  • Something tells me Christa was originally meant to have a role similar to Rebecca's in Season 2, but they felt Clementine was too young for the plot they had set up, so they aged Clem up and gave her a whole new pregnant lady to deal with once Christa and her baby were dropped.

Basically yeah, I think they wanted a time-skip.

Instead of giving us more of what happened between Clementine and Christa, they just looked for a quick way to age her up. I would have had a lot less of a problem with this if Clem was actually given a chance to talk about her past in the timeskip with someone, anyone at all, but as far as I know, this never happened. We can only assume things based on small hints, I wish we would have had more of a chance to let Clem open up about it.

That leaves me to assume two things, either Telltale simply didn't come up with what was supposed to happen so they copped out and skipped it, or they are planning to include it in a DLC. I really hope it's the second option.

Probably. But I wish the time skip had happened and that she´d stayed around regardless. Why can´t we have nice things?!

  • I think they wanted to time skip to show how much Clementine has matured.

  • Because they killed Omid and then were like, "Well Iunno what to do with Christa so just get her outta here."

  • Who knows? Maybe we'll get a season 3, or a DLC similar to 400 days, that will give us more insight on the 16 months since the end of season 1

  • They're both angry white men with distinctive mustaches and a loyal fanbase.

    Coincidence?

    I think not!
