In every Room of our time together there is a box,

    Of memories we shared,

Now is the time to pack away,

    With Sadness and with Care.…

    RIP Avatar series.

  • The finale was so beautiful ;-; That was just amazingggg

  • RIP Avatar series.

I think they'll continue making comics for ATLA like they've been doing. But I would love it if Telltale would ever get their hands on this series ;__; that would make my lifetime.

  • I've heard they are only going to finish the library edition for the rift and then release a short novel of sorts and that's it for the ATLA continuation. They said they have nothing but minor stuff for anything even related to the avatar series, so sadly I think this is the end :(

I'm really curious what telltale could do with this universe. The possibilities are bountiful and telltale would have so much to work with. It could be very, very cool.

  • So, I just finished the finale. It was great. But they fucking Nicked Opal. Don't know what I mean? They gave her a grunt, and she did nothing the rest of the 2 episodes. Also, I really don't like what they did with Korra, how she got her ass whooped again by Kuvira, I was hoping they would have actually made her beat Kuviras ass this time. I swear if Telltale doesn't make a series about this game, :/ so many things left open ended. Great episode nonetheless though.

  • I agree about Opal, some of the things at the end of episode 13 I didn't realy like. Korra could easily go in the Avatar state but they wanted to go on so no... I agree TTG do the thing!

Well, at least Opal had plenty of spotlight earlier in the season.

Poor Kai had that one episode at the beginning and that was it. xD

Maybe taking place after Korra when people start to realize they don't need an avatar anymore, LoK practically showed us that the world doesn't really need the avatar anymore, after Korra's deeds that is.

    Mediocre finale.

I swear Mike and Bryan just don't seem to know how to write a mature series well. Legend of Korra is this weird series that keeps saying, 'I'm serious and mature' but when it actually comes to resolving any of its mature conflicts, it uses some of the most juvenile methods ever.

There are numerous examples of this throughout the series but in this Book, no character fell to juvenileness better than Kuvira. She started as a socio-political ideological genius. However these final episodes reduced her into a walking contradiction, someone who's incapable of noticing how much of an advantage sheh as over her opponents and someone with no mature reasoning.

Remember at Wu's coronation? This is what Kuvira claimed her motivation was:

*Kuvira [Now addressing the crowd through the microphone.] Growing up in Zaofu, with Suyin Beifong, [Shot shows Suyin, sporting a distrustful look.] **I learned that the idea of a royal family passing a title from one generation to the next was archaic, and that technology and innovation should be what drives a nation forward. It was the pathetic rule of kings and queens that caused the Earth Kingdom to descend into such incredible disarray. It's taken me three years to get it back on track, and there is no way I will allow it to slip back into the dark ages. **[Shot shows Tenzin and Raiko giving each other a worried look.] I'd like to make an announcement to the world: the Earth Kingdom is no more. And from here on out, [Gestures to Wu.] this man has no authority. [Crowd gasps in surprise.] *

However the finale revealed that this awesome motivation was a lie and Kuvira's real motivation was her mommy and daddy issues. Why did the writers throw out such a mature and intelligent motivation for something so juvenile?

In this Book, at least, I can claim that there were some things that were done very well. Korra's PTSD arc was great and Kuvira's initial characterization was awesome as well. However everything else was just meh at best.

Hopefully the next Avatar series (if there is one) has more experienced writers. I think Mike and Bryan had good ideas for Legend of Korra but they didn't just seem to have the necessary experience to implement all these ideas very well.

  • It was seriously well-done!

  • The co-creator of The Legend of Korra, Michael Dante DiMartino, linked to the Variety article about the romantic pairing of Korra and Asami on his Facebook page, so their pairing is definitely meant to be implied by the ending.

We still live in an age where television standards in North America won't let shows that are marketed towards children have same sex couples kiss on-screen, so hand holding and a staring lovingly into each others eyes is all that they're allowed to do. I, for one, really applaud them for doing that.

  • I haven't actually watched it so i don't know much about Korra and Asami, but from what i've seen, is it just me or is that last scene really forced? I mean, I'm all for some homosexual representation, but it just looked like the characters put it in there just so they could avoid the tumblr idiots or something.

  • I was so annoyed. I got to the last 4 minutes of the last episode and my Internet shut off. Still haven't finished it...

I do hope they wouldn't continue her story though. She is a very interesting protagonist but I don't want to stick to the same characters too long. Perhaps not even following the avatar would be interesting? What happened when the fire nation invaded omashu, and what was it like to be in the resistance? What happened exactly when The Great Uniter left whichever places she conquered? Lost in the spirit world, and how do you escape? You've learned of a plot against the avatars life (whichever), go alert them before the plot succeeds and the world is thrown into chaos!

This is the best expression for any character who is put off screen/in the background or dies off screen after a lot of development. Beautiful.

They've been building their relationship up with subtle clues all season (for instance Korra only wrote to Asami while she was gone, and the two held hands before in a prior episode), so it didn't feel forced to me.

It would have been nice if they were able to have Korra and Asami actually speak about a building relationship before hand so it wouldn't have felt as out of place for people who didn't pick up on the subtle clues from earlier episodes, but there's no way Nickelodeon's standards and practices would let that go through, sadly.

  • Agreed! They made it as obvious as they were allowed to in a children's show. I think they did a nice job dropping subtle hints for it this season too, like how Korra blushed when Asami said she liked her hair, and how Korra only ever wrote to her during the years away.

  • If I can remeber correctly in the episode when Korra, Asami and Mako came back togeter therw was some Korrasami and in S3 well some fans took it the wrong way and others took it for fun.

Korra: I never had a girlfriend before except Naga.

I can remember when the first season ended Mike and Bryan were surprised they got away with Korra because it was to dark, violent for a kids show...

  • It sucks. I really enjoyed Korra, although I haven't finished it yet. The Last Airbender was my childhood. It would be so cool if they made a series about an avatar of each element.

  • All these gifs do a good job of showing how Mike and Bryan fell to the demands of their fans and forced Korra and Asami together as a couple despite their almost zero interaction this Book.

Honestly Makorra would have made more sense. At least Korra spent a subtantial amount of time with Mako.
